Joanne R. Barr, 80, of Winter Haven, FL and formerly of Highland Park-Camp Hill, and Lake Heritage, Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday March 19, 2008 in Winter Haven Hospital, FL.
Joanne was born July 12, 1927 in Middletown, PA to the late Howard and Anna (Ware) Kendig. She was a 1945 Enola High School graduate and a 1948 Thompson Business College graduate. She and her husband Alexander have resided in Winter Haven in the winters and Lake Heritage, Gettysburg, PA in the summers for the past 20 years. She retired as Secretary to the Secretary of the PA State Senate, Harrisburg. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lake Alfred, FL and the Gettysburg United Methodist Church; an active member of the Alpha Iota Sorority; and a 48 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was an avid reader, eager to pass along her extensive library of books.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Alexander A. Barr; 2 daughters, Paula and her husband John Baker of Pittsburgh and Alexis Brown of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren Michael Poleto and wife Shannon of Pittsburgh, Melissa Poleto of Pittsburgh, Justin Brown of Dillsburg and Danielle Brown of Mechanicsburg; and one great grandson Zachary Orris.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday March 25, 2008 in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Jay Zimmerman of Gettysburg United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Esther L. Eichelberger

Esther L. Eichelberger, 84 of Fairview Twp, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Spring Creek Rehabilitation Center, Harrisburg.
She was a retired Nursing Assistant from Perry Point Veterans Administration Hospital, Perry Point, MD, formerly worked at Havre De Grace Hospital, MD, and was a member of Second United Church of Christ, Harrisburg. She was born February 25, 1924 in Fairview Twp. to the late William L. and Margaret E (Writer) Firestone. She was the widow of Glynn E. Eichelberger and was also preceded in death by a daughter Lavon Peters and a son Edward Eichelberger.
She is survived by a sister, Theda M. Frischkorn of Etters; two nephews, Dennis W. Frischkorn and wife Monica of Stockton, CA and David L. Frischkorn and wife Kim of Etters; a niece Diane M. Lechthaler of Etters; a son in law Tom Peters and wife Debbie of Ft. Valley, GA; 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 grand nieces, 1 grand nephew and a great grand niece.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fairview Twp.

James Grant Skilton

James Grant Skilton, infant son of Kathryn M. McNamara and Michael M. Skilton of New Cumberland, passed away on Monday March 17, 2008 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was baptized Catholic.
In addition to his parents, James is survived by his maternal grandparents Daniel and Patricia McNamara of Montoursville; paternal grandparents Peter and Ann Skilton of West Chester; maternal great grandfather Joseph Major of Williamsport; maternal great grandmother Kathleen McNamara of Williamsport; paternal great grandfather James Gately of West Chester; and an extended, loving family of many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Romaine M. Hoover

Romaine M. Hoover, 81, of Manorcare Health Services, Dallastown and formerly of Camp Hill, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Manorcare.
She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church, Camp Hill where she was very active. She enjoyed crocheting. She was born March 5, 1927 in Halifax to the late Harold E. and Margaret R. (Miller) Matter, Sr. She was predeceased by her husband, Abram Hoover; and brothers Harold E. and Paul R. Matter.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy L. Deibler and her husband Terry of Red Lion; a brother, Joseph W. Matter of Huntingdon; a sister, Velma M. Pennebaker of Camp Hill; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dorothy Mae Musico

Dorothy Mae Musico, 75, of Hampden Twp. and formerly of Fairview Twp. and Bethany Cottages died Thursday March 20, 2008 in Messiah Village, Upper Allen Twp.
She was a retired Psychiatric Social Worker for the Harrisburg State Hospital; a graduate of the University of Buffalo, School of Social Work with a Masters in Social Work and even after retirement maintained her MSW continuing education requirements. Her greatest passion in life was her grandchildren and traveling to their various concerts to see them perform, but she also enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge, learning at Elder Hostels, concerts, and volunteering at the Forum, the Whitaker Center, the Rose Lehrman Arts Center, and the West Shore YMCA.
Dorothy was born March 8, 1933 in Buffalo, NY to the late Fred and Mary Lodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Thomas and a daughter Joan Stoner. She is survived by her husband George J. Musico; two daughters, Carol A. Esing of Phoenixville and Laurie A. Musico of Los Angeles, CA; a son William J. of Bethesda, MD; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Stoner, Brian, Ashley and Melissa Esing, and Jacob and Jacqueline Shepp.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday March 25, 2008 at Country Meadows of the West Shore, Mechanicsburg. Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Betty Gordon Allen

Betty Gordon Allen passed away on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 in her home in Hampden Twp. She was 89 years old.
She was born in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, England. She is survived by her husband Albert L Allen; a sister Mrs. Wilson (Jane) Moore of Bradford on Avon, England; a brother-in-law Heath L. Allen and sister-in-law Eleanor M. Allen, both of Camp Hill. She attended private schools in Bath, England and served in England during WWII as a nurse with the Red Cross on evacuation trains for wounded soldiers. In 1946 she moved to Carlisle where she was an active volunteer for the Red Cross of Cumberland County. In 1965 she married Albert L. Allen and they resided in Enola, Hampden Twp. She loved the game of golf; not for score, but for companionship. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral, Harrisburg; the Country Club of Harrisburg; the Rolling Rock Club of Ligonier, PA; and served on the Board of the Visiting Nurses Association. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends in Carlisle and loved to travel, particularly on wildlife expeditions to India, Asia, Africa, South America and the Arctic Circle to view polar bears and reindeer. Her favorite animal was the elephant. But best of all, she loved her home, flowers and plants.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Country Club of Harrisburg in the near future.

Nellie (Lee) Elizabeth Snyder

Nellie (Lee) Elizabeth Snyder, 86, of Lower Allen Twp., Camp Hill, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was a member of Shiremanstown Church of God and enjoyed Bible study, reading, gardening and bird watching.
Mrs. Snyder was born March 9, 1922 in Rockville, Harrisburg. She was the widow of Adam G. Snyder and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margie L. Chubb, and a sister, Betty Jane Smiley.
Surviving are a son, Charles R. Gingrich of Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Sandra K. Crisp of Fayetteville and Carol D. Teahl of Enola; a sister, Alva Neff of Duncannon; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Memorial services will be held 10 AM Saturday, March 29, at her church with the Rev. Floyd Carlen officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Shiremanstown Church of God, 35 South Locust Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011. Arrangements are by the Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
