Mrs. Albert Polonis
Mrs. Doris Polonis, of Whiting, N.J., died Saturday, Dec. 7 in Whiting. She was the wife of Albert Polonis.
She was a daughter of the late J. Raymond and Mary (Schultz) Berry.
She was a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Albert Jr., of Avenell, N.J., and David, of Cliffwood Beach, N.J.; a brother, Robert, of Tamaqua; and five grandchildren.
Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery , Tamaqua.
Katherine S. Armes
Katherine S. Armes, 78, of Pine Grove R.2, died Thursday, Dec. 12, in the home of her daughter, Martha LaRocco, of Pine Grove, following a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Louis Armes, who died in 1956.
Until her retirement in 1982, she worked for 30 years as an executive secretary for Peter DeGongh at the George A. Fuller Construction Company, New York, N.Y.
During the early 1960s, Armes was a radio personality in New York with her very own beauty consulting show. In later years, she was highlighted in a variety of local advertisements for the Schuylkill Nursing Association, Schuylkill Haven.
Upon her retirement, she moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she became a resident of the Wong Center. She subsequently became Director of Social Activities for the center, and helped publish its monthly newsletter.
Born in Wardell, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Dora (Hughes) Stoffle.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
Surviving in addition to her daughter are a brother, James Stoffle of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son Thomas.
Harold Seibert
Harold 'Sippy' Seibert, 78, of 1264 W. Minor St., Emmaus, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of Alma M. (Sell) Seibert. They observed their 56th wedding anniversary in June.
He was a presser for the Emmaus Manufacturing Company for 30 years, and then was a bartender at the Emmaus Fire Company No. 2. Later, he worked in maintenance for the East Penn School District before retiring in 1980. He was also a custodian for the Central Fire Station, Emmaus, and a school crossing guard.
Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late Elmer and Carrie (Kreider) Seibert.
He was a member of the Emmaus Moravian Church and its Peanut Gang. He was a past superintendent of the Emmaus Moravian Cemetery .
Seibert was a president and trustee of the Citizens Fire Company No. 2, Emmaus, from 1959-62, and a life member and trustee of the firemen's relief association of the company. He was also an organizer of its '13' Club and served the fire department for 38 years before retiring in 1987.
The deceased was an organizer of the West End Club, Emmaus, and the Emmaus Athletic Association.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the V.F.W. Post and Senior Citizens, both of Emmaus.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Dean J., and a daughter, Judith A., wife of Marshall Rau, both of Emmaus; three sisters, Lucille, wife of Anthony Zerasuky and Eleanor Whitesell, both of Emmaus, and Mary Walck of Parryville; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Cyril E. Vosper
Cyril E. 'Cy' Vosper, 85, of West Main Street, Pen Argyl, died Sunday in the Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bangor R.2. He was the husband of Marion E. (Hughes) Vosper. They observed their 62nd wedding anniversary in July.
Prior to retiring in 1976, he was a crane operator for the former Lehigh and New England Railroad. After that, he was a truck driver for Lobb Trucking and Fiorot Trucking, both of Pen Argyl.
Born in Pen Argyl, he was a son of the late George and Gertrude (Beers) Vosper.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Pen Argyl.
Surviving in addition to is widow are a son, Jack C. of Pen Argyl; a sister, Dorothy Ross of Wind Gap; and a sister, Edith Falco of Kunkletown.
Mrs. Florence M. Greenzweig
Mrs. Florence M. Greenzweig, 77, of Kunkletown, died Monday in the Palmerton Hospital. She was the widow of Paul A. Greenzweig.
She owned and operated Greenzweig's Hotel, Kunkletown, for the past 58 years.
Born in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Minnie (German) Knerr.
She was a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ, Kunkletown, and the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company.
Surviving are a son Barry of Kunkletown; a daughter Kay, wife of Melvin Frable of Kunkletown R.3; a sister Perma of Kunkletown; three grandchildren, a great-grandson and a step-granddaughter.

Mrs. Charlotte B. Bell
Mrs. Charlotte B. Bell, 85, of Bentwood Circle, Bath, formerly of Belvedere, N.J., died Sunday in the Carlisle Hospital, Cumberland County. She was the widow of Roger C. Bell, who died in 1994.
She was an assembler for the former IMCO Plastics, Belvedere.
Born in West Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late John Ellsworth and Charlotte (Johns) Bell.
She was a member of the Belvidere Methodist Church, and a volunteer at the Warren Hospital in New Jersey for over 25 years.
Mrs. Bell was a member of the Easton Chapter No. 214, Order of Eastern Star; and the auxiliaries of the Lehigh Consistory, Allentown, and the Hugh de Paynes Commandery 19, Knights Templar.
Surviving are a son, Wayne C. of Shippensburg, Cumberland County; a daughter, Charlotte Ann Smith of East Windsor, N.J.; a brother Robert of Tamaqua; five sisters, Jean Walters of Wooster, Ohio, Dorothy Martin, Lois Sinton and Gertrude, all of Tamaqua, and Caroline Sinton of Pottsville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Earl F. Knappenberger
Earl F. Knappenberger, 73, of 638 South Ave., Jim Thorpe, died Monday morning in his home. He was the husband of the late Helen (Sensinger) Knappenberger, who died in 1986.
He retired as a truck driver, having worked for Interstate Dress Carriers out of its former Lehighton terminal and the Wilkes-Barre terminal. Previously, he was employed as a qualified engineer for the Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England Railroad at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation.
