Charles Markosi
Charles Markosi, 85, of 754 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, died Thursday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Dorothy (Petorak) Markosi. They were married 60 years.
He owned and operated the former Markosi Barber Shop, Palmerton, until retiring in 1986.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late George and Julianna (Kupar) Markovsi. He and his parents moved from Palmerton to a village in the Carpathian Mountain region of the Ukraine where he resided until he was 13. He returned alone to the U.S. in 1925 and worked as a barber for most of his life in Palmerton, except for several years when he lived in New York City.
He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Greek Catholic Church, Palmerton.
Surviving with his widow is a son, Dr. Charles Jr. of Hamburg; a daughter, Lorraine J., wife of Dr. Charles F. Smith of Allentown; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Campton Funeral Home Inc., 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of arrangements.
Franklin L.Coombe
Franklin L. Coombe, 68, of 2016 Fair Blue Lane, Wilmington, Del., died Wednesday evening in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. He was the husband of Barbara D. Coombe. They were married 35 years.
He worked as a house painter for almost 40 years, retiring in the early 1980s.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Thomas Charles and Lillian (Gilfert) Coombe.
He was a member of Chester Bethel Church in Wilmington, and a former member of Odd Fellows, Arden, Del.
He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving with his widow is a son, David B. Coombe, at home; a daughter, Barbara "Lynn", wife of Jim Wade of MacDaniel Crest, Wilmington; three brothers, Ernest C. of Tamaqua, Arthur G. of Trenton, N.J., and William E. of Reading; a sister, Lillian Kenner of Kentucky.
Services will be private.
Michael Lazar
Michael "Huck" Lazar, 76, of 513 E. Abbott St., Lansford, died Wednesday in the Hometown Nursing Home, Tamaqua R.2. He was the husband of Martha (Pero) Lazar, who died in 1995.
He was a warden at the Jim Thorpe prison for eight years before retiring. Before that, he worked at Creative Industries, Nesquehoning, for seven years and the Lehigh Valley Coal & Navigation Company for 12 years. In the 1940s he worked in Conservation Corps Camps.
Born in Ronco, Fayette County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Lukac) Lazar.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and its Slovak Catholic Sokol; Am Vets, American Legion and Italian Club, all of Lansford.
Surviving are four sisters, Pauline A. Harvan and Elizabeth Chuma, both of Lansford, Mary S. Papay of Palmerton and Agnes Magala of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Joseph of Coaldale; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Andrew.

Mrs. Mary Kleinhagen
Mrs. Mary Kleinhagen, 94, formerly of Newkirk, Tamaqua R.1., died Wednesday in the White Owl Manor, Mahanoy City. She was the wife of the late George Kleinhagen.
She owned the Kleinhagen Grocery Store, Newkirk, for 40 years until retiring.
Born in Shenandoah Heights, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Hrbobsky) Sopko.
She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.
Surviving are two sons, George of Chester, Delaware County, and Robert of Newkirk; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Russell.

Poshefko address
Ernest J. "Hammy" Poshefko, 77, who died Wednesday in Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, resided at 339 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, and not 339 E. Bertsch as was originally reported in Thursday's obituary.
Charles F. Eames
Charles F. Eames, 81, of 4 Scureman St., Wilkes-Barre, and formerly of Tamaqua, died Thursday in his residence.
Prior to retiring in 1985, he had been employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Education. He also co-owned and operated the former Eames' Bakery, Tamaqua.
Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late James T. and Marguerite (Christ) Eames.
Eames was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Tamaqua.
He graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1934, Swathmore College in 1938 and the American Institute of Baking. He was a member of the Tamaqua B.P.O. Elks, Lodge 592; Wyoming Valley Ski Club; and Parents Without Partners, Wilkes-Barre.
He is survived by a son, Jonathon C. of Wilkes-Barre; a daughter, Kimberly, wife of Charles Ultsh of Kingston; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Fulmer of Tamaqua and Mrs. Scott (Barbara Ann) Price of Washington, D.C.; and three grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Heather R.; and a brother, William J.
