Graveside services for Evelyn C. Brown West, 80, a guest of Thornwald Nursing Home, Carlisle and formerly of Boiling Springs, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
She died Sunday, June 1, 1997, in the nursing home.
Born March 30, 1917 in the Roadside area of Washington Township in Franklin County, near Waynesboro, she was a daughter of the late Anges G. and Ruth Kipe Brown and the widow of Max W. West.
Mrs. West graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1935. She and her husband moved to Carlisle in 1959 and to Boiling Springs in 1967. She entered the nursing home on May 30, 1995.
She was of Protestant faith and a member of Boiling Springs VFW Post No. 8851 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda L. Martin of Boiling Springs; a sister, Charlotte M. Hess of Waynesboro; a brother, Sterling L. Brown of Waynesboro; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances R. Stitely and a brother, Wilbur G. Brown.
Pastor Prue Yelinek will officiate at Thursday's services. There will be no viewing.
Cumberland Valley Cremation, Waynesboro, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Boiling Springs VFW Post No. 8851 Auxiliary, 109 Hamilton Road, Boiling Springs 17007.

Services for Edward G. Murlatt, 63, of Hampden Township, will be held at 10:30 p.m. Friday in the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Mechanicsburg.
He died Monday, June 2, 1997, in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born Dec. 24, 1933 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Rev. William Russell and Bessie Mae Bitner Murlatt.
Mr. Murlatt was a retired Rail Road Engineer for Amtrak, and formerly employed by the former Pennsylvania Rail Road and the Penn Central Rail Road and Conrail.
He was a member and elder of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Mechanicsburg, the Royal Ranger Commander Outpost No. 55, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was a National Guardsman in the 104th Calvary Division for 14 years.
Surviving are his wife, Fern Brunner Murlatt; four sons, Jesse Edward, of Lancaster County, Donald Eugene Sr., of Camp Hill, Gary Lee, of Lewisberry, and Jeffrey Lee, of Dillsburg; one sister, Opal Mae Myers, of Easton; nine grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert J. Ohlinger will officiate at Friday;s services. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Myers Funeral Home, 34 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 1425 South Market St., Mechanicsburg, 17055.

Services for Arthur S. Peffley, 82, of 967 W. Old York Road, Carlisle, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle.
He died Sunday, June 1, 1997 in his home.
Born May 15, 1915 in Cumberland County, he was the widower of Anna M. Mowery Peffley.
Mr. Peffley was retired from Dickinson College.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 674, Mt. Holly Springs, the VFW Post No. 7343, Mt. Holly Springs and he was an United States Army Air Corp veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a step-son, John Anderson of East Berlin and four step-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Carlisle.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Mary E. Eppley, of Chapel Point, Carlisle, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, in Carlisle Hospital.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, will announce arrangements when complete.

Services for James W. Lynch Sr., 72, of 421 Clifton Road, Shippensburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg.
He died Tuesday, June 3, 1997 in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.
Born Sept. 22, 1924 in Southhampton Township, he was a son of the late William H. and Nellie F. Helm Lynch.
Mr. Lynch worked for the former Penn Central Railroad and retired from the Harrisburg Yard division of Conrail in 1984 as a conductor and brakeman.
A member of the United Transportation Union and Durff-Kuhn VFW Post No. 6168, Shippensburg, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Emma J. Brubaker Lynch; five sons, David C. Brubaker of Edgewater, Md., Gerald R. of Orrstown, Larry M. of Harrisburg, Stephen P. and James W., both of Shippensburg; a daughter, Karen K. Spohn of Dauphin; three brothers, Ronald, Gerald and Kenneth, all of Shippensburg; three sisters, Nancy Hippensteel and Mildred Weller, both of Shippensburg, and Zelda Atkins of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
The Rev. Albert E. Cox will officiate at Saturday's service. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

