Wash Snoich
Wash Snoich, 92, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Tamaqua and Allentown, died May 18 in the Crestview Nursing Home, Portland. He was the husband of Margaret (Mulhearn) Snoich. They were married for 23 years.
His first wife, the former Evelyn (Mohr) Snoich, died in 1973. They had been married for 46 years.
He was an administrator and teacher in McAdoo, Nesquehoning and Allentown for 40 years, including supervising principal of the former Mauch Chunk Township schools, before retiring in 1968.
A 1928 graduate of Muhlenberg College, Allentown, he received his master's degree from New York University.
Born in Hauto, he was a son of the late Stephen and Anna Snoich.
He attended Cooper Mountain Presbyterian Fellowship, Beaverton, Ore.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Robert Sutton Snoich of Beaverton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Myers; a son John; five brothers and three sisters.
Stella V. Miller
Stella V. Miller, 86, of 5816-33 S. Krocks Road, Wescosville, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She was a folder at a slip cover company in Nazareth for many years before retiring.
Born in New Ringgold R.2, she was a daughter of the late Amandus and Bertha (Hafer) Hess.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Trexlertown.
Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor M. Bernhard of Allentown and Patricia A., wife of George Sokol of Bethlehem; a brother Lamar of Reading; two sisters, Esther, wife of Alvin Greensweig of New Ringgold, and Edith Siluk of Lenhartsville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Karl P. Wolf
Karl P. Wolf, 50, of 267 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, died Monday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (McAvoy) Wolf. They observed their 31st wedding anniversary last Aug. 15.
He was a millwright for Horsehead Research Development, formerly the New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton.
Born in Hartford, Conn., he was a son of the late Alfred Wolf and Marie (Lomonico) Wolf O'Shaughnessey.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Vincent P. of North Hill, Calif., and Joseph P. of Palmerton; a daughter, Dawn M. of Palmerton; a brother, Gordon Guile of Fitchburg, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Gladys A. Apgar
Mrs. Gladys A. Apgar, 85, of 5095 Country Top Trail, Bethlehem, died Monday in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill, Bethlehem. She was the widow of Clifford Wean Apgar.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Bessie (Reppert) Ulshafer.
She was a member of the West Portal Methodist Church, New Jersey.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Geffe of Bethlehem and Linda Ehly of Beverly, N.J.; two sisters, Naomi Costenbader of Palmerton and Lois Husack of New Hope, Bucks County; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ellen J. Hauck
Ellen J. Hauck, 46, of 830 Center St., Bethlehem, died Monday in her home.
She was a nurses' aide at the Phoebe Home, Allentown, from 1976-86, and a clerk for the former All-Mart, Bethlehem, 1969-72.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of Mrs. Fay M. (Everett) Hauck of Bethlehem and the late Howard B. Hauck.
The deceased was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Bethlehem.
She was a 1969 graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two sisters, Karen K. of Bethlehem and the Rev. Susan L. of New Town, N.D.; and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence (Smith) Everett of Andreas.
James McGuire
James McGuire, of HC1, Box 3, White Haven, died Tuesday at his home.
He was a maintenance worker at Hazleton Pumps.
Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Patrick J. and Helen (Kacmer) McGuire.
He served with the Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Sons of Erin, and the American Legion Post 473, all of Freeland.
Surviving are two sisters, Agnes Turek of Jim Thorpe, and Grace Boyce of Lititz; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick in 1973; and a sister, Helen Kushner in 1970.
John F. Behr
John F. "Jack" Behr, 85, of Heatherwood Retirement Community, Honey Brook, Chester County, a longtime resident of Springfield, Delaware County, died Tuesday in the Paoli Memorial Hospital, Paoli, Pa., after a brief stay at the Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Center, where he was recovering from a hip replacement operation. He was the husband of Grace (Woodring) Behr. They were married for 58 years.
Prior to retiring, he worked for many years for Boeing Aircraft Company, Philadelphia, and previously had been employed by the Vertol Helicopter Company.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late John and Caroline (Rice) Behr.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Springfield.
He was an avid sportsman. Upon retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively and were actively involved in numerous charitable organizations.
Behr was a graduate of Tamaqua High School.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son Ric of Honey Brook; and a grandson.

Mrs. Ethel R. Whetstone
Mrs. Ethel R. Whetstone, 85, of Luther Ridge, Pottsville, formerly of Tamaqua, died Tuesday in the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. She was the widow of Edgar C. Whetstone.
Prior to retiring, she taught third and fourth grades in the Tamaqua School District for 50 years.
Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late George C. and Elizabeth (Ehrig) Reichelderfer.
She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.
Mrs. Whetstone was a 1925 graduate of Tamaqua High School and a 1927 graduate of the former Kutztown Normal School.
Surviving is a sister, Louise Lesher of Chevy Chase, Md.

Raymond E. Zanders
Raymond E. Zanders, 68, of 417 W. Third St., Lehighton, died early this morning in his home. He was the husband of rita M. (Cossman) Zanders. They celebrated their 46th anniversary on Feb. 3.
Born in Mauch Chunk, she was a son of the late Elmer and Mayme (Mertz) Zanders. He was last employed as a custodian for the Lehighton School District in the East Penn School. Previously he was a partner in the former Cossman Block Co., Lehighton.
He was a member Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, and was the treasurer and past president of the Orioles Club in Lehighton.
Surviving with his widow are four sons, Raymond Jr., of Tamaqua R.3, and Edward, Michael and John, all of Lehighton; three daughters, Edith, at home, Jill, wife of Bruce Smith of Lehighton, and Millie of Mahanoy City; also a sister, Ruth, wife of James Redline of Walnutport and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Norman.
