Mrs. Luella Arndt
Mrs. Luella Arndt, 95, formerly of 304 Race St., Tamaqua, died Tuesday in the Hometown Nursing Home, Tamaqua R.2. She was the widow of Walter Arndt, who died Sept. 1, 1984.
Born in Mantzville, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Adeline (Miller) Remaley.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua.
Surviving are four daughters, Margaret, wife of Caleb Coleman, Mrs. Alice Thomas and Dorothy, wife of Willard Gerber, all of Tamaqua, and Mary Jane, wife of George Rice of Philadelphia; a son Kenneth of Summit Hill; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son Charles; and three daughters, Edna Little and Grace and Arlene Arndt.
The Roche Funeral Home, 237 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Emma DeRemer
Mary Emma DeRemer, 67, of 17 E. Fifth St., Jim Thorpe, died Tuesday morning in her home.
She was a retired librarian, having worked at the Dimmick Memorial Library, Jim Thorpe, for 30 years.
Born in Mauch Chunk, she was a daughter of the late William and Lillie (Deppe) DeRemer.
She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Jim Thorpe, where she was a choir member since 1938, a Sunday school teacher since 1945 and a member of the consistory since 1960, during which time she served as secretary for many years.
The last member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert; and a sister, Mrs. Louise Guy.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Armando Coviello
Mrs. Anna Marie Coviello, 66, of 221 N. Seventh St., Lehighton, died Tuesday in the Gnaden Huetten Nursing and Convalescent Center, Lehighton. She was the wife of Armando Coviello.
She and her husband owned and operated the Anna Marie Ice Cream Parlor, Lehighton, for many years before retiring in 1994.
Born in Italy, she was a daughter of the late Alfonso and Giovanna (DeSantis) Parrella.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter Carmelina of Allentown; and a sister Theresa in Italy.

Allen P. George
Allen P. George, 90, of Beach Haven, N.J., formerly of Doylestown, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of the late Esther (Haring) George.
Born in Slatington, he was a teacher at Hatboro-Horsham High School for 30 years before retiring in 1969.
A 1928 graduate of Lafayette College, he received his master's degree in 1931. In 1955, he qualified as a principal-supervisor in the Pennsylvania School System.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Brant Beach.
George was an Army veteran of World War II; a member of the American Legion Post 210, Doylestown, for 50 years; and a past president and secretary of the Bux-Ches Mont Forum.
Surviving is a nephew.

Peter J. Mogilski
Peter J. Mogilski, 81, of 328 Lincoln St., Tamaqua, died Wednesday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of Mary Ann (DeAngelo) Mogilski.
Prior to retiring, he was employed in the road construction industry.
Born in Summit Hill, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Majac) Mogilski.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Edward T. of Castro Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Sheila Dawejko of Cordova, Tenn.; three brothers, Edward, Joseph and Michael, all of Summit Hill; a sister, Mrs. Mary Kohler of Jim Thorpe; and two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother John Mogilski; and a sister, Anna Mogilski.

Ammon Hettler Sr.
Ammon A. Hettler Sr., 83, of 210 First St., Weatherly, died Wednesday morning in the Hazleton General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Cull) Hettler.
He was employed at the Weatherly Foundry and was also a laborer for various local contractors before retiring.
Born in Beaver Run, Franklin Township, he was a son of the late Ira and Kate (Grow) Hettler.
He was affiliated with Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Citizens's Fire Company, both of Weatherly.
Surviving are three sons, Michael and LeRoy, both of Allentown, and Charles of Weatherly; three daughters, Helen Malitsky and Elaine Simonson, both of Weatherly, and Esther, wife of Russell Oster of Ebervale; two brothers, Harry of Lehighton and Walter of Walnutport; two sisters, Gertrude Lapp of Northampton and Mrs. William (Stella) Brown of Weissport; 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Ammon Jr.; six brothers, Ira Jr., George, Raymond, Russell, Milton and William; three sisters, Mabel Muthart, Cora Reichert and Mary Weaver; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Doran Hill
Mrs. Ruth E. Schwab Hill, 71, of 256 Forge St., Bowmanstown, died Wednesday in her home following a long illness. She was the wife of Doran Hill. They observed their 21st wedding anniversary in December.
She was a sewing machine operator for the former Natalie Fashions, Palmerton, and the former West Bow Fashions, Bowmanstown, for 40 years before retiring in 1987.
Born in Lower Towamensing Township, she was a daughter of the late Arthur A. and Edith O. (Shook) Beers.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Terry Beers of Slatington, Glenn Schwab of Lehighton and Gary Schwab of Palmerton; two daughters, Gayle Schwab Smale of Bowmanstown and Tina Schwab of Allentown; a brother Larry in Delaware; two sisters, Lois, wife of Clyde Mansfield of Germansville, and Jean, wife of Paul Bomba of Bowmanstown; her former husband, Norman Schwab of Lehighton; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory Schwab.

