Ethel E. Jacoby
Ethel E. Jacoby, 85, of Crest Street, Grier City, died Saturday, Dec. 21, in Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the daughter of the late Elwood James and Louisa (Kegel) Jacoby.
She was a school teacher for 42 years in the Tamaqua School District.
She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua.
Surviving are a sister, Lorene J. Shafer of Grier City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, with the Rev. David Searing officiating, followed by interment
in the Nuremburg Cemetery .
Mrs. Mamie A. Frantz
Mrs. Mamie A. Frantz, 89, of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Thearon Frantz.
She was employed by Mamouth Hosier, Stroudsburg, for 40 years.
Born in Blakeslee, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Silfies) Henning.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Albrightsville.
Surviving are two sisters, Pearl Shultz and Helen Kolnik, both of Bethlehem; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Alexander Werner
Mrs. Carol J. Werner, 66, of New Tripoli, died Wednesday in the St. Luke Hospital, Fountain Hill, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Alexander Werner. They observed their 48th wedding anniversary in April.
Born in Lakeview, long Island, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late William and Ethel (Broggelwirth) Glaspy.
She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Carol Jean, wife of William McCartney of Concord, N.C.; two sons, Wayne A. of Vernon, N.J., and Craig W. of Saylorsburg; a sister Olive, wife of George Von Bartheld of Patchogue, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
Edgar W. Fogel
Edgar W. Fogel, 88, of 1716 W. Lizard Creek Road, Lehighton, died Tuesday in the Sanctuary Personal Care Facility, Jim Thorpe. He was the husband of Edith G. (German) Fogel.
Prior to retiring, he worked in the research department of the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Allen L. and Edna S. (Green) Fogel.
He was a member of Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church, Ashfield.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Ronald T., and a sister, Mrs. Marian Drake, both in California; a brother Arthur in New Jersey; and two grandsons.

Mrs. Elizabeth M. Lawson
Mrs. Elizabeth M. Lawson, 90, of 233 E. Hazard St., Summit Hill, died Tuesday in her home. She was the widow of William Lawson.
Born in Jim Thorpe, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Hawk) Tracey.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, and the Summit Hill Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a daughter Elizabeth, wife of John P. Jones of New Ringgold R.1; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Theodore Glass
Theodore 'Ted' Glass, of Allentown, a former basketball referee known locally, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Joan M. Glass.
He was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc., Allentown, for many years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Morris and Sarah (Rosenberg) Glass.
Active in sports for many years, he was a high school and college basketball official and currently was an observer for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Glass was a member of the 1950 Allentown High School cage team that won the District 11 title. He later played Class A softball and basketball for several teams, including Mack Trucks, Young Mens and the Salvation Army, which were state champions.
He was among the leading scorers in the A League, compiling a record of 186 points in 13 games. In 1952, he was offered a professional try-out with the Wilkes-Barre Barons.
Glass was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He received a trophy when his Army softball team won the All-Japan service championship.
He was named Athlete of the Week in the Camp Yokohama Special Services Bulletin as an outstanding basketball player while assigned to Detachment A, Yokohama Signal Depot.
He was also an outstanding pitcher with the playoff champion Mack Local 677 in the Industrial Softball League.
The deceased won the James 'Brey' Brennan Award in 1956 as the champion city league athlete. He was inducted into the First and Sixth Ward Old-Timers Hall of Fame in 1974.
Glass was a member of the Congregation Agudas Achim, Allentown.
Surviving in addition to his widow is a sister Mary of Carlisle.
Robert Sicher
Robert Sicher, 76, of 213 First St., Slatington, died Sunday in the Palmerton Hospital.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Helen (Fries) Sicher.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Africa and Europe.
Surviving is a brother, Miles H. of Allentown.
Mrs. Evelyn B. Wech
Mrs. Evelyn B. Wech, 83, a guest at the St. Luke Manor, Hazleton, formerly of Carleton Avenue, Hazleton, died Wednesday in the home. She was the widow of George F. Wech, who died in 1987.
Prior to retiring, she was a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company, Hazleton.
Born in Weatherly, she was a daughter of the late William and Susan (Frey) Butler, and had spent her entire life in the Hazleton area.
She was a 1930 graduate of Hazleton High School and a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers and Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton.
Surviving are a brother, Melvin Meiser of Weatherly; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Gimbi and Howard Meiser; and five sisters, Anna Bengtson, Edith Raebenold, Martha Miller, Cora Koren and Grace Penberth.
Anna Pispecky
Anna Pispecky, 82, of 605 E. Ridge St., Lansford, died Tuesday in the Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale.
Prior to retiring, she was a seamstress for the former Jonathan Logan Mills.
Born in Lansford, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Stidenc) Pispecky.
She was a member of Trinity and St. Philip Episcopal Church, Lansford, where she sang in the choir and belonged to the Altar Guild.
Surviving are four brothers, Frank of Mechanicsville, Va., John of Lansford, Steve of Ramah, N.M., and Mahlon of Springfield, Va.; and three sisters, Stella of Lansford, Mrs. Josephine Warner of Ocala, Fla., and Mrs. Margaret Werner of Sellersville.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Joseph; and a sister, Mary Ann.

Mrs. Mary A. Gurka
Mrs. Mary A. Gurka, 72, of 55 N. Walnut St., Lansford, died Tuesday. She was the widow of Adolph J. Gurka, who died in June, 1965.
She retired from the former Pace Dress Factory, Lansford.
Born in Joliet, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Michael Sr. and Mary M. (Dzurko) Steblar.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Lansford, and the St. Ann Society of the church.
The deceased was a graduate of St. Michael Parochial School, Lansford, and in 1941 graduated from the former St. Ann High School, Lansford.
Surviving are two sons, Bernard of Mountain Top and Edward of New Cumberland; a brother, Dr. Michael of Waycross, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Krokovich.
