Melvin E. "Mebbie" Meiser
Melvin E. "Mebbie" Meiser, 79, of 717 W. Main St., Weatherly, died Friday morning in his home. He was the husband of Mary (Woolson) Meiser and the late Mildred (Pergosky) Meiser.
Born in Weatherly, he was the son of the late Winfield and Susan (Frey-Gimbi) Meiser.
He was affiliated with Salem United Church of Christ, Weatherly.
Prior to retirement, he was a car inspector for the former Lehigh Valley Railroad and for Conrail.
A veteran of World War II, he served as a PFC in the 4th Infantry Division in Europe. He received a Purple Heart for wounds in action in Italy.
He was a member of American Legion Post 360, Weatherly, and an honorary member of Citizen's Fire Company No. 1, Weatherly. He also held memberships in the Hazleton D.A.V. Post and the Freeland V.F.W. Post.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Don Woolson of Pottsville; a daughter, Charlotte, wife of Bryson Perhonitch of Reading, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to being preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, he also was predeceased by two brothers, Howard L. Meiser Sr. and James "Jiggs" Gimbi, and six sisters, Edith Rabenold, Anna Bengston, Alma Reynolds, Martha Miller, Cora "Ted Gimbi" Koren, Evelyn Wech, and Grace Penberth.

Milo W. Schaeffer
Milo W. Schaeffer, 95, formerly of New Ringgold R. 1, died Friday morning in the Manor Care Nursing Home, Pottsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lizzie A. Kemner, who died in 1991.
Born in West Penn Township, he was a son of the late Frank G. and Mary A. (Rice) Schaeffer.
He was a life-long, self-employed farmer in West Penn Township until retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Zion's Stone Union Church, New Ringgold R. 2.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Emma Arner of Tamaqua R. 3, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary J. Hackash
Mrs. Mary J. Hackash, 84, of 125 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, died Thursday at Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of John A. Hackash Sr., who died in 1957.
She was employed at the former Lansford Shoe Factory and in St. Michael Church Rectory.
Born in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Rose (Janiga) Serina.
She was a member of St. Michael Church, Lansford and the St. Ann Society of the Church. She was also a member of the Secular Fransicans, a member of The Cardinal Tomko Chapter of Slovak Catholic Federation of the Lehigh Valley, and a member of Hazleton Area Center for Slovak Studies.
She is survived by three sons, Paul, with whom she resided, Robert of Lansford, and John of Lancaster; one brother, Michael of Lansford; one sister, Julia M. wife of Thomas Matusic of Reading, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cyril I. and Justin (Jerry); an infant brother, Bernard, and an infant sister, Helen.

Margaret H. Zelenay
Margaret H. Zelenay, of 334 E. Abbott St., Lansford, died Friday at the Orwigsburg Manor.
Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Cecelia (Uherek) Zelenay.
She was a retired employee of the former Rosenau Dress Factory in Lansford.
She was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Lansford
Surviving are three sisters, Rose Halenar and Annette Zelenay, both of Lansford, Agnes of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a brother Michael, of Holiday, Fla. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

Mary A. Blickley
Mary A. Blickley, 85, 62 Washington St., Middleport, died Friday at the Pottsville Hospital, where she was a patient for a week. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Vincent Chizauskie and Lester Blickley.
Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary Serbanta Lapienis.
She was last employed as a floor lady at numerous garment factories in the area.
She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in Middleport.
She is survived by a brother, Joseph Lapinsky of Middleport; a sister, Eva, wife of Thomas Zelusky of Brockton, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna, Ellen, and Margaret; and a brother, John Lapinsky.

Mrs. Raymond Brooks
Mrs. Ann Brooks, 77, of 90 Back St., Mary D, died Saturday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the wife of Raymond Brooks. They were married for 56 years.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Hannah (Phillips) Sneddon.
She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Locust Valley.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Rae Ann, wife of Albert Trevorah of Tamaqua, and Bonnie, wife of John Kotchmar of Clamtown; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, William, Alex, Daniel and Evan.

Mrs. Clarence C. Mack
Mrs. Arlyle J. Mack, 71, of 25 Dowell St., Slatington, died Saturday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Clarence C. Mack and the widow of Leonard Smith. She and her second husband observed their 38th wedding anniversary in October.
She was a secretary for Terry Christman, Palmerton, for many years.
Born in Slatington, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Lillie (Serfass) Griffith.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Springside Fire Company Auxiliary, all of Slatington.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Michael C. of Slatington; and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Ann Greenall
Mrs. Ann Greenall, 84, formerly of Thorny Hills Farm, New Tripoli, died Sunday in the Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown, where she resided. She was the widow of Roger K. Greenall.
She retired from Family and Children Services of the Lehigh Valley, where she was a former board member.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late John and Bridget Belinda (McCormick) Brown.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield, where she belonged to the Women's Guild.
Surviving are two sons, Roger Jr. of Carolina, R.I., and John of Windsor, Vt.; and a brother John of Allentown.

Stanley J. Badowski
Stanley J. Badowski, 81, of 221 W. Phillips St., Coaldale, formerly of Hampton, Va., died Saturday in the Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Victoria (Borowski) Badowski.
A retired civilian federal employee, he last worked at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late Thomas and Josephine (Janis) Badowski.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having been a technician fifth grade in the European Theater of Operations.
Surviving are four sisters, Helen, Mary and Rosie, all of Lansford, and Jennie, wife of Frank Halupa of Frackville; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Walter, Peter and Adolph; and two sisters, Stephanie Matukonis and Florence Vicorek.