Born in Christmans, Penn Forest Township, he was a son of the late Harry and Mabel (Smith) Knappenberger.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, South Avenue, Jim Thorpe.
Knappenberger served with the Army Air Corps' 47th Station Compliment Squadron in the European Theater of Operations.
He was a member of the Diligent Fire Company No. 3, the Sportsmen's Club and the Mauch Chunk Rod and Gun Club, all of Jim Thorpe, and a life member of the Lehigh Fire Company No. 1, Lehighton, and the Franklin Township Fire Company.
He also belonged to the Shoemaker-Haydt American Legion Post 314, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Orioles Nest No. 183 and the Packerton Old Timers Club, all of Lehighton; the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club, Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club, Andreas Sporting Club and V.F.W. Memorial Post No. 8008, Nesquehoning.
Surviving are a daughter Melody of Jim Thorpe; a stepson, Eugene Ritter of Northampton; two stepdaughters, Monya Ritter and Jeanette, wife of Ronald West, both of Mahoning Township; two sisters, Eleanor, wife of James Nardozzi of Nesquehoning, and Shirley, wife of Albert Bennick of Meyerstown, Lebanon County; a brother, Edward Kirchdoerfer of Lady Lake, Fla.; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Evelyn J. Kershner
Mrs. Evelyn J. Kershner, 81, of the Phoebe Home, Allentown, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, after being stricken at home. She was the widow of Robert J. kershner.
She was a crossing guard at 11th and Turner streets, Allentown, for many years before retiring.
Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Mary C. (Eisenhard) Draper.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Allentown.
Surviving are a daughter Eleanor, wife of Larry Funk of Coopersburg; three sons, Atty. William F. of Maple Glen, Robert C. of Allentown and David L. of Gambrills, Md.; and six grandchildren.
Truman L. Heffelfinger
Truman L. Heffelfinger, 71, of 1188 Blue Mountain Drive, Danielsville, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of Betty L. (Becker) Heffelfinger. They observed their 49th wedding anniversary in March.
He worked in the lab at the Keystone Cement Company, Bath, for 33 years before retiring in 1987.
Born in Danielsville, he was a son of the late Arling and Ida (Repp) Heffelfinger.
He attended Salem United Methodist Church, Danielsville, and was a member of American Legion Post 470, Bath, and the Danielsville Democratic Club.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Sandra A., wife of Larry Frederick of Danielsville; two sons, David P. of Dallastown, York County, and Tom A. of Danielsville; three brothers, Robert of Walnutport and Donald and Roy, both of Danielsville; a sister, Jean Ayer of Palmerton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bruce F. Snyder
Bruce F. Snyder, 65, of 3354 Franklin St., Emerald, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of Joanne B. (Hughes) Snyder. They observed their 44th wedding anniversary in February.
He worked in the maintenance department of ALPO Pet Foods, Inc., Orefield, for 35 years before retiring in 1995.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Herbert and Pearl (Fox) Snyder ad was raised by his uncle and aunt, the late Raymond and Maude (Heid) Snyder.
He served with the Army's Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, the Poor Men's Golf Association, Slatington, and the Star Hose Company No. 1, Emerald.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Michael B., and three daughters, Lorie, wife of Michael Chandler, Carla, wife of James Caley, and Lynette, wife of Darren Hosford, all of Slatington; a brother, Herbert Jr. of Bethlehem; two sisters, Mrs. Fern Cox and Mrs. Betty Dieruff, both of Allentown; and nine grandchildren.
Mrs. Esther I. Loveless
Mrs. Esther I. Loveless, 86, of Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township, died Sunday in the home. She was the widow of Harry C. Loveless Sr.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Andrews and Henna Winestine.
She was a member of Calvary Temple, South Whitehall Township.
Surviving are eight sons, Harry J., Preston, Rudolph, Howard and Harvey, all of Allentown, Albert C. of New Berlinville, Berks County, George of Slatington and Clarence of Emmaus; three daughters, Evelyn, wife of Donald Smith of Keyser, W. Va., Shirley, wife of Jack Street of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Jeanette E., wife of Ronald Duch of Allentown; 40 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Margaret, Elsie Sicher and Julie Taylor.
Mrs. Anna Apanavage
Mrs. Anna Apanavage, a guest at the Hometown Nursing Home, Tamaqua R.2, formerly of 159 School St., Mary D, died Monday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the wife of Stiney Apanavage.
Prior to retiring, she was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry.
Born in Mary D, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Suzanne Novack.
She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Brockton, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the choir.
Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Suzanne E., and a brother Lawrence, both of Mary D; and a sister, Julia Bubel of Brockton.
The Roche Funeral Home, 237 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Albert Shadder
Mrs. Catherine R. Shadder, Apartment 2, Hollywood Crest Apartments, Hollywood, Luzerne County, died Monday morning at her home. She was the wife of Albert J. Shadder. They were married for 57 years.
She was employed in various dress factories in the Hazleton area prior to retiring.
Born in Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late Gaetano and Margaret (Lyons) Yaccino.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Drums.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Albert of Portland, Ore., Edward J. of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and John R. of Benton, Ill.; two daughters, Jule Ann Perlinsky of Edison, N.J., and Catherine M. Beaver of Birdsboro, Berks County; four sisters, Mary Roman and Congetta Buchman, both of Hazleton, Lucille Pekala of Fern Glen, and Mildred Biskupic of Quakake; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
