Mrs. Joseph J. Kane
Mrs. Patricia A. Kane, 62, of 24 W. Holland St., Summit Hill, died Tuesday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the wife of Joseph J. Kane. They observed their 43rd wedding anniversary in September.
Born in Coaldale, she was a daughter of Anna (Labyak) Smith of Summit Hill and the late Alexander Kastelas.
The deceased was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters, Christine Heintzelman and Jo Ann, wife of David Scheitrum, and a sister, Elaine Trudich, all of Summit Hill; and two granddaughters.
The Thomas J. Parambo Funeral Home, 54 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, is in charge of the arrangements.
Joan E. Haag
Joan E. Haag, 68, of 4 Blue Mountain View Mobile Home, Kunkletown, died Monday in the Palmerton Hospital.
She was an estimator for Anderson, Dunston, Helene, Inc., an advertising agency in Edison, N.J., from 1969 until retiring in 1996.
Born in Rahway, N.J., she was a daughter of the late John M. and Hazel N. (Nixon) McDill.
She was of the Presbyterian church.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald R. of Great Neck, Long Island, N.Y., and Richard W. of Kunkletown; a daughter Debra, wife of John Lyzenga of Saylorsburg; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Eugene L. Hunsinger
Eugene L. Hunsinger, 66, of Weston, Luzerne County, died suddenly on Tuesday in his home. He was the husband of Lillian T. (Bodner) Hunsinger. They were married for 42 years.
Before retiring in 1992, he was a crane operator for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for many years.
Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late H. Leonard Hunsinger and Eva (Redwinski) Hunsinger Stulpinas. He lived in Weston for 28 years and previously had resided in Hazleton.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Weston, the Weston Fire Company, American Legion Post 699, Nuremberg, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Hazleton, and the United Steel Workers of America.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a recipient of the National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Eugene P. and Bruce C., both of West Hazleton, and Mark M. of Weston; a daughter Karen, wife of Daniel Frey of Bloomsburg R.3; two sisters, Doris, wife of Patrick Shanahan of Sugarloaf, and Evelyn, wife of Barry Jones of McKeansburg; two brothers, Ralph of Hometown, Tamaqua R.2, and Gerald of West Hazleton; seven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Carl.
Mrs. Agnes G. Bartik
Mrs. Agnes G. Bartik, 86, of Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township, died Monday in the home. She was the widow of Albert Bartik.
She worked at Hess's, Allentown, for 20 years before retiring, and previously, with her husband, owned Bartik's grocery store, Allentown, 1949-59.
Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Korauf) Tarkos.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown.
Surviving are two sons, James R. of Allentown and Edward in Germany; a daughter, Judith A., wife of Ramesh Trivedi of Sunnydale, Calif.; a brother, Harry Sniscak of Whitehall Township; two sisters, Dorothy Cressman and Eleanor, wife of Michael Budnassi, both of Bethlehem; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Albert J., who died in 1988.
Frances V. Smith
Frances V. Smith, 94, of Allentown, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
A graduate of West Chester University, she taught second, third and fourth grades at the Stevens Elementary School of the Allentown School District for many years before retiring in 1967.
Born in Slatington, she was a daughter of the late Victor S. and Mame (Ruch) Smith.
Surviving are a niece and a nephew.
Richard O. Roth
Richard O. Roth, 64, of Schnecksville, died Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Wanda E. (Blumenstine) Roth and the late Helen S. (Simock) Roth. He and his second wife observed their 16th wedding anniversary in November.
He was a regional dispatcher for the Gulf and Chevron Oil Company, Philadelphia main terminal, for five years before retiring in 1986, and previously had worked in the same capacity for Gulf Oil, Fullerton terminal, for 25 years.
He and his late brother, Robert F., were co-owners of the Neffs Hotel from 1966-70 and the former Kernsville Hotel from 1962-66.
The deceased was a part-time bus driver for the Parkland School District, 1993-95, and a truck driver for the Pitt-Ohio Trucking Company, 1989-92.
Born in Schnecksville, he was a son of the late William M. and Hilda M. (Knappenberger) Roth.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Laurys Station.
Roth was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was a life member of the Community Fire Company No. 1, Schnecksville, and a member of the Slatington Moose Lodge, the North End Rod and Gun Club, Lowhill Township, and the Copeechan Rod and Gun Club, Schnecksville.
Surviving in addition to his widow is a sister, LaRue L. Wilson of Allentown.
Warren J. Blose
Warren J. Blose, 90, formerly of 4527 Mountain Road, Slatington, died Tuesday in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township. He was the husband of the late Hilda A. (Handwerk) Blose and the late Mayme (Biegley) Blose.
He was a janitor for Holiday Fashions, Slatedale, from 1974-77, and previously was a slate trimmer for the Penn Big Bed Slate Company, Slatedale, for more than 30 years.
Born in Washington Township, he was a son of the late Howard W. and Cora A. (Walters) Blose.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Slatedale.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, including David S. Blose, with whom he formerly resided.
He was also preceded in death by a son Harold.
Alvin Snyder
Alvin Snyder, 79, of 117 E. Center St., Nesquehoning, died Wednesday morning in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
He was a son of the late William and Mae (Steventon) Snyder.
The Bruce A. Nalesnik Funeral Home, 57 W. Center St., Nesquehoning, is in charge of the arrangements.
Atty. Richard S. Enterline
Atty. Richard S. Enterline, 76, 9 E. Center St., Ashland, died Monday in the Ashland Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Ann (Hartenstein) Enterline.
He was formerly senior counsel for the Board of Claims, Harrisburg, former assistant district attorney and had his own practice in Ashland for many years.
Born in Ashland he was a son of the late Leroy E. and Millie (Weaver) Enterline.
He was a graduate of Ashland High School, Gettysburg College, Dickinson School of Law and Dickinson Junior College.
He was a Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ashland, the Schuylkill and Pennsylvania bar associations; American Legion Post, Washington Fire Company and a volunteer at the Anthracite Museum and past board member of the Visiting Nurses Association, all of Ashland.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Joann Woodward of Ashland R.D., and Deborah Enterline of Jim Thorpe; a son, Richard J. of Harrisburg; four brothers, Stevenson of Matawan, N.J., Robert of Hagerstown, Md., Dr. H. Theodore of Kenneth Square, and William of West Chester; a sister, Elizabeth E. Adams of Doylestown; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Marlin Sherer
Mrs. Eleanor A. Sherer, 54, of Orwigsburg R.2, died Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville. She was the wife of Marlin C. Sherer. They were married for three years.
She was last employed at Hecla Machinery Company farms, New Ringgold, from 1981 until retiring in 1988. He also worked for Western Electric Company, Reading, as a tester in the 1960s and 70s.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Annabelle (Long) Schadler Sr.
She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, McKeansburg, Jefferson Grange, Auburn, and Auxiliary of Shoemakersville Fire Company.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Tammy Lynn Schaeffer of Schuylkill Haven, and Wendy R. Kern of Orwigsburg; a son, David J. Reis Jr. of New Ringgold; a stepdaughter, Michelle M. Sherer of Orwigsburg; two stepsons, Michael and David Sherer, both of Pottsville; two sisters, Caroline Shadler of Reading, and Patricia L. Schadler of Shoemakersville; two brothers, Thomas B. of Mount Penn, and Williard R. of Prattville, Ala.; and 12 grandchildren.