Mrs. Gladys E. Mummey
Mrs. Gladys E. Mummey, 56, of 1105 Washington St., Easton, died Saturday in her home. She was the widow of Robert J. Mummey.
Born in Fountain Hill, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rehm.
Surviving are three daughters, Catherine Dietrich of Kunkletown, Lyrea Hunsberger of Doylestown and Pambi Longley of Moore Township; two brothers, Joseph, address unknown, and William of Bangor; a sister, Doris Moll of East Stroudsburg; two stepsons, Richard Mummey and Michael Mummey, both of Palmerton; and 11 grandchildren.
Clayton G. Green
Clayton G. Green, 83, of 307 Main Road, Lehighton, died Sunday in ManorCare Health Services, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Berger) Green.
He was a knitter for Hofford's Mills, Weissport, before retiring.
Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late George Albert and Elizabeth Mae (Auge) Green.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 314, Lehighton.
Surviving are two sisters, Roberta Eaton of Philadelphia and Jacqueline Chase of Bath; a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Bottcher.

Lawrence L. Hosler
Lawrence L. "Larry" Hosler, 57, of 6603 Mountain Road, New Tripoli, died Friday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Annabelle R. (Billig) Hosler. They observed their 31st wedding anniversary in June.
He was a truck driver for Manfredi Motor Transit Company, Allentown, since November, and previously had worked in the same capacity for Leaseway Logistics, 1986-96, and York Barbell Company, 1969-86.
Born in Tuscarora, he was a son of Mrs. Stella (Pokladic) Hosler Fahringer of Kutztown and the late Charles Hosler.
He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Jerusalem (Red) Church, Kempton, where he was president of the joint council, a trustee for the Lutheran congregation and a past deacon.
Hosler was an Army veteran.
He was president of the Concerned Lynn Township Residents Association, and a member of the New Tripoli, Lynnport and Kutztown fire companies.
Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are two daughters, Betty Yoder and Sally, wife of Thomas Angstadt, both of Hamburg; two sons, Marry R. Hosler of New Tripoli and Victor Rhoads of Bernville; three sisters, Brenda, wife of Scott Eaken, and Luann, both of Shoemakersville, and Charlotte, wife of Fred Reinhart of Kutztown; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Mrs. Lois A. Rohlfing
Mrs. Lois A. Rohlfing, 77, of 7 Court St., Lehighton, died Friday in the Palmerton Hospital. She was the widow of Clayton P. Rohlfing, who died in 1989.
Born in Mauch Chunk, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Edna (Long) Larash.
She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Lehighton.
Surviving are two daughters, Dianne, wife of Warner Rodgers, and Darlene, wife of Ronald Hagenbuch, both of Lehighton; a companion, John F. Derr, with whom she resided; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Fred J. Woodring
Fred J. "Ditz" Woodring, 81, of 440 Fairview St., Weatherly, a former deputy game protector for 25 years, died early Sunday morning in the Hazleton General Hospital. He was the husband of Eurana "Renee" (Hentz) Woodring.
He was also employed as a auto mechanic for the Weatherly Area School District and was a partner in the Y&W Bear Service, Weatherly.
Born in Weatherly, he was a son of the late Robert and Esther (Henry) Woodring.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and an honorary member of the Citizens Fire Company, both of Weatherly.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter Martha, wife of Clifford Burkey of Weatherly; a granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Romig, who died in 1977; and a brother Chester, who died in 1985.
Frank W. Herman
Frank W. "Beast" Herman, 40, of 697 W. Franklin St., Slatington, died Thursday in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown.
He was a concrete finisher for Allen Gruber, Slatington, for 20 years until 1995.
Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late Charles and Mae (Szankovics) Herman.
He was a member of the Allen Fritzinger V.F.W. Post 7215, Walnutport.
Surviving are a daughter, Nikki Lynn of Slatington; two brothers, Charles Herman of Quakertown and Louis Szankovics of Allentown; and three sisters, Sharon, wife of Clarence Barthold, Julie Herman and Cynthia Grossman, all of Slatington.
David M. Burkhart
David M. Burkhart, 61, of 349 Sousley Road, Lenhartsville, died Friday in his home. He was the husband of Brenda J. (Snyder) Burkhart. They observed their 15th wedding anniversary last April.
He was a Class A electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Reading Union 173, from 1970 until retiring in 1991 due to disability.
Born in Reading, he was a son Edwin F. Burkhart of Reading and Pauline C. (Homan) Hardy of Temple.
The deceased was a member of the Northern Valley Evangelical Free Church, New Tripoli.
A Marine Corps veteran, he served for over eight years, including during the Korean Conflict.
Burkhart was a member of the Lenhartsville Fish and Game Association and the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, New Tripoli. He taught hunter safety and trapping courses for the Pennsylvania Game Commission for the past 20 years.
Surviving in addition to his widow and parents are two daughters, Cheryl and Janelle, both of Reading; two sons, Bradford S. Miller of Reading and Shane D. Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Mary L., wife of Raymond Hines of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Robert E. Burkhart of Cedar Park, Tex., and Kenneth C. Golden of Bernville; a stepson, Dean E. Hartman of Orefield; two stepdaughters, Betty J. Hartman of Kempton and Tina M. Hartman of Alburtis; six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Margaret M. Trancek
Miss Margaret M. Trancek, 72, of 108 Crocus Rd., Feasterville, Bucks County, died Saturday in the Einstein Medical Center.
Prior to retiring, she was employed as Director of Nursing for North East Hospital, Bucks County.
Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Amelia (Buran) Trancik.
A member of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford, she graduated from the former Lansford High School in 1942 and received a bachelor's degree from Temple University and a master's degree at Villanova University. She was a member of the Somerton Women's Club.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Michalec of Lansford, Mrs. Olga Snella of Feasterville and Anna, wife of Arthur Freder of Hyattsville, Md.
