John L. Gogal
John L. Gogal, 83, formerly of Nesquehoning, died Tuesday in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Convalescent Center, Mahoning Township. He was the husband of Evelyn (Wasas) Gogal. They were married 62 years yesterday.
He worked in the sales department of Dugan's Bakery, Plainfield, N.J., for 20 years until retiring.
Born in Hauto, he was a son of the late John and Anne (Stianche) Gogal. He formerly resided in Plainfield, N.J., and had lived in Nesquehoning for the past 20 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Nesquehoning.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, John of Sciota, Thomas of Eugene, Ore., and Richard of Washington, N.J.; two daughters, Rosemary, wife of Ross Nixon of Eugene, and Linda LaPointe of Wheeling, W. Va.; three brothers, Joseph, Victor and Edward, and a sister, Mary Kattner, all of Nesquehoning; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Thomas; and two sisters, Rita and Theresa.
The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Frances V. Gabbert
Mrs. Frances V. Gabbert, 80, of 3921 Friedens Road, Friedens, died Monday in the Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center. She was the widow of Claude C. Gabbert.
She worked in the shoe department of Woolworth's retail variety store, Whitehall Township, for about eight years before retiring in 1977, and previously was a cashier for the former Courtesy Store, Covington, Va., for several years.
Born in Covington, she was a daughter of the late William S. Sr. and Laura M. (Bateman) Cook.
She was a member of the former Allentown Church of the Brethern.
Surviving are a son, Donald L. of Friedens; a daughter, Anna L., wife of Malcolm I. Pickett of Gloucester, Va.; two brothers, William S. Jr. of Roanoke, Va., and John A. of Covington; two sisters, Nina V. Madden of Herndon, Va., and Sue Graham of Newark, Ohio; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Joseph S. Gurka
Joseph S. Gurka, 76, of Pottstown, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He was a roller operator for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, formerly of Pottstown, before retiring in 1976.
Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late Joseph I. and Mary (Tokarz) Gurka.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Senior Citizens and the American Legion, all of Pottstown.
Gurka was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Surviving are two daughters, Geraldine W., wife of Bernard Franks of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Deborah A., wife of Stephen P. Zazo Jr. of Pottstown; a son, Michael J. of Leesport; two brothers, John and Edward; and three grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Pauline.

Mrs. Edna Ruth Fronheiser
Mrs. Edna Ruth Fronheiser, 84, of, Havertown, died Tuesday in the I.H.S. of Marple, Broomall. She was the widow of Harry W. Fronheiser, who died in December, 1994.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late William and Veronica (Bittzer) Weng.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Drexel Hill.
Surviving are a brother-in-law, Robert F. Fronheiser of Lehighton; a cousin and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Voss and Dorothy Fronheiser.
The Spencer T. Videon Funeral Home, Garrett Road and Shadeland Avenue, Drexel Hill, is in charge of the arrangements.
Sister Mary Albensia Ogorzalek
Sister Mary Albensia Ogorzalek, 85, a nun in the Order of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters for 71 years, died Wednesday in the St. Joseph Medical Center, Stamford, Conn.
Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late Bartholomew and Mary (Poremba) Ogorzalek, and had resided in Stamford for the past 14 years.
She entered the convent in Reading in 1925 and became an administrator on the provincial and local level and a principal and teacher at all levels of the school system.
She taught at the Villa Maria Educational Center in Stamford, where she also served as directress of the Villa Maria Retreat Center. She served on the hospitality staff and was supervisor of the housekeeping committee at the center.
Surviving are four brothers, Joseph Gazella and Frank Gazella, both of Lathrop Village, Mich., John Gazella of Owensboro, Ky., and Bernard Ogorzalek of Lansford; three sisters, Mary Nesterak of Coaldale, Teresa Solak of Williamston, Mich., and Bernadette Lukac of Summit Hill.
Funeral services will be held in Stamford.
Carl R. Zacharias
Carl R. Zacharias, 47, of Gilbert, died Tuesday in a car accident on Church Road in Towamensing Township.
He was a powder burner for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 29 years before retiring this year.
Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of Mrs. Martha (Green) Zacharias of Stroudsburg and the late Ramon Zacharias.
He was of the Reformed faith.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, James of Marshall's Creek and Keith in South Carolina; a brother Roger of Bushkill; a sister, Tyla Marciante of East Stroudsburg; and a granddaughter.
The Kresge Funeral Home, Brodheadsville, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Clayton A. Miller
Mrs. Beatrice M. Miller, 67, of Walnutport Mobile Court, Lehigh Township, died Tuesday in her home following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Clayton A. Miller. They observed their 47th wedding anniversary in June.
She was employed by Paris Accessories, Walnutport, for 25 years before retiring as head of the mangling department in 1992.
Born in Slatedale, she was a daughter of the late Steward H. and Elda (Kern) Bryfogle.
She was a member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Slatedale.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Dean S. of Northampton; three daughters, Denise and Melinda, wife of Michael J. Meleski, both of Walnutport, and Terry A. of Northampton; a brother Robert of Slatington; three sisters, Freda E. Horn of Slatedale and Dorothy A., wife of LeRoy A. German, and Delores E., wife of Kenneth R. Gruber, both of Slatington; and three grandchildren.
Raymond M. Hite
Raymond M. Hite, 86, of Allentown, died Tuesday in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Edna M. (Green) Hite. They observed their 65th wedding anniversary last December.
He was a laborer for Bonney Forge, Allentown, for many years before retiring in 1975.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Benjamin and May (Wallace) Hite.
Surviving in addition to his widow are five sons, Raymond H. and Robert A., both of Germansville, Clarence M. and James R., both of Allentown, and Richard D. of Coopersburg; four daughters, Judith A., wife of Bruce L. Kehs, Kathleen M., wife of David Stenack, and Nancy L., wife of Michael Zahradnik, all of Allentown, and Bernice B., wife of Robert Birkhardt of Fogelsville; a sister, Mrs. Louise Lydecker of Sarasota, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Ruth E. Kistler
Ruth E. Kistler, 89, of Allentown, died Wednesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She worked in several shirt factories in Allentown for 40 years before retiring in 1970.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William G. and Estella (Werley) Kistler.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine G. Mitchell, and a brother, Roy S., both of Allentown; and two sisters, Alma, wife of Louis Cresti of Allentown, and Mrs. Erma Gregory of New Tripoli.
Mrs. Jennie B. Kresge
Mrs. Jennie B. Kresge, 101, formerly of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday in the Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville. She was the widow of Raymond M. Kresge.
Born in Jamison City, Columbia County, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Dotter) Bonser.
She was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Glendora H. Henning of Stroudsburg; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son George and a daughter, Charlotte Saxe.
