Mrs. April D. Hittner, 20, of 580 Beers Lane, Palmerton, died Sunday
in the Palmerton Hospital. She was the wife of Jamie Hittner. They
observed their second wedding anniversary last December.
Mrs. Laura A. Halliday
Mrs. Laura A. Halliday, 68, of Bethlehem, formerly of Stroudsburg,
died Sunday in the St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the widow of
James G. Halliday. She worked for the Pennsylvania Department of
Education for 40 years before retiring in 1993.
Matthew T. Pela
Matthew T. Pela, 12, of Saylorsburg, died Saturday in a bicycle
accident on Featherman Road in Hamilton Township, Monroe County.
Mrs. Carolyn M. Schaffer
Mrs. Carolyn M. Schaffer, 72, formerly of 900 Sour Apple Lane,
Bethlehem, died Sunday in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. She was
the widow of Ralph L. Schaffer.
Maurice A. Otto
Maurice A. Otto, 80, of 117 South Street, Jim Thorpe, died this
morning in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton.
Mrs. Celilia M. Collotty
Mrs. Cecilia M. 'Sis' Collotty, 73, of 187 Creekside Manor Dr.,
Lehighton, died Saturday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury
Township. She was the widow of John J. Collotty, who died in 1993. She
was a sewing macine operator at Fran Fashions, Lehighton, for 42 years
before retiring in 1985.
Clifford S. Hamm
Clifford S. Hamm, 79, of New Tripoli, died Sunday in the Kutztown
Manor. He was the husband of the late Minerva A. (Held) Hamm, who died in
July. He was a farmer in the Weisenberg Township area for 55 years
before retiring in 1994, and was also a self-employed carpenter for 50
years, retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Lizzie Gum
Mrs. Lizzie Gum, 83, of Saylorsburg R.1, formerly of Martins Creek,
died Sunday in the Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville. She was the widow
of Stanley Gum, William Teel and Ernest Dorshimer Sr. She was a sewing
machine operator for the former Better Made Blouse Mills, Effort, before
retiring in 1978 after 25 years of service.
Edward P. Brewer
Edward P. Brewer, 78, of 424 Second St., Slatington, died Friday in
the Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alice (Stromburg)
Brewer. He was a maintenance worker until retiring in 1982.
Thomas A. Hagenbuch
Thomas A. Hagenbuch, 69, of Kunkletown R.2, died Friday in his home.
He was the husband of Goldie (George) Hagenbach. They observed their 40th
wedding anniversary last January. He was a custodian for the Pleasant
Valley School District for 13 years before retiring in 1989, and
previously was a carpenter for various area construction companies for
many years.
Thomas J. Murphy
Thomas J. Murphy, 91, of 336 Coal St., Lehighton, died Saturday in
the Gnaden Huetten Nursing and Convalescent Center, Lehighton. He was
the husband of Martha F. (Smith) Murphy. They observed their 63rd wedding
anniversary last November. He was a salesman for various companies for
45 years before retiring in 1970.
Russell R. Haas
Russell R. Haas J., 68, of Cetronia, South Whitehall Township, died
Saturday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the
husband of Margaret (Young) Haas. they observed their 46th wedding
anniversary last October. He was a truck driver for the Lehigh Valley
Dairy, Whitehall Township, for several years before retiring, and
previously had worked in the same capacity for A&B Meats, Allentown, for
many years, and was employed part-time for Day Timers, Inc., East Texas,
for several years.
George Pantella
George Pantella, 58, of Jim Thorpe, died Saturday in his home. He
was the husband of Betty (Blacketta) Pantella. He was the owner of A-Z
Fencing, Jim Thorpe.
Mrs. John J. Donchez
Mrs. Catherine A. Donzhez, 74, of 263 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, died
Saturday int he Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, Allegheny County.
She was the wife of John J. Donchez. They would have observed their 44th
wedding anniversary this month. She was a beautician for Michael's
Coiffure, Allentown.
