Howard U. Graver
Howard U. Graver, 91, of 4100 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton, died Sunday in his home. He was the husband of Clara F. (Dreisbach) Graver.
He was an electrician for the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, before retiring.
Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Urban H. and Ella (Diehl) Graver.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Palmerton.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Lowell W. of Whitehall Township; a daughter, Betty J., wife of Robert E. Hartman of Aquashicola; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three step-grandsons.
The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Harold W. Steidel
Mrs. Jeanne M. Steidel, 69, of Allentown, died Sunday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Harold W. Steidel. They observed their 48th wedding anniversary in March.
She was a crossing guard for the City of Allentown for 30 years before retiring in 1995.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Carrie (Annas) Heckenberger.
She was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown, and was a volunteer cafeteria aide at the cathedral school.
Mrs. Steidel was a former board member of the Big A Booster Club, Allentown, and a former Cub Scout den mother at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Allentown.
She was a member of Club 55 Bowling League at the Rose Bowl, Allentown.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Nancy A., wife of Thomas J. Earley of Allentown; two sons, Bruce M. of West Windsor, N.J., and David W. of Allentown; a sister Gloria, wife of George Butler of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, Robert of Lake Hauto and Leonard of Allentown; and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Stephen J. Tarafas
Mrs. Olga Tarafas, 66, of 1398 Newport Ave., Northampton, died Sunday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Stephen J. Tarafas. They observed their 47th wedding anniversary in June.
Born in Ormrod, she was a daughter of the late Josephat and Nancy (Myzyka) Reszetar.
She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, Northampton.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, John S. of Walnutport and Timothy of Groton, Conn.; three daughters, Donna Marie, wife of Johnnie Welch of Gloucester, Va., Barbara Ann, wife of Joseph Gonzales of Fayetteville, N.C., and Patricia, wife of Richard Mutarelli of Northampton; two brothers, John of Bethlehem and Stephen of Severna Park, Md.; five sisters, Mary, wife of Rudolph Bauer of Coplay, Catherine, wife of Joseph Gabryluk, and Pauline, wife of Gerald Newhart, both of Northampton, Irene, wife of Melvin Schall of Wilson, and Nancy, wife of Reginald Haseltine of Crofton, Md.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen J.
Albert F. Long Sr.
Albert F. Long Sr., 79, of 893 Edgemont Ave., Palmerton, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of LaRue T. (Paules) Long. They observed their 59th wedding anniversary this month.
He was a cinder plant operator for the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, for 40 years before retiring in 1980.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Lilly (Brehrman) Long.
Surviving in addition to his widow three daughters, Joan, wife of Jacob Temos Jr. of Hecktown, Mrs. Connie Anthony of Palmerton and Laura, wife of Michael Castellani of Bethlehem; two sons, Albert Jr. and Donald, both of Palmerton; a brother Charles of Lehighton; three sisters, Verna, wife of Lewis Paules of Bowmanstown, Mrs. Margaret Snyder of Walnutport and Lillian, wife of Dan McGinn in New Jersey; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jeffrey T. Reed
Jeffrey T. Reed, 33, of South 13th Street, Allentown, died Monday in his home.
He was employed by the Amerada Hess Corporation, Allentown, for 13 years.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of Arthur D. Jr. and Barbara (Gouldner) Reed of Allentown.
The deceased was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown, where he was an usher.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Scott of New Ringgold and Wayne of Slatington; two sisters, Vickey Eltz and Lorrie, and paternal grandmother, Catherine Smith Reed, all of Allentown; nieces and a nephew.
Erwin L. Andrew
Erwin L. Andrew, 85, of 352 S. Second St., Lehighton, died Monday in the home of his son Vernon of 187 Church St., Franklin Township.
The deceased was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Dotter) Andrew.
He was a laborer for the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton, for 35 years before retiring in 1962.
Born in Franklin Township, he was a son of the late Erwin L. Sr. and Eda (Berger) Andrew.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton.
