John Horoschak
John Horoschak, 56, of 1214 North Broadway Drive, Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Coaldale, died Saturday, Jan. 18, in the French Quarter Health Care Facility, Oklahoma City.
He was a self-employed realtor in the Oklahoma City area, and also owned and operated a real estate business in Palmerton in the early 1990s.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Secara) Horoschak.
He was a 1958 graduate of the former Coaldale High School, where he was an outstanding football player, and also graduated from the former Bloomsburg State College.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving are two daughters, Claudia, wife of Robert Cook of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Siegrid, wife of Greg Close of Boston, Mass.; and a sister, Mary Billig of Coplay.
A private memorial service was held Monday in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. W. Wilson Treon
Mrs. Eva G. Treon, 75, of The Phoebe Home, Allentown, formerly of Bethlehem, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of W. Wilson Treon. They observed their 46th wedding anniversary in July.
She and her husband owned and operated Treon's Cut Rate Store, Bethlehem, for many years before retiring.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of Mrs. Priscilla (Brown) Ginder Tate of Allentown and the late Morris L. Ginder.
The deceased was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Bethlehem, Calypso Chapter No. 163, Order of Eastern Star, and the Order of Amaranth No. 148.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters, Robin Treon, wife of Jeff Sobal of Ithaca, N.Y., and Bonnie, wife of Kevin Kelleher of Bethlehem; a brother, George Ginder of Nazareth; and two grandchildren.

Fred A. Plegge
Fred A. Plegge, 79, of Indian Mountain Lakes, Albrightsville, formerly of Philadelphia and Ardmore, died Sunday in the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township. He was the husband of Delia (Prudente) Plegge. They observed their 24th wedding anniversary last May.
A graduate of Drexel University, he was a civil engineer for the Philadelphia Water Department for 31 years before retiring in 1977.
Born in Atlantic City, N.J., he was a son of the late Fred and Ellen (Brady) Plegge.
He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Lake Harmony.
A member of the Men of Malvern, he was a 4th degree member and past grand knight of the Father John T. Butler Assembly, Knights of Columbus, Stroudsburg.
Plegge was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He was a member and past secretary of the Western Pocono Lions Club, a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a member of the American Water Works Association.
Surviving in addition to his widow are cousins.
The Kresge Funeral Home, Rt. 209, Brodheadsville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ellen L. Gernerd
Mrs. Ellen L. Gernerd, 86, of Belle Haven Nursing Home, Quakertown, formerly of Fogelsville, died Sunday in the St. Luke Hospital, Quakertown. She was the widow of Henry J. Gernerd.
She was a private duty nurse for many years before retiring in 1950, and previously was a nurse at the former Allentown Hospital.
Born in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late William and Florence (Detweiler) Harte.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Fogelsville.
Mrs. Gernerd was a past president of the Fogelsville Fire Company Auxiliary and a former member of the Lady Rebekah Lodge, Fogelsville.
Surviving are a son, William J. of Fogelsville; a daughter, Patricia A. Rader of Breinigsville; two sisters, Edith Stotsenburg of Quakertown and Martha, wife of John Heliger of Orefield; two brothers, Milton and Willard, both of Quakertown; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Russell D. Mengel
The Rev. Russell D. Mengel, 64, of 313 W. Second St., Berwick, pastor of the First United Church of Christ, Berwick, died Jan. 13 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was the husband of Joann L. (Betz) Mengel. They observed their 40th wedding anniversary in October.
He was pastor of the church since 1963. He was in charge of the church's 75th anniversary celebration in 1977 and, in 1993, was honored for 30 years of service as pastor.
The deceased was ordained in 1957 in St. James Evangelical and Reformed Church, Allentown.
His first pastorate was at St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, Jonestown, Lebanon County.
He graduated in 1954 from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, and in 1957 from the Theological Seminary of the Evangelical and Reformed Church at Lancaster.
Rev. Mengel was a delegate to the National Synod of the United Church of Christ and served on the board of directors of the Penn Northeast Conference, United Church of Christ, and as a member of the SWAP of the conference.
Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Russell D. and Agnes H. (Goeben) Mengel.
Surviving in addition to his wifoe are two daughters, Stephanie A., wife of Edward Mengel-Whereat of Frankford, Del., and Rebecca A., wife of Rick Rado of Bellevue, Wash.; a son, Russell D. Jr. of Lititz; a brother, Dr. Robert D. of Mishawaka, Ind.; and a sister Carol, wife of Tom Lantz of Cambridge, Md.

