June 11, 1997

Mary T. Galloway

Mary T. Galloway, 71, of 430 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, died Monday evening in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where she was a patient since May 25.

Born in Plainfield, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Ida M. (Kellogg) Klein.

She was of the Protestant faith and was a charter member of the Gen. George Patton V.F.W. Post 5069, New Ringgold R.1.

Surviving are a son, Nelson H. "Butch" of New Ringgold R.2; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Meade of Rozelle, N.J.; a brother Julian of Okinagin, Wash.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne J., who died in 1992; and a sister, Ruth Hazelwood, who died in 1996.

The Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Rt. 309, Snyders, is in charge of the arrangements.

McKenna survivor

Among the survivors of Mrs. Eileen E.l. McKenna, 77, of 2615 Summer Mountain Road, Palmerton, who died last Wednesday in her home, is a daughter, Elizabeth Ann, wife of Mark Soisson of Perkasie.

Mrs. Louise R. Moscato

Mrs. Louise R. (Perry) Moscato, of Bear Creek Lakes, Jim Thorpe, died Monday. She was the widow of Frank A. Moscato.

Surviving are three daughters, Judith L. Largent, Janice E. Gatti and Mary A. Boyd; a son, Frank A. Moscato Jr.; a brother, Joseph Perry; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The Louis C. Galzerano Funeral Home, Philadelphia, is in charge of the arrangements.

Gregory A. Smith

Gregory A. Smith, 38, of 88 Crescent Drive, Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning R.1, died Monday evening following a one-vehicle automobile crash on SR309 in Tamaqua.

He was self-employed in the timbering and lumber business.

Born in Bristol, Bucks County, he was a son of Robert and Leona (Smith) Smith of Lake Hauto.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons, Patrick and Brian, and a daughter Erin, all of Tamaqua; two sisters, Peggy Gerns in Maryland and Judy Betesh of Bucks County; and three brothers, Dale of Mahoning Valley, Randy of Lake Hauto and Daniel of Bucks County.

The Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, is in charge of the arrangements.

August F. Hammer

August F. "Gus" Hammer, 67, of Coplay, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Allen) Hammer. They observed their 32nd wedding anniversary in February.

He was a serviceman for UGI, Allentown, for 43 years before retiring in 1991.

Born in Cementon, he was a son of the late Edward Sr. and Emma (Muik) Hammer.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Coplay.

Hammer was a sergeant in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Coplay American Legion Post 426 and V.F.W. Post 7293, Egypt.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Gregory J. of Walnutport; a daughter, Brenda D., wife of John Schwartz of Coplay; six sisters, Caroline of Cementon, Rose Shalenik of Allentown and Emma, wife of Joseph Sedora, Marie, wife of John Domitrovits, Theresa Brown and Cecilia, wife of Ray Tremba, all of Whitehall Township; two brothers, Edward of Coplay and John of Cementon; and three grandchildren.

Mark E. Hoppy

Mark E. Hoppy, 22, of New Tripoli, formerly of Lehigh Township, died Monday at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., where he was a student.

He was a senior math major at the university, where he was a member of the math club and was on the dean's list.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of David E. and Gloria J. (Casper) Hoppy, with whom he resided.

The deceased was a 1993 graduate of Northampton High School, where he was a member of the power lifting team.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his maternal grandfather, Frank Casper of Whitehall Township; maternal grandmother, Evelyn MacHose of Ballietsville; paternal grandmother, Jean Hoppy of Benton, Columbia County; maternal great-grandfather, Clarence Miller of Bethlehem; and maternal great-grandmother, Hattie Casper of South Whitehall Township.

Mrs. Eleanor Pandosh

Mrs. Eleanor Pandosh, 71, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Coaldale, died Saturday in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Gatos, Calif. She was the widow of Joseph Pandosh.

She was a nursing instructor at Evergreen Valley College, San Jose, until retiring.

A graduate of the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, she received her master's degree in nursing from the University of California.

Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Lucy (Kasander) Revtyak.

She was a member of the Sigma Theta Honor Society of Nursing and the CAU International Society of Nursing.

Surviving are a son Joseph of Crescent City, Calif.; a sister Marion, wife of Richard DiGiacomo of Bethlehem; and a granddaughter.

The Skrabak-Parambo Funeral Home, 210 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, is in charge of the arrangements.

John S. Morgan

John S. Morgan, 27, of Allentown, died Tuesday in his home.

He worked in the maintenance department of Cedar Crest College, Allentown, for the past year, and previously was a mill worker for GAR Labs, Topton, for three years.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of John J. and Sandra V. (Pavlick) Morgan of Allentown.

The deceased was a part-time student at Cedar Crest College and attended Muhlenberg College, Allentown, for two years.

He was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Allentown.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Jeffrey J. of Allentown; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Helen (Yakub) Morgan of Mary D.

John J. Csencsits

John J. Csencsits, 83, of Allentown, died Tuesday in his home. He was the husband of the late Katherine M. (Heidenwold) Csencsits.

He was a steelworker for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 30 years before retiring in 1975.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Frank and Julia (Shue) Csencsits.

He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Allentown.

Csencsits was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are a son, Robert J. of Coplay; three brothers, Martin of Northampton, Joseph of Delps and Engelbert of Palmerton; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Lewis Zahn

Mrs. Beatrice H. Zahn, 74, of Apple Valley, Calif., died of respiratory failure on May 28 in the St. Mary Regional Medical Center, Apple Valley. She was the wife of Lewis Zahn. They formerly resided in Lehighton for many years before relocating to California due to her health.

Born in Pennsylvania, she lived in Apple Valley for the past 15 years and was a member of Jess Ranch Community Church, Apple Valley, its Ladies Missionary Group and the Apple Valley Senior Citizens.

Before retiring, she was a secretary for Admiral Pest Control.

The deceased was a 1940 graduate of Lehighton High School.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Susan Trautloff of Fullerton, Calif.; a sister, Mabel Wagner of Lehighton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Joseph V. Postupack

Joseph V. Postupack, 77, of Tresckow, died Tuesday in the Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Mary Postupack, who died in 1988.

He worked for the family businesses, Postie's Soft Drinks and Postie's Grove, before retiring. In 1950, he became a sales representative for Joseph E. Seagram and Company.

Born in McAdoo, he was a son of the late Constantine and Helen (Baronchak) Postupack.

He was a 1938 graduate of the former McAdoo High School, where he was a three-letter athlete and president of the senior class. In 1942, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Ind., where he played varsity football.

After graduation, he entered the Navy and earned the rank of lieutenant junior grade and commanded a landing craft tanker in the South Pacific during World War II.

He was a member of St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6708, both of McAdoo; and for many years was a trustee of the SS. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery , Weatherly.

Surviving are three daughters, Sandra, wife of Daniel Luongo, and Mary Frances Postupack, both of Stroudsburg, and Donna, wife of Dominick Piccione of Drums; two brothers, Harry and Alex, both of Tamaqua; three sisters, Catherine I. Postupack and Helen Lauricella, both of Tamaqua, and Mary Lou Postupack of Hazleton; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, George, Anthony, Emil, Methody and Jacob; two sisters, Martha Postupack and Olga Bittler.

The Stanley E. Anilosky and Son Funeral Home, 145 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, is in charge of the arrangements.