Andrew was a longtime volunteer firefighter and a life member of Lehigh Fire Company No. 1, Lehighton, and a life member of the Bowmanstown Fire Company.
He was a past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge No. 650, Lehighton, and a member of the Four-County Firemen's Association.
Surviving in addition to his son are a companion, Alma Neeb, with whom he resided; two other sons, Maynard of Sanford, Fla., and Carl of Lehighton; a daughter Janet, wife of John McGee of Stroudsburg; two brothers, Marshall of Lehighton and Herman of Pennsville; a sister, Mrs. Mable Green of Weissport; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and William.

Alfred Frank Vietri
Alfred Frank Vietri, 79, of Safford, Ariz., formerly of Easton, died Saturday in Ross Township, Monroe County, after being stricken while visiting in the area. He was the husband of Connie (Boscio) Vietri.
A civil engineer-construction worker, he was once employed by Collins and Maxwell, Easton.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Louis and Theresa (Mancusco) Vietri.
He was an assistant chief of the Navajo Nation in Arizona and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club, both in Safford.
Vietri was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving in addition to his widow is a sister, Edith Calvert of Bethlehem.
The Kresge Funeral Home, Brodheadsville, is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Harriet E. LaBar
Mrs. Harriet E. LaBar, 64, of Stroudsburg R.6, died Sunday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Paul G. LaBar, who died in 1994.
Born in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Jessie (Plattenburg) Oney.
She was a member of Cherry Valley United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Scott A. Sr. of Effort, Michael of Dayton, Ohio, and Robert G. and Paul G. Jr., both of Stroudsburg; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Beatrice M. Solt
Mrs. Beatrice M. Solt, 76, of 128 Sunny Court, Leesport, Berks County, died Sunday in her home. She was the widow of the Rev. Paul I. Solt.
Born in Trachsville, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Minnie (May) Berger.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Rochester, N.Y.
Surviving are two sons, Paul K. of Reading and Garland H. of Spencerport, N.Y.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Anna Kushmanik
Mrs. Anna Kushmanik, 84, of 54 Stone Row, Branch Dale, Schuylkill County, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon in her home. She had been under a doctor's care.
The deceased was the widow of Anthony J. Kushmanik Sr., who died in 1982.
Born in Czechoslovakia, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Bukosky) Kralick, and came to this country as a young child.
She lived in Branch Dale for most of her life, attended Branch Dale schools and was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Branch Dale. She was a cook in the parish rectory for special church events.
Surviving are a son, Anthony J. Jr. of Palmyra; three daughters, Rose, wife of George Smith of Branch Dale, Mary Jean, wife of John Morgalis of Pottsville, and Anna, wife of Francis Serina of Lansford; a brother Frank of Minersville; two sisters, Mary Fedeles and Elizabeth Sabadish, both of Branch Dale; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Smith, who died in 1974; and two brothers, John, who died in infancy, and Andrew, who died in 1952 while a prisoner of war during the Korean Conflict.
Mrs. Elsie M. Lindabury
Mrs. Elsie M. Lindabury, 86, of Clinton, N.J., died Saturday in the Stone Arch Health Care Center, Union Township, N.J. She was the widow of Leslie Lindabury, who died in 1985.
She was a welder and cutter for the Taylor-Wharton Steel Plant in High Bridge during World War II and later did domestic work.
Born in Readington Township, she was a daughter of the late William Simon and Maryetta (Thompson) McCatharn, and had lived in Clinton for the past 34 years, moving there from Hamden, N.J.
Surviving are a son Stanley, at home; two daughters, Inez Cavlier of Clinton Township and Sarah C. Sahaycak of Slatington; three brothers, William Roger 'Curly' of Weatherly, Simon William of Whitehouse, N.J., and Arnold 'Pete' of Oldwick, N.J.; a sister, Velma Stout of Chester, N.J.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Sghe was also preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Miller and Harry; and three sisters, Ethel Farley, Ruth Conover and Gladys.