John W. Mizerak, 63, of Upper Allen Township, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997 at his home.
He was born Sept. 17, 1933 in Little Falls, N.Y.
Mr. Mizerak was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a former sales manager for Varityper Corp., Harrisburg.
He was past president of the Central Pennsylvania Club of Printing House Craftsmen; founding member and past president of the Elbow Club International; and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret E. Tremelling Mizerak; a son, John E. of Camp Hill; a daughter, Irene F. of Shiremanstown; his father, John Mizerak of Little Falls; his mother, Frances Duggleby Baughman of Baldwinsville; and a brother, Robert of Lamay, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Frances Bonaros Mizerak.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg, with the Very Rev. Richard P. Waldron officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Services for Quentin A. Naugle, 50, of 50 Eisenhower Drive, Chambersburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Marion United Methodist Church, Colorado Street, Marion.
He died Tuesday, June 3, 1997 in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 31, 1946 in Chambersburg, he was the son of Janet Mills Naugle and the late Lloyd H. Naugle.
Mr. Naugle was a retired special project manager with Sprint/United Telephone Co. with 29 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a former Chambersburg Borough councilman for the third ward, a hunter safety instructor and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church; George Washington Lodge No. 143 F&AM, Chambersburg, Harrisburg Consistory; Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club, where he was past president, and its Timberline Sporting Clays group; Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club; Greencastle Sportsman's Club; Burt J. Asper American Legion Post No. 46, Chambersburg; a life member of The Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post No. 1599, Chambersburg; and the National Rifle Association.
Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife of 20 years, Sandra Fratscher Naugle; a son, Jeffrey A. of Gettysburg; four daughters, Shari L. Seilhamer of St. Thomas, Beth A. Cuff of Fort Louden, Lisa M. Martz of Philadelphia and Michelle L. Naugle of Chambersburg.
The Rev. John A. Ile Jr. will officiate at Friday's service. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, with military honors provided by members of VFW Post No. 1599.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Thomas L Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the church.
Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home by members of George Washington F&AM Lodge No. 143.

Marion Birtley Reese, 87, of Lemoyne, formerly of Scranton, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997 in Manor Care Health Services, Carlisle.
Born Dec. 16, 1909 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Evans Birtley and the widow of Harold Reese.
Mrs. Reese was a clerk for Merchants & Businessmen's Mutual Insurance Co., Harrisburg.
She was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, Scranton, and the AARP.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia R. Fisher of Cherokee, Okla.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. The Rev. Andrew T. Bradley Sr. will officiate at services.

Marykate Rhody, infant daughter of Lawrence G. and Karen M. Perkey Rhody of 5 Gasoline Alley, Carlisle, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997 at Carlisle Hospital.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a sister, Samantha H., at home; paternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Rhody, Greensburg; maternal grandmother, Catherine Perkey, Greensburg; paternal great-grandfather, Kenneth Rhody, Reading; and maternal great-grandfather, James DuBreucq, Johnstown.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery, North Middleton Township, with the Rev. Andrew J. Fontanella officiating.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., is handling the arrangements.

Services for LeRoy B. Stroup, 79, of RD 1, Ickesburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in St. Samuel's Lutheran Church, Newport.
He died Tuesday, June 3, 1997 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born June 15, 1917 in Juniata County, he was a son of the late Charles and Nora Maurer Stroup.
Mr. Stroup was a retired self-employed truck driver and also worked in Sheaffer's Grocery and Pro Hardware Store.
He was a member and former council member of St. Samuel's Lutheran Church in Newport, Ickesburg Fire Company and Ickesburg Ambulance League.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Pauline "Polly" Heller Stroup; a son, Robert L. of Millerstown; four daughters, Carole L. Hostler and Phyllis A. Sheaffer of Millerstown, Linda L. Smith of Landisburg and Susan K. Wilson of Ickesburg; a brother, Monroe Stroup of Birdsboro; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and a step-great-grandchild.
The Rev. Arthur Steckel will officiate at Sunday's service. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.
Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. Sunday in his church.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Samuel's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 307, Newport 17074.
Arrangements are being handled by David M. Myers Funeral Home, Newport.
