Obituaries by LocationBeatrice "Bea" L. Pero Olson, 93, formerly of Carlisle, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997 in Norwell Knoll Nursing Home, Norwell, Mass., after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, N.H., she graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield, Mass. and was an account clerk at Carlisle Barracks until her retirement in 1971. She also worked for the P.D. Tibert Lumber Co. in Springfield and scheduled installation of navigation equipment for the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C.
She was a member of Holy Family Church and Friends of the Rockland Memorial Library, for which she was treasurer until 1984.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Russell Olson. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 1115 W. Chestnut St., Rockland, Mass. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McNamara Sparrell Funeral Home, Norwell.
Burial will be in Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell.

Born June 23, 1916 in Perry County to the late Samuel and Carrie M. Reeder Swartz, she was retired from House Services at the former Bell Telephone Co.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Harrisburg and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Willard F. Armstrong and Marlin O. Baer.
She is survived by a daughter, C. Jane McQuay, Carlisle; a brother, Fred Swartz, Harrisburg; and two grandchildren.
The Rev. Brenda J. Kiser, her pastor, will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Born Oct. 21, 1919 in Dauphin County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Profater and the widow of Turner Madden.
Mrs. Madden was retired from the Naval Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Township. She was a member of Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church.
She is survived by two sons, Lester Gentry of Harrisburg and Turner Madden of Newark, Del.; two daughters, Karen Brown of Macon, Ga. and Linda Fontaine of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Carl Profater of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Delores Hodge of Carlisle; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township. There will be no viewing or visitation. Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, is handling arrangements.

Born Feb. 17, 1930 in York, he was the son of the late Ervin and Naomi Witmer Snelbaker.
He was a heavy equipment operator for James E. Craft and Son Inc. in York Haven, retiring in 1992 after 20 years of service. He was an avid horseman and attended many trail rides.
Surviving are his second wife, Ruth Negley Snelbaker; two sons, Ronald and Jeffrey of York; two daughters, Barbara Sowers of York, and Joan Smith of Gardners; two brothers, Elwood of Etters, and Calvin of Manchester; six sisters, Josephine Null of York, Phyllis Stoner and Linda Herman of Manchester, Nancy Fogle of York Haven, and Tillie Burkey and Lona Rode of Mt. Wolf; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the late Esther Hummel Snelbaker, and a brother, Donald.
The Rev. Richard Stambaugh will officiate at Friday's services. Interment will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Conewago Township.

Kathryn A. Weaver, 86, of 145 Parker St., Carlisle, died Friday, August 29, 1997 in Carlisle.
Born July 11, 1911 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Minnie Ashenfelter Krall and the widow of Ray B. Weaver, who died in 1991.
She was a graduate of Dillsburg High School.
Surviving are her son, Richard I. Weaver; Shippensburg; three sisters, Madelyn Krall, Tulsa, Okla.; Polly Miller, Carlisle; and Nancy Crouse, Baltimore, Md.; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle.
The Rev. James J. Ferguson will officiate.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends in the rotunda of the church following the service.
Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery.

Ruth Yoder, 81, of 650 Crains Gap Road, Carlisle, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997 at Carlisle Hospital.
Born June 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Edna Mae Reed Stutzman and the widow of Clyde Yoder.
She worked as a technician for Hunt Corp. until her retirement.
Surviving is her sister, Renee Geist of Hegins.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.

Madeline M. Adair McConnell, 80, of Main Street, Blain, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, in Carlisle Hospital.
Born May 10, 1917 in Loysville, she was a daughter of the late Niles and Lula Owens Adair and the widow of Vernon A. McConnell, who died April 21, 1997.
Mrs. McConnell was a former waitress and cleaner for the Blain Hotel.
She was a member of Three Springs Church of the Brethren, Blain Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Blain Ambulance Club, and Blain Senior Citizens' Center.
Surviving are her son, Paul A. of Shermans Dale; a sister, Lois Markel of Carlisle; and a grandson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Three Springs Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial will be in Blain Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Nickel Funeral Home, West Main Street, Loysville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
