Joseph E. Walters
Joseph E. Walters, 95, of 670 Maxine Dr., Lehighton, died Tuesday in Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville. He was the husband of Miriam A. (McDonald) Walters. He was a police officer in Philadelphia for 43 years before retiring. Walters was an Army veteran of World War I having received the Purple Heart after being injured while serving in France. After his discharge he joined the Navy serving until the war ended.
Mrs. Lizzie H. Fritz
Mrs. Lizzie H. Fritz, 81, of 2670 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, died Tuesday in her home. She was the widow of Calvin D. Fritz, who died in 1988.
Louis J. Horvath
Louis J. Horvath, 78, of Allentown, died Monday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Helen E. (Romig) Horvath. They observed their 37th wedding anniversary last November. He worked in the maintenance department of Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, for 10 years before retiring in 1987. Prior to that he worked for American Sash Co., Macungie, for 23 years.
Russell Fehnel
Russell "Skip" Fehnel, 84, of Sportsman's Club Road, Nazareth, died Tuesday in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Josephine "Jo" (Bond) Fehnel. They observed their 45th wedding anniversary in May. He was employed by the old Binney and Smith Co., Forks Township, for 44 years before retiring in 1977 from the research department. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Rev. Richard K. Schmidt
The Rev. Richard K. Schmidt, 50, of 1414 Brook Blvd., Kenhorst, Berks County, died Monday in Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, He was the husband of Jean L. (Stowman) Schmidt. He was pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, West Reading, since October 1992. Previously he served the Kempton-Stony Run Parish that comprises Friedens, Stony Run, and New Bethel churches, for four years.
Jack Roberts
Jack Roberts, 75, of Marietta, Ga., died suddenly Sunday at his home. He was the husband of Mary (Phillips) Roberts. He was an Air Force veteran for 23 years before retiring.

John L. Churetta
John L. Churetta, 53, head coach of the Whitehall High School girls' basketball team since 1988, died Wednesday in his home. He and his wife, Brenda (Morh) Churetta, resided at 820 Catherine Drive, Coplay. They observed their 31st wedding anniversary in May. He was a 1965 graduate of Kutztown University and taught at the Whitehall-Coplay Middle School for the past 32 years.
Robert H. Lesher
Robert H. Lesher, 66, of 2361 Cherry Hill Road, Palmerton, died Tuesday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Marguerite R. (Hoffman) Lesher. They observed their 43rd wedding anniversary on May 13. A 1953 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, he was a cartographer for the Fence Mapping Agency, Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Anna Mermon
Mrs. Anna Mermon, 87, of Tamaqua R.3, died Wednesday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of John Mermon, who died Feb. 1, 1985. She was a waitress in Brooklyn and Jamaica, N.Y., for many years before retiring in 1964.

Jesse J. Wilk, 18, of 567 Pinewood Road, Lehighton, R.D., died Thursday in a one-car crash on Route 895 in East Penn Township. The deceased was a senior at Lehighton Area High School and a kitchen worker at Walck's Restaurant, Parryville.
Sylvia Spaihts
Sylvia Spaihts, 81, of 890 Wintergreen Road, Palmerton, died Thursday in her home. She was the widow of John C. Spaihts who died in 1993. She was a sewing machine operator at Cesare's Apparel Inc., Danielsville.
Mrs. Arlene M. Jones
Mrs. Arlene M. Jones, 82, of 3926 Main St., Slatedale, died Thursday in her home. She was the widow of Richard J. Jones. She was a head cook for Northern Lehigh School District for about 10 years before retiring.
Prior to that she was a sewing machine operator for the former Holiday Fashions, Slatedale, for many years. Mrs. Jones was in inspector of elections for the Lehigh County Election Board for about 50 years and head cook for Slatedale Volunteer Fire Company for many years.
