Mrs. Fannie C. Peart
Mrs. Fannie C. Peart, 82, of Dotts Street, Pennsburg, died Thursday in
Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the widow of
Sidney Peart. She was a sewing machine operator for the former
Sumneytown Pants Factory for many years before retiring.
Edward D. Homanko
Edward D. Homanko of Box 147, New Coxeville, Luzerne County, died
Saturday evening in the home of his daughter, Daria Kochinsky of 102
Second St., Oneida. he was the husband of the late Anna (Kalenak) Homanko,
who died in 1991. Prior to retiring he was employed by Jeddo Highland
Coal Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Thoomas R. Spino
Thomas Richard Spino, 53, of 2002 W. Main St., Ephrata, Lancaster
County, formerly of Allentown, died Wednesday in Lancaster General
Hospital. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Reinbold) Spino. They observed
their 24th wedding anniversary in March. He was the owner of Spino's Food
Service, Ephrata, for several years.
George Zappe
George Zappe, 87, of Allentown, formerly of Middletown, Dauphin
County, died Friday in Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center,
Allentown. He was the husband of the late Margaret D. (Cannon) Zappe. He
worked in the instrument repair division of Olmstead Air Force Base,
Middletown, for many years before retiring.
John E. Seiler
John E. Seiler, 27, of Lehigh Avenue, Palmerton, died Thursday in
Palmerton. He was the husband of Angela (Zampirri) Seiler of Lansdale.
They observed their 10th wedding anniversary in June. He was employed in
auto body shops in the Carbon County area for a number of years, and
previously had operated his own body shop in the Quakertown area.
John J. Quinn
John J. Quinn, 23, of 3812 Washington St., Schnecksville, died
Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, following a long battle with
leukemia. He was a former state BMX (pedal biking) champion winning
titles for several years, and also raced four-wheel all-terrain vehicles at
Zinc City Motorcycle Club, Palmerton. He was employed in the parts
department of Kawasaki of Lehigh Valley for the past several months.
Mrs. Lucy May Francis
Mrs. Lucy May Francis, 99, of Phoebe Home, Allentown, formerly of
Allentown, died Saturday in the home. She was the widow of Willard F.
Francis who died in 1992. She was an elementary school teacher in the
Allentown School District from 1918 to 1924.
William R. Ward
William R. Ward, 68, of 227 N. Jordan St., Allentown, died Friday in
Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Eleanor J.
(Bidlow) Ward. He was a maintenance worker for what is now CoreStates
Bank, Allentown, until retiring. Ward was an Army veteran of World War II.
Herman S. Miller
Herman S. Miller, 62, of Hidden Woods, Myrtle Beach, S.C., died
Thursday in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach. He was
the husband of Rosemary (Krokovic) Miller, a former resident of the White
Bear section of Summit Hill. He was a retired senior master sergeant in
the Air Force retiring in 1977 after 28 1/2 years of service including
duties during the Korean Conflict and five combat tours in Vietnam.
Lewis S. Gower
Lewis S. Gower, 70, of 3559 Mountain View Drive, Danielsville, died
Saturday in Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. He was the husband of
Mary T. (Mesics) Gower. He was a siding contractor in Lehigh Township for
more than 30 years before retiring in 1995. Prior to that he worked for
the former Green Acres Dehydrators, Nazareth, for 15 years.
Elizabeth S. McCready
Elizabeth S. McCready, 31 of 707 Christopher Drive, Wyomissing,
died Sunday in Mahoning Township. She was employed by Stevens and Lee
Law Firm, Reading, as a secretary.
Joseph P. Sohosky Sr.
Joseph P. Sohosky Sr., 47, formerly of Kaska, Schuylkill County, died
Friday in the home of his fiancée, Lynn K. (Zimmerman) Gerber of Andreas
R.1, with whom he resided. He was a carpenter in the Wilmington, Del., and
Philadelphia areas for 12 years before retiring in 1983 due to illness.
Oscar A. Zerbe
Oscar A. Zerbe, 84, of Pine Grove, R.2, a long-time Pine Grove
teacher, died Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Good Samaritan Hospital,
Pottsville. He was the husband of Catherine (Brown) Erbe. They were
married 57 years. He was employed as a teacher for 41 years, retiring
from the Pine Grove Area School District in 1973. He was a Navy veteran
of World War II.
Mrs. Norbert Golembiewski
Mrs. Theresa M. Golembiewski, 54, of Indian Mountain Lakes,
Albrightsville, formerly of Jersey City, N.J., died Friday in her home. She
was the wife of Norbert Golembiewski. She was a laundry worker at Christ
Hospital, Jersey City, for 15 years before retiring in 1991.
Walter L. Wehr
Walter L. Wehr, 85, of Orwigsburg, died Friday afternoon at Good
Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. He was the husband of Mary
R. (Pastucha) Wehr. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on
April 2. In 1941 he founded the former Wehr's Sunoco Station, Pottsville,
from which he retired in 1975. He has remained active with the current
Wehr's Auto Service, Pottsville.
Mrs. Frank Andel
Mrs. Agnes Andel, 72, of 274 First St., Coaldale, died Sunday in
Hazleton General Hospital. She was the wife of Frank Andel. They were
married for 52 years. She was last employed as a sewing machine operator
for the former W&L Manufacturing Co., Coaldale, until it ceased operations.
Alfred J. Redline Jr.
Alfred J. "Squiz" Redline Jr., 71, of 300 South Ave., Jim Thorpe, died
Saturday in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of
Sylvia (Sillers) Redline. He was a retired serviceman for U.G.I. Gas
Company having worked in the Bethlehem and Allentown areas for 34
years. Redline was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Ronald G. Frank
Ronald G. Frank, 46, 11 School St., Nesquehoning, died Sunday evening
at Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of Naomi
(Christman) Frank. They observed their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept.
11. He was an injured passenger on the bus involved in an accident on Aug.
12 along SR209 in Nesquehoning in which the driver of the car involved in
the crash was killed. He had last worked as a laborer for New Jersey Zinc
Co.
