He died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 14, 1927, in Amberson, he was a son of the late Harry and Lily Hockenberry Rowles.
Mr. Rowles was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He retired from SKF Industries, Shippensburg, in 1989.
He was a member of Shippensburg First Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Florence E. Shriner Rowles; two sons, Ed and Richard L. of Shippensburg; two daughters, Saundra K. and Donna M. of Shippensburg; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The Rev. W. Stanley Darrah will officiate at Monday's service. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.

Dorothy R. Welsh Fitz, 84, of 2721 Banks St., Harrisburg, formerly of Hummelstown, died Friday, June 20, 1997 in Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Irene Loman Welsh. She was the widow of Harvey Cyrus Fitz Jr., who died Nov. 22, 1994.
A graduate of York High School, Mrs. Fitz was formerly employed as an aeronautic engineer at the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Middletown.
She was a member of Paxton Church of the Brethren, Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, and New Covenant Fellowship of Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia A. Davis of Franklin, N.C., Dorothy R. Bangert of Paxtang and Deborah S. Grenoble of Penbrook; one son, Harvey C. III of Harrisburg; two sisters, Isabelle Welsh of Duncannon and Mary Welsh of Carlisle; two brothers, Lewis and Leroy Welsh, both of Carlisle; one half-sister, Nancy Varner of Carlisle; two half-brothers, Ronald and Robert Welsh, both of Carlisle; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Susan Fitz, and a son, Donald Eugene Fitz.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Paxton Church of the Brethren, 6445 Lyters Lane, Lower Paxton Township, with the Revs. H. Elmer Brubaker and Bruce C. Mawhinney officiating.
Burial will be in Paxton Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Services for Joseph E. Bull, 17, of 635 Lewisberry Road, New Cumberland, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
He died Thursday, June 19, 1997 at home.
Born April 19, 1980 in East Pennsboro Township, he was a son of John E. Sr. and Kathy Myers Bull.
He was entering his senior year at Red Land High School, where he was a member of the football team and was active in the Technology Student Association.
He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 284 of Lewisberry.
In addition to his parents, surviving are two brothers, James N. and John E. Jr., both at home; his grandparents, Larry E. and Joan K. Myers of Dillsburg and George D. and Josephine L. Bull Sr. of Carlisle; his great-grandmother, Helen Hewitt of Dillsburg; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Rev. Dawn Spangler, associate pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, New Cumberland, will officiate at Monday's service.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township.

Barbara E. Nissley Hammaker, 99, of 9 S. George St., Mechanicsburg, died Friday, June 20, 1997 at home.
Born Aug. 20, 1897 in Rutherford, Dauphin County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Erb Nissley. She was the widow of J. Edwin Hammaker.
Mrs. Hammaker was a homemaker and a member of Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church.
Surviving are five sons, Roy J., Elmer C. and Alvin E. of Mechanicsburg, Lawrence W. of Elizabethtown and Carl W. of Fullerton, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Verna Lanker.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in her church, 1050 S. York St., Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Kenneth Hepner officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Eva E. Higinbotham, 96, of Upper Allen Township, died Friday, June 20, 1997 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born Sept. 3, 1900 in Romney, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bertie Wright Everett. She was the widow of Claude Higinbotham.
Surviving are a sister, Beatrice Keister of Bladensburg, Md.; a grandson, Dr. Anthony S. Bagdonis of Atlanta, Ga.; and two granddaughters, Cynthia Rudisill of Lykens and Donna Mangum of South Haven, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Eva Lee Bagdonis.

He died Friday, June 20, 1997 in the Carlisle Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1909 in Carlisle, he was the son of the late George W. and Alice Stouffer Bear and the widower of Edith Stafford Bear.
Mr. Bear was the former owner/operator of Bear's Greenhouses, Carlisle; and was retired superintendent of Grounds and Buildings at the Carlisle Hospital.
He was a member and elder of Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle.
Surviving are two sons, Galen W. of Camp Hill and Dr. Edward S. of Kingfield, Maine; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The Rev. John L. Larson and the Rev. Barton Leach will officiate Wednesday's service. Burial will be in Plainfield Church of God Cemetery.

Charles M. DiLeo, 82, of Lemoyne, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born May 22, 1915 in Chester, he was a son of the late Anthony and Margaret DiLeo.
Mr. DiLeo was a retired carpenter for the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Township, and a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel M. Wise DiLeo; a son, Floyd of Port Byrn, N.Y.; a step daughter, Laura Ebeling of Camp Hill; four brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, Anthony and Patrick, all of Clyde, N.Y.; three sisters, Phyllis Scalio of Rochester, N.Y., Mary Ferrindino and Edith Carnevale, both of Clyde, N.Y.; and two grandsons.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Township.

Christine Ewing McCall, 87, of 408 Lincoln St., Carlisle, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, in Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, N.J.
Born Jan. 7, 1910 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes Scott Ewing and the widow of John Boyd Crum who died in 1950 and Robert S. McCall who died in 1994.
Mrs. McCall, a graduate of Carlisle High School and Carlisle Commercial College, was a retired employee of C.H. Masland and Sons, Carlisle.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle where she was a member of the Uniform Lessons Class of the Sunday School and the Lydia Circle.
She was also a member of Old Bellaire Chapter No. 375 Order of the Eastern Star, Carlisle; and the C.H. Masland and Sons 25 year club.
Surviving are four sons, John B. Crum Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Thomas J. Crum of Dover, William E. Crum of Shiloh and James R. Crum of Carlisle; a daughter, Christine E. Bush of Middletown, N.J.; a step-son, Robert S. McCall of Fresno, Calif.; two step-daughters, Vera M. Evelhoch of Lewistown and Valerie A. McCall of Edgewater Park, N.J.; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Sara Clark, Anna Delp and Agnes Parner.
Services will he held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Jon A. Black officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, North Middleton Township.
