Stephen Kudla
Stephen Kudla, 75, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Allentown, died Tuesday in the St. Mary Hospital, Las Vegas. He was the husband of Gloria (Jasso) Kudla.
He was a supervisor for the Libby Owens Glass Company of Illinois before retiring.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Stephen and Katherina (Jaycay) Kudla.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Natashia and Mary, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Anne Cain of Las Vegas and Rose Mary Keim of Allentown; four brothers, Anthony of Moorsville, Ind., Joseph of Bethlehem, Frank of Walnutport and Robert of Allentown; and two stepsons, Shelby and Paul, both of Las Vegas.
Charles H. Englert Sr.
Charles H. "Shine" Englert Sr., 75, of Cresco, died Wednesday in the Department of Veterans Administration Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of E. Jane (Joyce) Englert.
He was the owner and operator of the Cresco Oil Burner Service for 10 years before retiring, and previously had worked for Vogt';s Plumbing and Heating, Canadensis.
Born in Cresco, he was a son of the late William J. and Lillian (Hardy) Englert.
He was a member of the Keokee Chapel United Methodist Church, Paradise Township.
Englert was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Thomas P. Lambert American Legion Post 2540, East Stroudsburg, and the Evans Blitz American Legion Post 922, Canadensis.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Charles H. Jr. of Mountainhome; three daughters, Betty Jane Meno of Tobyhanna, Virginia Marie Getz of Kresgeville and April Louise Palmer of Woodstock, Conn.; two stepsons, Jeffrey Thomas of Henryville and John Thomas of Canadensis; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sterling H. Miller
Mrs. Hilda M. Miller, 72, of 5629 N. Coplay Road, Whitehall Township, died Wednesday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Sterling H. Miller. They observed their 53rd wedding anniversary in April.
Born in Emerald, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Edna (Hoffman) Stephen.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, Sterling H. Jr. and Glenn R., both of Whitehall, Thomas E. of Pennsville and James D. of Walnutport; two daughters, Gail, wife of Dallas Kohler, and Linda, wife of David Pammer, both of Whitehall; three brothers, Charles of Northampton, Edward of Slatington and Kermit in Arizona; a sister Margaret, wife of Roland Heimbach of Bethlehem; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ronald P. Gernert Sr.
Ronald P. Gernert Sr., 58, of Tamaqua R.3, died Wednesday in his home. He was the husband of Lillian B. (Hamm) Gernert. They observed their 34th wedding anniversary last December.
He was a driver and garage worker for the Hamburg State Center from 1976 until retiring in 1994 due to disability.
Born in West Penn Township, he was a son of the late Paul and Margaret (Ginley) Gernert.
He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, McKeansburg.
A 1957 graduate of Tamaqua High School, Gernert was a Coast Guard veteran.
He was a former member and deacon of the former Friedens United Church of Christ, New Ringgold, and a member of the Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, New Tripoli.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Ronald P. "Butch" Jr., at home; two sisters, Geraldine, wife of Samuel McClean of Harrisburg, and Joan, wife of Larry Mehallic of Tamaqua R.3; and a brother Willard of Kutztown.

Evor Williams Jr.
Evor Williams Jr., 74, of 787 Hemlock Drive, Lehighton, died Wednesday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Sadie M. (Jones) Williams. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in December.
He was an inspector for the Carbon County Housing Authority for the past 16 years.
Born in Packerton, he was a son of the late Evor and Elsie (Zellner) Williams.
He was a member of Salem Bible Fellowship Church, Lehighton, where he was a deacon for many years.
Williams was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He sang in the Barbershop Chorus of Lehighton and Slatington.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Evor III and Robert C., both of Lehighton, and William W. of East Bangor; two daughters, Susan, wife of Robert Smith of East Bangor, and Elaine, wife of Marvin Bogart of Lehighton; two brothers, Harry of Northampton and Clinton of Smithport, Indiana County; three sisters, Elsie, wife of Earl Koch of Newfoundland, Pike County, Ida Ahner of Long Run and Emma, wife of William Hauser of Lehighton; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The Richard M. Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview St., Union Hill, Lehighton, is in charge of the arrangements.
Francis Shawin
Francis Shawin, 82, of Manalapan, N.J., formerly of Lehighton, died Nov. 4 in the Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, N.J. She was the widow of Irving Shawin, who died in 1982.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of the late Reuben and Pansey (Hager) Klinger, and had moved to New Jersey in the early 1940s.
Surviving are three daughters, Sylvia Shawin, with whom she resided, Jacquelyn Overleese in Florida and Shelley Roedel of Brick Township, N.J.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 6 at Sholom Chapel, Avenel, N.J., with interment
in Paramus, N.J.
John R. Burnett
John Russell Burnett, 78, of 310 Chestnut St., Hawley, died Wednesday in his home. He was the husband of Regina (Hoffman) Burnett.
He retired from P.P. and L. after 35 years as an electrical repairman.
Born in Seattle, Wash., he was a son of the late John Richard and Louis (Mclean) Burnett.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Burnett was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hawley.
A 1938 graduate of the former Summit Hill High School, he was also a member of Panther Valley Lodge 677 F. and A.M., Lansford; the Lehigh Consistory; Wayne-Pike Shrine; and a 30-year member of the Hawley Fire Company.
Surviving in addition to his widow are two sons, Joel Russell of Hawley and John Raymond of Loveland, Ohio; a sister, Louise Martin of Gaithersburg, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Charles N. Hildebrand
Charles N. Hildebrand, 83, of 308 Main St., Jeanesville, Luzerne County, died Tuesday evening at his home. He was the husband of Martha (Beishline) Hildebran. They were married for 61 years.
He was a diesel mechanic for the former Central Penn Quarry and Stripping Company and retired in 1974.
Born in Cranberry, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Minnie (Kepp) Hildebrand.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, daughter and three sisters, including Gertrude Fritz of Weatherly.
Bruce H. Bird
Bruce H. Bird, 74, a former Lehighton resident, died this morning in the Mahoning Valley Nursing Home. He was the husband of Eva (O'Preska) Bird. They were married 43 years last December.
Born in Angels, Wayne County, he was a son of Alberta (Carr) Bird of Weatherly and the late Harold E. Bird, who died in 1966.
He was with the 17th Airborne Division and late and M.P. during World War II.
He was employed as a machine operator for Bethlehem Steel 25 years until retiring in 1976.
Surviving with his widow and mother is a son John, of Lehighton.
He was preceded in death by a brother Albert.
He was a member of Faith Alive United Methodist Church, Bowmanstown.
