Mrs. Grace Schard
Mrs. Grace Schard, 77, of Tamaqua R.2 died Monday in Miners
Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of Henry J. Schard,
who died in 1988. Prior to retiring she was employed as a supervisor and
processor of billings.
Mrs. Eleanor R. Duffy
Mrs. Eleanor R. Duffy, 83, of Tuscarora, formerly of the Trenton, N.J.,
area, died Sunday in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth D.
and David R. Morgan of Ewing, N.J. The deceased was the widow of Daniel A.
Duffy, who died in September 1994. She was a retired supervisor of nurses
at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital.
Mrs. Stephen F. Sturdik
Mrs. Thelma D. Sturdik, 84, of 627 Franklin Ave., Palmerton, died
Sunday in Palmerton Hospital. She was the wife of Stephen F. Sturdik. They
observed their 59th wedding anniversary last month.
Dale R. Dauernheim
Dale R. Dauernheim, 54, of 19 S. Second St., Coplay, died Monday in
Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Carol A.
(Gorr) Dauernheim. They observed their 29th wedding anniversary in April.
He was a laborer at Mizell Brothers, Allentown, for the past seven years,
and previously worked at the former A and B Meats, Allentown, for 16
years.
Ann Bresky
Ann Bresky of Box 350 Still Creek, Tamaqua R.4, died Monday
morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Bresky was employed at
United Rehabilitation Services of Hazleton.
Aaron M. Strouse Sr.
Aaron M. Strouse Sr., 85, of 230 S. Wayne St., Orwigsburg, died
Monday in his home. He was the husband of the late Kathryn M. (Fryer)
Strouse. He worked for Pennsylvania Steel Foundry, Hamburg, before
retiring in 1976.
Richard M. Roppel
Richard Meredith Roppel, 69, of Cedar Key, Fla., died Sept. 17 in
Florida. He was the husband of Lola Roppel. He was on a leave of absence
from his position as an associate professor of Biomechanics at Michigan
State University. He had been employed by Naval Research Lab, 1951-52;
Olin Industries, 1952-54; Norden-Ketay Corp., 1955-56; Yale University,
1956-59; American Cancer Society, 1959-60; Battelle Institute, 1960-66;
and the United States Department of Agriculture, 1966-71. Roppel was a
veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army Air Force in
the Pacific Theater.
Bernard J. Middleton Sr.
Bernard J. Middleton Sr., 56, of 177 Greenwood St., Coaldale, died
Tuesday morning in Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the
husband of Pamela J. (Paton) Middleton.
Eugene L. Cook
Eugene L. Cook, 74, of Albrightsville, formerly of Port Reading, N.J.,
died Sunday in Hazleton General Hospital. He was the husband of Catherine
(Renga) Cook. They were married 35 years. He was a wire annealer for
Wilbur B. Driver in Neward, N.J., for 37 years before retiring in 1976.

Bernard J. Middleton Sr.
Bernard J. Middleton Sr., 57, of 177 Greenwood St., Coaldale, died
Tuesday in Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband
of Pamela J. (Paton) Middleton. He was a bus driver for Panther Valley
School District before retiring.
Lewis J. Kreitz
Lewis J. Kreitz, 80, of Woodhaven Drive, Saylorsburg, died Tuesday
in his home. He was the husband of Alma (Zick) Kreitz. They observed their
54th wedding anniversary in December. He was a machinist and foreman
for Conrail in Easton and Bethlehem for more than 30 years before retiring
in 1979. Kreitz was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the
805th Tank Destroyer Battalion, Harrisburg.
Mrs. Albert R. Dietrich
Mrs. Ruth M. Dietrich, 75, of 450 Arlington St., Tamaqua, died
Tuesday in the Geriatric Center of Miners Memorial Medical Center,
Coaldale. She was the wife of Albert T. Dietrich. She worked for garment
factories in the Tamaqua area before retiring.
William Beninsky
William Beninsky, 48, of Ringtown R.1 was pronounced dead Sunday
after his body was found in a wooded area of East Union Township.
Beninsky was the subject of a police search wanted in connection with a
murder and shooting which occurred in Mahanoy City on Dec. 2, 1995. He
died of a self-inflicted wound to the head. He was a self-employed
contractor and a logger in the Ringtown area for many years.
Mrs. Peter Zimmer
Mrs. Jane Tucker Zimmer, 56, of Longmont, Colo., formerly of the
Lehigh Valley, died Monday in Longmont United Hospital. She was the wife
of Peter Zimmer. They observed their 29th wedding anniversary in June.
She sold real estate in Longmont and previously was a teacher in
Wurtzberg, Germany, and Philadelphia.
Mrs. Verna A. Meixsell
Mrs. Verna Arvilla Meixsell, 84, of Saylorsburg, died Tuesday in Blue
Mountain Personal Care Home, Kunkletown. She was the widow of Thomas
Meixsell. She was a sewing machine operator for area blouse mills for 40
years before retiring in 1974.
John P. Topolski Jr.
John P. Topolski Jr., 43 Hill St., Jeanesville, died Tuesday afternoon
at his home. He was the husband of Carrie (Marone) Topolski. He was
employed as an orderly at the former Hazleton State General Hospital
before retiring.
Joseph Brunda
Joseph Brunda, 79, of 113 E. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, formerly of
Brooklyn, N.Y., died Tuesday in Horton Memorial Hospital, Middletown, N.Y.
He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Riley) Brunda. He was a serviceman
for Brooklyn Union Gas Comapny until retiring in 1981. Brunda was a Navy
veteran of World War II.
Mark A Rounds
Mark A. Rounds, 41, of 328 Cherry St., St. Clair, died Tuesday of a
self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, state police at Frackville
reported. He was employed as a laborer.
Mrs. Harold C. Zellner
Mrs. Madeline E. Zellner, 74, of 2489 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton,
died Tuesday in Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She was the
wife of Harold C. Zellner. They observed their 48th wedding anniversary in
June.
Anita R. Craighead
Anita R. Craighead, 59, of San Diego, Calif., died Wednesday in her
home. She was a secretary and companion of Frankie Laine, a 1950s and
1960s singer, and previously was a realtor and property manager in
Allentown and San Jose, Calif. Craighead was an Air Force veteran.
Mrs. Robert G. Stewart
Mrs. Jane E. Stewart, 70, of Saylorsburg R.4, died Tuesday in Pocono
Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Robert G. Stewart.
They observed their 48th wedding anniversary in June. She was a
registered nurse at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, N.J., for three years
and later worked at Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort, for four years
before retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Virginia Anderson
Mrs. Virginia Rhoads Anderson, 73, of 635 Willow Valley Square,
Lancaster, formerly of Rogers Haven, Del., died Monday in St. Joseph
Hospital, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Donald
H. Anderson, who died in 1989.
Mrs. Leon J. Eichert
Mrs. Miriam A. (Lechleitner) Eichert, 75, of Hamburg, died Wednesday
morning in Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hamburg. She was the
wife of Leon J. Eichert.
