Born February 9, 1914 in Upper Allen Township, he was the son of the late Raymond B. and Nancy C. Garman Smith.
He was a member of the First Church of God, Mechanicsburg for over 60 years where he was also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class; and he was a life member of the Citizens Fire Company, Mechanicsburg. He was the widower of Margaret V. smith who passed away in 1991.
Surviving are two sons; Raymond C. Jr. and Robert, both of Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Myrtle Eshelman of Camp Hill and Grace Kain of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild..
Services will be on Tuesday, August 19, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. in the Myers Funeral Home Inc., Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Robert W. Malick Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Services for Benjamin J. Barklow, 74, of 25 Scraford Ave., Shippensburg, will be held at 10 a.m Wednesday in Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg.
He died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997 in Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born July 14, 1923 in Cleversburg, he was a son of the late Samuel and Sarah Witmer Barklow.
Mr. Barklow retired from Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral, Fla. He worked at McCoy Air Force base in Orlando, Fla. and at the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.
He was an advisor for the Orange County Boy's Home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 350th Company, referred to as the Blue Devils in North Africa and Italy. He received both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post No. 6168, Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post No. 223 and the Minnequa Social club, all of Shippensburg He was a member of the Pine Castle Lodge No. 368 F&AM, Scottish Rite of Free Masons, Bahia Temple, all of Orlando, Fla.
Surviving are his wife, Shelia A. Keefer Barklow; a son, Benjamin Levi at home; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
The Rev. Ernest N. Rumbaugh Jr. will officiate at Wednesday's service. Burial with full military honors will be in Norland Cemetery, Greene Township.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg. A Masonic service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Erma E. Cornelius, 84, of 17809 Cumberland Highway, Newburg, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997 in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Dec. 8, 1912 in Rockhill Furnace, Huntington County, she was a daughter of the late Abram and Nina Madden Chilcoat.
Mrs. Cornelius was a 1931 graduate of the former Orbisonia High School.
She and her husband were the former owners of Kenmar Motel in Newburg for 14 years. Prior to that, she and her husband owned and operated the former Cornelius Self Service Market for 24 years and the former Cornelius Hardware Store for 10 years, both in Orbisonia.
She was a member of Roxbury United Methodist Church and Mt. Union Chapter 280, Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Wilford G. Cornelius; a sister, Leona Covert of Orbisonia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in her church with the Rev. Earl F. Barrick and the Rev. Roy J. Bower officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County.

Born Jan. 2, 1919, in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late James M. and Ezzie Woods Dunlap.
Mr. Dunlap was employed by Prudential Insurance Co. for 30 years as a salesman and held various sales management positions, achieving many citations for excellent services.
He was a member of Gettysburg Presbyterian Church; Good Samaritan Lodge No. 336 of Gettysburg; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Valley of Harrisburg; Zembo Temple of Harrisburg; Adams County Shrine Club; York County Shrine Club; Waynesboro Shrine Club; Zembo Temple Luncheon Club; American Legion Post No. 202 of Gettysburg; and VFW Post 15 of Gettysburg.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Leota Morgan Dunlap; a daughter, Sharon A. Corning of New York; a son, James M. of Glen Rock; two sisters, Margaret J. and Jean H., both of New Cumberland; and five grandchildren.
The Rev. Daniel T. Hans will officiate at Tuesday's service. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. There will be no viewing or visitation.

She died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997 in Prattville, Ala.
Born Jan. 21, 1926 in Leipsic, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Wallace Eugene and Alta B. Stanley Sherick. She was a former member of Findlay Lodge No. 698.
Surviving are her husband, Harvey J. Tesnow; four sons, Michael J. and Donald E. of Findlay, Kurt A. of Sterling Heights, Miss., and Brett A. of Ridgeland, Miss.; four daughters, Patricia L. Shuck of Van Buren, Ohio, Peggy L. Meabon of Cody, Wyo., Jackie S. Hitchings of Findlay and Lori A. Shoffstall of Carlisle; a sister, Audrey Cupp of Leispic, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Morton Weigel.

Born Jan. 2, 1909 in Pleasant Hall, Franklin County, he was a son of the late William J. and Nancy Sandoe Warren and the widower of Ruth E. Bender Warren, who died Aug. 4, 1986..
Mr. Warren was a cabinet maker who worked for Raymond Smith Furniture Co. until he went into business for himself reproducing and refinishing antique furniture. In 1965, he worked for Shippensburg University, repairing and building furniture. He retired in 1977.
He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg and a former member of Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg, where he served as church treasurer for 37 years. He was also a member of Piney Mountain Auxiliary, Fayetteville.
Surviving are his second wife, Mary Shoop Wagner Warren; two daughters, Lois A. Shoap of Chambersburg and Joyce L. Beattie of Shippensburg; two sisters, Ruth V. Norcross of Chambersburg and Betty G. Davidson of New Jersey; a brother, William L. of Shippensburg; two stepdaughters, Norma Harhigh of Shippensburg and Drucilla Smith of Sinking Springs; two stepsons, Dr. Franklin Wagner of Hagerstown, Md. and Gaylord Wagner of California; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-granddaughters; one step-great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Charlie S. Lay, 86, of Big Spring Road, Newville, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997 in Swaim Health Center, Newville.
Born July 1, 1911 in Newville, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Anna Mae Oiler Lay and the widower of Helen E. Forney Lay.
Mr. Lay was a retired farmer and maintenance man at Carlisle Tire and Rubber.
He was a member of Plainfield First Church of God and Mifflin Athletic Association.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in his church with the Rev. Dale Miller and the Rev. Edward Rosenberry officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

Joseph J. Knizner, 79, of RD4 Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Carlisle, died Wednesday, Aug, 13, 1997, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg.
Born March 2, 1918, in East Huntingdon Township, he was a son of the late John and Ann Ziats Knizner.
Mr. Knizner had been employed as a caretaker for Penn Lincoln Memorial Park. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of VFW Post 3368, American Legion Post 446, Standard Shaft Club and the Kosciuszko Club.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Davis Knizner; two sons, Joseph J. of Irwin and Allen J. of Ligonier; a brother, Clarence "Sonny" Knizner of Wayne, Mich.; a sister, Viola Patrick of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Bailey Knizner, in 1988; three brothers, John, George and Andrew Knizner; and two sisters, Julie Knizner and Margaret Misinko.
The Rev. Dennis J. Hoffman officiated at services Saturday at Galone-Caruso's, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with full military honors.