Mrs. Grace A. Nosal
Mrs. Grace A. Nosal, 79, of Allentown, died Wednesday in the Lehigh Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Macungie Township. She was the widow of John Nosal Jr.
She was a waitress for the Brass Rail restaurants, Allentown, for many years before retiring in 1978, and previously had been a secretary for the former Neuweiler Brewery and a waitress for the former Dannelly's restaurant, both in Allentown, for many years.
Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Carrol) Trimble.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Allentown.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald J. of Macungie and Robert J. of Allentown; a brother Hugh of Slatington; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Effie M. Fink
Effie M. Fink, 63, of 6162 Glenn Court, Germansville, died Tuesday in the Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center.
Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Welcome R. and Elsie (Saylor) Fink.
Surviving are three sisters, Georgine, wife of James Cooley, and Joyce, both of Allentown, and Joanne Huegel of Las Vegas, Nev.
William J. Godley
William J. "Bill" Godley, 58, of Mountainview Mobile Home Park, Walnutport, died Wednesday in his home. He was the husband of Carol A. (Feitzinger) Godley. They observed their 40th wedding anniversary in January.
He was a locomotive engineer for the former Pennsylvania Railroad and then Conrail for 25 years before retiring in 1984.
Born in Newark, N.J., he was a son of the late William and Maud (Williams) Godley.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville, where he was a Eucharistic minister and former choir member.
Godley was a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the American Legion.
He was a 4th degree knight in Knights of Columbus, Council No. 345, Easton.
Surviving in addition to his widow are seven sons, George K. of Cornwall, N.Y., William J. Jr., Thomas E. and Jeffrey S., all of Easton, Lawrence J. of Northampton, Christopher W. of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Michael C., at home; a daughter, Monica J., wife of Dennis McCarthy of Danielsville; a brother, Charles J. of Walnutport; a sister Dorothy, wife of Walter Silver of Toms River, N.J.; and 17 grandchildren.
Earl J. Weiss
Earl J. Weiss, 86, of 4230 Dorney Park Road, Allentown, died Wednesday in the Kutztown Manor. He was the husband of the late Althea E. (Schleicher) Weiss.
A truck driver for 35 years, he drove for Deka Battery, Lyons Station, and the former Brake and Wheel, Kuhnsville, before retiring in 1974.
Born in New Tripoli, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Bausch) Weiss.
He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli.
Surviving are a son, Raymond C. of Germansville; a daughter, Diane E., wife of Rodney Keller of Fleetwood; and four grandchildren.
George Popernick
George Popernick, 60, of 1689 First Ave., New York City, N.Y., died April 25 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.
He worked for Masters, Mates & Pilots Steamship Company, New York City, and later for Hunter College for eight years until the time of his death.
Born in Beaver Meadows, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Pavlick) Popernick. He lived in New York City most of his life.
He served with the Army in Germany from 1960-62.
He was a graduate of Hazleton High School in 1955 and was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul's Byzatine Catholic Church, Beaver Meadows.
He is survived by a brother, Joseph of Beaver Meadows.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael.
John W. "Jack" Clarke
John W. "Jack" Clarke, 84, of 534 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, died this morning in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Hyacinth E. and Catherine (Karney) Clarke.
Before retiring, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and later as Tip Staff at the Schuylkill County Court House.
He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanore "Skibbie" Weaver, who died last year.