Charles H. Fullbright
Charles H. Fullbright, 90, of Pocono Lake, died Monday in the Pocono Hospital, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Eleanor (Argot) Fullbright. They observed their 56th wedding anniversary in November.
A graduate of the Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical School, Monticello, and Davey Tree Expert School, Kent, Ohio, he was a landscaper and gardener on an estate in Pocono Lake Preserve for 35 years before retiring in 1972, and previously had worked for the Davey Tree School, Kent.
Born in Star City, Ark., he was a son of the late A.L. and Sarah (Hooper) Fullbright.
He was a member of Pocono Lake Wesleyan Church.
Fullbright was an Army veteran of World War II, having been a military policeman in Europe and northern Africa under Gen. Eisenhower.
Surviving in addition to his widow are nieces and a nephew.

Joseph Pribish Jr.
Joseph Pribish Jr., 76, of 190 Dartmouth St., Highland Park, N.J., died Sunday in the St. Peter Medical Center, New Brunswick, N.J. He was the husband of the late Barbara D. (Skillan) Pribish.
A native of Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Anna (Fircv) Pribish.
The deceased was incorrectly listed as Joseph Pribish "Sr." in yesterday's obituary.

Chaplinsky service
Members of the Altar and Rosary Society of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, will lead the rosary recitation at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Andrew P. Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron streets, Lehighton, for Mrs. Margaret M. Chaplinsky, 69, of 232B S. Sixth St., Lehighton, a member of the society who died Saturday in her home.

Nunemacher survivor
An additional survivor of Mrs. Ruth M. Nunemacher, 69, of 135 E. Pine St., Mahanoy City, formerly of Andreas R.1, who died Sunday in her home following an illness, is a brother, Ralph Blew of Auburn, Schuylkill County. His name was omitted from Monday's obituary.

Betty Ann O'Donnell
Betty Ann O'Donnell, 28, of 91 Broadway, Jim Thorpe, died unexpectedly Monday in the Hazleton General Hospital.
Born in Lehighton, she was a daughter of Joseph J. Sr. and Elizabeth (Hilferty) O'Donnell of Jim Thorpe.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.
She worked for the Carbon Training Center, Beaver Meadows.
Surviving in addition to her parents are a brother, Joseph J. Jr. of Emmaus; and five sisters, Kathleen, wife of Jude Hill, and Helene, wife of David Matsinko, both of Lehighton, and triplets Jane, Jean and Joan, all of Jim Thorpe.
The Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Anne Brooking
Mrs. Mary Anne Brooking, 68, of 1116 North St., Jim Thorpe, died Monday in the Phoebe Devitt Nursing Home, Allentown. She was the widow of John O. Brooking, who died Jan. 5, 1986.
Born in Honesdale, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Anna (Galvin) Bishop.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.
Surviving are four daughters, Terri of Brodheadsville, Sally, wife of Blair Redline of Jim Thorpe, and twins Barbara, wife of Keith Heiser of Kutztown, and Sue Tracey of Palmerton; a sister, Barbara Carmody of Sharpsburg, N.C.; a brother Gerald of Walnutcreek, Calif.; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Theodore Hawranick
Mrs. Florence Hawranick of Tamaqua R.3 died Monday in the Palmerton Hospital. She was the wife of Theodore Hawranick.
The John Puschak Funeral Home, 208 First St., Coaldale, is in charge of the arrangements.
