Mrs. Jennie Barrall
Mrs. Jennie Barrall, 89, of 2731 Delps Road, Danielsville, died
Tuesday in her home following a lengthy illness. She was the widow of
Russell P. Barrall. She was a sewing machine operator for the former
Jodie Fashions, Newburg, and previously had worked in the same capacity
for Pioneer Manufacturing Company, Nazareth, working a total of 30 years
before retiring in 1978.
Ethel L. Reusch
Ethel L. Reusch, 75, formerly of 508 Centre Ave., Jim Thorpe, died
Wednesday evening in Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville.
Prior to retiring, she worked for the Association for the Blind in Jim
Thorpe for many years.
Franklin W. Haftl Sr.
Franklin W. 'Lefty' Haftl Sr., 72, of 4141 Butternut Drive,
Walnutport, died Tuesday in his home. He was the husband of Anna R.
(Kratzer) Haftl. They observed their 49th wedding anniversary in June. He
worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a crane operator for 36
years before retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Leon J. Eichert
Mrs. Miriam A. Eichert, 75, of 116 Yoder St., Hamburg, died
Wednesday in the Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hamburg,
where she was a patient since Sept. 27. She was the wife of Leon J.
Eichert. They observed their 56th wedding anniversary on Saturday. She
was a machine operator at the former Dutch Knitting Mill, Hamburg, for 20
years before retiring in 1979.
Rev. Alfred L. Long
The Rev. Alfred L. Long, 79, of Red Oak Circle, Orange Park, Fla., a
former pastor of area Lutheran Churches, died Tuesday in his summer
home in Paradise Falls, Cresco, Monroe County. He was the husband of
Marie (Yaukey) Long. They observed their 54th wedding anniversary last
December. A minister for 55 years, he was pastor of St. John Lutheran
Church, Nazareth, for 26 years until retiring in1982, when he was named
pastor emeritus.
Jannelle L. Serfass
Jennelle L. 'Jenny' Serfass, 13, of 4806 S. Cypress Road,
Walnutport, the 1991 Lehigh Valley Poster Child for the Muscular
Dystrophy Association, died Wednesday in Palmerton Hospital. She was a
sixth grade pupil at Lehigh Township Elementary School, where she sang in
the chorus.
Howard W. Heater
Howard W. 'Pop' Heater, 83, of 3432 Spear St., Bethlehem Township,
died Tuesday in an automobile accident in Branchburg Township, N.J. He
was the husband of the late Helen E. (Hentz) Heater who died in 1986. He
was a foundry man at Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 35 years before
retiring in 1975.
William Arthur Anderson Jr.
William Arthur Anderson Jr., 77, of 434 Forest Lane, Kissimee, Fla.,
died Saturday, Sept. 28. He was the husband of of Mae (Black) Anderson,
deceased, and Mae (Schoch) Anderson. He was retired from National Tubing
in Fairless Hills.
Harry K. Eckman
Harry K. Eckman, 75, formerly of 1637 E. Washington St., Allentown,
died Wednesday in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township. He was the
husband of Elizabeth J. 'Betty' (Taylor) Eckman. They observed their 47th
wedding anniversary last January. He was a crane operator for Bethlehem
Steel Corporation before retiring in 1981 after 33 years of service.
James F. Walck
James F. Walck, 65, of Poway, Calif., formerly of Allentown, died
Tuesday in the Naval Medical Center, San Diego, Calif. He was the husband
of Jacqueline (Ahn) Walck. He was employed by Sony Corporation, Rancho
Bernardo, Calif., for 15 years as a quality control manager before retiring
in the late 1980's. Walck served in the Navy for 22 years before retiring in
1970 as a lieutenant.
