Services for Charles S. Lay, 86, of Big Spring Road, Newville, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Plainfield Church of God, 2089 Newville Road, Carlisle.
He died Aug. 17, 1997 at Swaim Health Center in Newville.
Born July 1, 1911, in Newville, he was a son of the late Anna May Oiler and the late Harry J. Lay.
Mr. Lay was a retired farmer and maintenance man at Carlisle Tire & Rubber.
He was a member of Plainfield 1st Church of God and Mifflin Athletic Association.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances Shoemaker of Shippensburg, three sons, Harry L. Lay of Boiling Springs, Paul R. Lay of Carlisle, and Kenneth C. Lay of Newville; a sister, Dorothy Nailor of Newville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Dale Miller and the Rev. Edward Rosenberry will officiate at Thursday's service. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. at the church. Egger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to his church.

George C. Graham, 80, of 69 Magaw Ave., Carlisle, died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997 at home.
Born Jan. 19, 1917 in Clinton, Mass., he was a son of the late George and Helen French Graham.
Mr. Graham, a graduate of the Worchester Technical College of Massachusetts, was a chemical engineer for a paper company. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was director of Boiling Springs Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; two sons, George III of New York and Alan of Doylestown; two daughters, Susan McLeod of Middletown, N.Y. and Wendy of California; a brother, Donald of South Carolina; a sister, Nancy Watkins of Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lions Club of Boiling Springs, c/o Tom Masten, 17 N. Accorn Drive, Boiling Springs 17007.

Services for Envol G. Husler, 78, of 529 N. Pitt St., Carlisle, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle.
He died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997 at home.
Born Aug. 22, 1918 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Orden Melvin and Edna Dyarman Husler.
Mr. Husler was retired as custodian at North Dickinson Elementary School in Carlisle Area School District and was a former employee of the Carlisle Shoe Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the military police.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 1299; and the White Circle Club of Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Paxton Husler; three sons, Conrad G. of Dillsburg, Dennis L. and Michael S., both of Carlisle; three brothers, Milford of Plainfield, Sheldon of North Carolina, and Tharda of Newville; four sisters, Marguerite Husler Mountz, Simone Husler Brownawell, Arlene Husler Swartz and Veda Husler Weaver, all of Carlisle; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest M. Husler.
The Rev. Jon A. Black will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Services for Ray E. Kern, 75, of 2191 Carol Drive, Harrisburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs.
He died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997 at home.
Born Jan. 26, 1922 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Frank S. and Anna B. Carty Kern and the widower of June F. Kern, who died June 23, 1987.
Mr. Kern was retired from the Patriot News Co. He was a member of American Legion Post 1007, VFW Post 8638 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Joanne S. Kerr and a sister, Anne Goldthwaite of Harrisburg.
The Rev. John H. Kratz will officiate at Thursday's service. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Services for Clifford J. Luckenbaugh, 83, of 3390 Valley Road, Marysville, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bethel United Methodist Church.
He died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Mr. Luckenbaugh was retired from C.H. Masland Co., Carlisle. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Rye Township.
Surviving are his wife, Olive P. Hummel Luckenbaugh; a son, William J. of Independence, Mo.; three daughters, Fern L. of Rye Township, Jean W. Smiley of Shermans Dale and Linda S. Herr of Elizabethtown; a sister, Marian L. Wilson of Carlisle; four brothers, Charles N. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Harold A. of Harrisburg, Louis E. of Shermans Dale and Chester A. of Carlisle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Grier's Point Cemetery, Rye Township.
Arrangements are being handled by Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville.

Services for Lawrence S. Weigard, 67, of 9 Hill Blvd., Mechanicsburg, will be held at the convenience of the family.
He died Sunday, Aug. 18, 1997 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born July 9, 1930 in Dillsburg, he was a son of the late Roy S. and Elsie Mac Grove Weigard.
Mr. Weigard was a retired truck driver for Hall Trucking, Camp Hill and the former Associated Trucking. He was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Surviving are a brother, Harold F. of Wellsville; a sister, Janet M. Hoffman of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg, is in charge of the arrangements.

Marion D. Holmes, 87, a resident of Sarah Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle and formerly of East Park Street, Carlisle, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997 in Hershey Medical Center.
Born Dec. 23, 1909 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Crawford and Margaret Ruth DeWalt Holmes and the widower of Mary Elizabeth Loose Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was a graduate of Carlisle High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the owner and operator of the former Holmes Sinclair-B.P Petroleum dealership and a former employee of Agway Petroleum, Carlisle.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Carlisle; the Elks Lodge No. 578, Carlisle, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1299, Carlisle; the American Post No. 101, Carlisle; the American Legion Post No. 421, Newville; St. John's Lodge No. 260 F&AM, Carlisle; the Scottish Rite of Harrisburg; and the Zembo Temple of Harrisburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Kerr of Carlisle; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Michael V. Minnix officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. There will be an Elks service at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Private services for Francis W. Lewis, 79, of 525 Limestone Road, Carlisle, will be held in Butler.
He died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997 in the Carlisle Hospital.
Born March 28, 1918 in Butler, he was a son of the late Edward James and Theresa Kreidl Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot.
He was a member of the National Association of Retired Employees, MORA Club of the Carlisle YMCA, and Boiling Springs Golden Age Club.
Surviving are his companion, Katherine Gollick of Carlisle; a brother, Lawrence of Butler; a sister, Betty Lewis of Butler; eight step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Lewis and a sister, Margaret Lewis.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of local arrangements.
