Rajkowski services
A memorial Mass for Francis Rajkowski, 72, of 257 Whitewater Road, New Ringgold, who died Sunday in the Southeast Pennsylvania Veterans Center, Spring City, Montgomery County, will be held at a later date in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua. Interment
will follow in the parish Cemetery , Owl Creek, Tamaqua.
The deceased was the former husband of 40 years of A. Patricia (Balcavage) Rajkowski.

Raymond J. Schmidt
Raymond J. Schmidt, 76, of Dotters Corner, Kunkletown R.4, died Sunday in the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Erma L. (Possinger) Schmidt. They were married for 54 years.
He was a solderer for Banner Metals for many years before retiring in 1989.
Born in Stroudsburg, he was a son of Mrs. Almira (Singer) Schmidt of Pleasant Valley Manor and the late Jacob Schmidt.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of American Legion Post 927, Gilbert.
Surviving in addition to his widow and mother are two sons, Robert and John, both of Dotters Corner; a brother Clifford of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Joyce L. Behler
Mrs. Joyce L. Behler, 73, of Palmerton, died Sunday in the Palmerton Hospital. She was the widow of Alvin C. Behler.
She was a sewing machine operator for Blue Ridge Sportswear, Palmerton, for 40 years before retiring in 1986.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late William and Rose Mae (Hoffman) Schaffer.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Palmerton, and the Over-60 Club of Palmerton.
Surviving are a daughter, Elsie Mae Paules of Slatington; a son Richard of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Serfass of Walnutport; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Charles Charton
Mrs. Ethel B. Charton, 85, of Effort, died Sunday in her home. She was the wife of Charles Charton. They observed their 58th wedding anniversary last March.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Herman and Amelia (Kopischke) Beckmann.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Eileen Chesko of Jim Thorpe and Diana Rosynsky of Effort; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Edward Dowling
Mrs. Theresa Dowling, 77, of 52 N. Main St., Mahanoy City, died Monday afternoon in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was the wife of Edward Dowling and the late George Bolish.
Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Grebosh) Rompawa, and had resided in Mahanoy City for most of her life.
She was a 1937 graduate of the former Mahanoy Township High School and a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, George of Mahanoy City, and a daughter, Josephine Hellmund of Summit Hill; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Drigan.

Ligenza relative
Among the relatives of Sister Presentata Ligenza, who died Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Hazleton, was the late Walter Ligenza of Nesquehoning, one of her three brothers.
Mrs. Dorothy A. Bortz
Mrs. Dorothy A. Bortz, 90, of 484 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, in Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home, Kunkletown. She was the widow of the Rev. Roland G. Bortz.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Robert E. and Carrie M. (Fehr) Fritsch.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Palmerton, where she operated the Youth Choir and Luther League for many years.
Mrs. Bortz was the superintendent of the Juniuor Department of the Palmerton Daily Vacation Bible School for 18 years.
In 1968, she was the recipient of the Palmerton Exchange Club Golden Deeds Award.
She was a 1927 graduate of Wilson College, Chambersburg.
Surviving are a niece and a nephew.

Mrs. Joseph M. Svetik
Mrs. Theresa M. Svetik, 71, of 332 Sputh St., Jim Thorpe, died Tuesday evening in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She was the wife of Joseph M. Svetik. They observed their 48th wedding anniversary on July 31.
She was a retired sewing machine operator, having worked for the former Arcady Bags Factory, Jim Thorpe.
She was a daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Kochmar) Martino and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Joseph T. of Chalfont, Bucks County; two daughters, Jane Marie of Jim Thorpe and Carol Ann Gernavage of Langhorne, Bucks County; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kattner and Mrs. Agnes Zubeck, both of Jim Thorpe; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Anna Sweeney; and six brothers, Charles, Francis, George, John, Michael and Joseph, the latter having been killed in action in the Solomon Islands during World War II while serving with the U.S. Marines' First Division.

Joseph A. Farkas
Joseph A. Farkas, 74, of 283 Avenue B, Palmerton, died Tuesday in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lehighton. He was the husband of Mary A. (Lieskovsky) Farkas.
He was a truck driver for the Jones Motor Company, Allentown, before retiring in 1981.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late John and Eva (Czverencz) Farkas.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palmerton.
Farkas was an Army veteran.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Joseph S. of Palmerton; a daughter, Jane C., wife of Anthony C. Capone Jr. of Webster, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

Marvin R. Nothstein
Marvin R. "Pinkey" Nothstein, 77, of North Street, Slatington, died Monday in mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home, Kunkletown. He was the husband of the late June N. (Harding) Nothstein.
He worked for the E.C. Macin Construction Company, Bethlehem, for many years before retiring in 1984, and previously had been employed by the former New Jersey Zinc Company, Palmerton.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Robert and Eva (George) Nothstein.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Slatington.
Nothstein was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II, having served with A Battery, 54th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Armored Division. He participated in five campaigns in the European Theater of Operations and received the Bronze Star.
Nothstein was scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 66, Slatington, from 1964-70, and a member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington.
Surviving are a son, Attorney Robert H. of Stroudsburg; a brother Paul of Palmerton; a sister Pauline, wife of Elsworth Machin of Bethlehem; and two grandsons.

Mrs. Hilda M. Eck, 67, of Greentown, Pike County, formerly of Northampton, died Tuesday in the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Wayne County. She was the wife of Edward C. Eck.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late John and Katherine (Schwab) Seier.
She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Hawley, Wayne County.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four daughters, Linda, wife of Steve Szoke of Saylorsburg, Patricia, wife of Rich Budin of Northampton, Lisa, wife of Peter Earich of Bethlehem, and Susan, wife of Ryan Griesemer of Kunkletown; two brothers, John of Northampton and Frank of Bethlehem; four sisters, Catherine, wife of Joseph Tausz of Bethlehem, Sue, wife of John Fandl of Northampton, Helen, wife of William Klucharich of Coplay, and Theresa Ihle of Cherryville; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Mary J. Case
Mrs. Mary J. Case, 95, formerly of Catasauqua and Pen Argyl, died Sunday in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township. She was the widow of Ellsworth Case.
She was employed by the former Hilda Bet Blouse Company, Pen Argyl, before retiring.
Born in Pen Argyl, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Weidman) Bonney.
She was a member of Mackey Memorial Baptist Church, Bangor, and a former member of the Shutanka Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Pen Argyl.
Surviving are a son Carl of Slatington; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elma Weber.
Wilbur H. Moyer
Wilbur H. Moyer, 82, died Tuesday in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township. He was the husband of the late Ethel E. (Everett) Moyer.
He was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc., Allentown, for 20 years before retiring in 1980 as a shop engineer.
Born in Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Ada (Ling) Moyer.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, South Whitehall Township.
Surviving are three sons, Wilbur H. Jr. of Gresham, Ore., Dwight R. of Slatington and Bruce A. of Wescosville; two grandchildren and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Helen A. Schickram
Mrs. Helen A. Schickram, 71, of 326 Rowe St., Tamaqua, died Tuesday in Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of Herbert William Schickram.
Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Agnes (Rimbach) Schoener.
Mrs. Schickram was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Tamaqua, and a 1943 graduate of Tamaqua High School.
She is survived by three sons, John H. of Tamaqua R2, Wayne H. of Tamaqua and Craig W. of Pottsville; one daughter, Debra R., wife of David Radishofski of Hazleton; and six grandchildren.
