Bill Yost
Wiliam W. Yost, 84, who served as mayor of Tamaqua for 16 yeas,
died Sunday in his home. He was he husband of Alma (Fey) Yost. They were
married for 64 years. He was president and general manager of Remaly
Manufacturing Co., Tamaqua, from 1941 until retiring in 1992. He was still
serving as treasurer of the company. In 1927 while still in high school he
began working at a meat market owned and operated by Francis Lambert,
managing the market after Lambert's death until assuming the position at
the Remaly firm.
John P.D. Nothstein
John P.D. Nothstein, 79, of 75 Dietrich Road, Fox Chapel, Pittsburgh,
formerly of Emmaus, died Friday in Montefiore Hospital, University of
Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh. He was the husband of the late Rose
F. (Frank) Nothstein. He was an automotive parts salesman for Prestolite
Co., Toledo, Ohio, before retiring in 1979. Mr. Nothstein was an Army Air
Corps veteran of World War II having served with the 303rd Bomb Group.
Robert A. Parsons Sr.
Robert A. Parsons Sr., 77, of 1410 Fireline Road, Palmerton, died
Saturday in Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sophie
(Chedrick) Parsons. He was an operator in the field station of the former
New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, before retiring. Mr. Parsons was an Army
veteran of World War II.
Mrs. Marion N. Copp
Mrs. Marion N. Copp, 86, of Effort, formerly of St. Johnsbury, Vt., died
Saturday in Palmerton Hospital. She was the widow of Wendell Copp. She
was a trustee at the Sunset Home, St. Johnsbury, for 15 years before
retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Dorothea A. Hall
Mrs. Dorothea A. Hall, 86, formerly of Jonas, Monroe County, died
Friday in ManorCare Health Services, Salisbury Township. She was the
widow of Raymond F. Hall.
Mrs. Ruth J. Snyder
Mrs. Ruth J. Snyder, 74, of 6335 Farm Bureau Road, Allentown,
formerly of 5321 W. Tilghman St., Allentown, died Friday in her home. She
was the widow of Arthur A. Snyder. She worked in the security department
of Food Lane, Allentown, for five years before retiring in 1983.
Joseph Briska
Joseph Briska, 76, of 101 E. Ridge St., Coaldale, died Sunday at
Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale, after a lengthy illness. He was
last employed at Quartite Lamp Factory in Nesquehoning. Mr. Briska was a
U. S. Air Force staff sergeant and a veteran of World War II, serving in the
European Theater of Operations.
Jose V. Murillo
Jose V. Murillo, 93, of 8 Hillside St., Palmerton, died Saturday in
Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Irma (Juarez) Murillo. They
celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this month. He was a bricklayer
for the former New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, for 42 years before
retiring in 1968.
Eugene Cichelli
Eugene Cichelli, 64, of 16 W. Holland St., Summit Hill, died Saturday
in Palmerton Hospital. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corporation at
Sparrows Point before retiring. Mr. Cichelli was an Army veteran of the
Korean Conflict.
Ernest W. Neimeyer
Ernest W. "Bud" Neimeyer, 72, of Fogelsville, formerly of Emmaus,
died Thursday in his home. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Christman)
Neimeyer. They observed their 47th Wedding anniversary last December. He
was a millwright at Bethlehem Steel Corp. for more than 30 years before
retiring. He also served 41 years in active and reserve duty in the Navy
retiring from the reserve in 1984. A senior chief electrician's mate, he
served aboard the USS Thomas DE-102, a destroyer escort credited with
sinking four German U-boats during World War II. He was recalled to
active duty during the Korean Conflict.
Frank R. Kanick
Frank R. Kanick, 69, of 134 W. White St., Summit Hill, died Sunday in
his home. He was the husband of Mary (Vannicola) Kanick. A career printer,
he co-owned the American Printing Co., Summit Hill, for many years. Mr.
Kanick was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mrs. Mary H. Mudri
Mrs. Mary H. Mudri, 86, of 1735 Meadow Glen Drive, Lansdale,
formerly of Hellertown, died Thursday in St. Mary Manor, Lansdale. She
was the widow of Andrew Mudri.
Mrs. Willard S. Solt
Mrs. Hazel M. Solt, 76, of 805 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, died Sunday
in Palmerton Hospital. She was the wife of Willard S. Solt. They observed
their 51st wedding anniversary in January.
Mrs. Elizabeth A. Dutton
Mrs. Elizabeth A. "Betty" Dutton, 85, of Hometown Nursing Center,
Tamaqua R.2, formerly of Lehigh Street, Tamaqua, died Saturday in Miners
Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of Archibald
Dutton. She was employed by John E. Morgan Knitting Mill, Hometown,
before retiring.
Mrs. Augusta R. Wolden
Mrs. Augusta R. Wolden, 96, of 3776 Old Philadelphia Pike,
Bethlehem, died Friday in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the
widow of Walter B. Wolden.
