She died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997 at Thornwald Nursing Home, Carlisle.
Born Aug. 22, 1908 in York, she was the daughter of the late Curtis M. and Hattie Martin Hollinger and the widow of the late Simon Goodfellow.
A graduate of William Penn High School, she received a bachelor's degree from Hood College in 1932 and did graduate work at Columbia University.
She was retired as a home economics teacher for Steelton-Highspire High School. She also established the first home economics department in the Dillsburg School District.
Mrs. Goodfellow was a member of the Retired Teachers Association; Harrisburg Home Economics Club; Hood College Alumni Association; and Friends of Peach Church. She was also a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Mechanicsburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Harriet Weber of St. Claire Shores, Mich. and Irene Jacoby, Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and one niece.
The Rev. Thomas E. Herrold will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Greenmont Cemetery, York.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday in her church. Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Retired Lt. Col. John A. Novack, 84, of 1 Longsdorf Way, Carlisle and formerly of Washington D.C., died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997 in Cumberland Crossings Retirement Center in South Middletown Township.
Born Aug. 20, 1913 in Coal Township, Northumberland County, he was a son of the late John and Lillie Heitzman Novack and the widower of Gertrude Morgan Novack, who died April 14, 1997.
Before entering the U.S. Army, he was an instructor of the German and Russian languages at Dickinson College. A veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, he received the Legion of Merit Medal. He retired in 1967 after 20 years of service with the Army.
He was a graduate of Coal Township High School and 1936 graduate of Dickinson College, majoring in German, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He received a master's degree from Columbia University in 1939 and was working on his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania when he was recalled for military service for the Korean Conflict.
He also attended the University of Jena in Germany and was in an intensive Russian language school with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Allison United Methodist Church in Carlisle and Culmore United Methodist Church in Falls Church, Va. A member of the Shamokin Elks Lodge, he was also a Mason.
He is survived by two sons, John M. of Springfield, Va. and Thomas A. of Hoover, Ala.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Karen Layman officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery on Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3 p.m.
There will also be a funeral service on Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. in Culmore United Methodist Church, Falls Church, VA with Rev. Stephen Rhodes officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation at the church on Tuesday.

Memorial services for Deborah Vowler Posner, 45, of New York City and formerly of New Cumberland, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland.
She died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997 in New York Hospital, New York City, of cancer.
Born to Joan C. Vowler of New Cumberland and the late Rev. Robert Vowler, Ms. Vowler Posner attended Cedar Cliff High School.
She earned a bachelor's degree in music from West Chester University and a master's in music performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music. Her New York recital debut on April 18, 1978 in Carnegie Recital Hall was highly acclaimed by Donal Henehan in the New York Times.
Active as a solo performer, Ms. Vowler Posner also performed as a chamber musician with the Amici Chamber Players, the Caecilian Chamber Players and with her husband. She taught piano privately and as a member of the faculty at the Third Street Music Settlement School in New York City.
She was active in Bible Study Fellowship, the New York Junior League, the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, the Wagner Society of New York, and the Fort Washington Collegiate Church.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband Bruce Posner; a son Nathaniel, at home; a brother, Robert Vowler of Harrisburg; and two sisters, Kimberlee Skaggs of Chicago and Melissa Waverka of Hummelstown.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland. Burial will be private.

Gladys M. Snyder Wilt, 82, of Landisburg RR 1, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997 at home.
She was co-owner of the former Glady's Restaurant, Landisburg and a former employee of the Department of Revenue, Harrisburg.
Born Jan. 19, 1915 at Landisburg RR 1, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Kell Snyder and the widow of Clarence M. "Max" Wilt.
A member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Landisburg, she also belonged to Lady Landis Rebekah Lodge 303, the Landisburg Fire Company and its Ladies Auxiliary and the Landisburg Ambulance Club.
Surviving are her son, Ronald E. of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Katherine Morrison of Carlisle; a stepbrother, Russell Stum of Greensboro, N.C.; and a grandson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville with the Rev. John D. Logan officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Landisburg RR 1.
Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Joseph E. Wolfe, 62, of 1124 N. High St., Duncannon, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born March 20, 1935 in Penn Township, Perry County, he was the son of Edith L. Wolfe of Duncannon and the late Ira Joseph Emory Wolfe.
He was a retired employee of Quaker Oats, Shiremanstown; a U.S. Marines veteran of the Korean War; a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army; a member of Cereal Workers Union Local 221; AFL-CIO; ABC Bowling Congress, Harrisburg District; Duncannon High School Alumni Association; and the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Darliss Hummel Wolfe; two sons, Joseph I., Manheim, Germany and Robin L., RD 4, Duncannon; a daughter, Pebbles L. Vance, Ocala, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Ronald C. L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. B. Michael Brossman officiating. Burial with miliary honors will be in Duncannon Cemetery.
Friends will be received Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

She died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born Sept. 21, 1913 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late E. Raymon and M. Ellen Eppley Shughart.
A 1931 graduate of Boiling Springs High School, she attended Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a private duty nurse and a former nurse in charge of the Cumberland County Home .
She also worked as a nurse in the office of the late Dr. Herbert Lenton in Carlisle. She was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
She was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Carlisle where she was a former superintendent of the beginners' department. She had also been a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Harrisburg and was a former president of the Business and Professional Women's Club in Carlisle.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth D. Meyers; three brothers, R. Lester Shughart and Harold L. Shughart of Carlisle and Sherwood E. Shughart of Newark, Del.; a sister, Arlene M. Funt of Boiling Springs; two stepbrothers, Roy L. Miller and Marlin R. Miller of Carlisle; three stepsisters, Anna Mae Raudabaugh of Carlisle, Pauline Lohman of Louisiana, and Jean Wickard of Shippensburg; 16 nieces and nephews; 27 great nieces and nephews; and 8 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn S. Shughart, and a stepbrother, John. L. Miller.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Daniel E. Myers, 83, of 109 W. Pine St., Mt. Holly Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997 in Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
Born July 18, 1914 in Centerville, he was a son of the late Daniel and Rose Shenk Myers.
He was retired from the former Kimberly-Clark Co., Mt. Holly Springs. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs Evangelical Lutheran Church and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Betty Cornman Myers; a brother, the Rev. Cletus S. Myers of Wooster, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, North Middleton Township.

A memorial mass for Joseph F. O'Hanlan, 42, of Carlisle, will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Shrine Catholic Church, 140 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, on Sept. 27 at 3 p.m.
He died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997 in Mechanicsburg.
Mr. O'Hanlan was born on Dec. 9, 1954 in East Strassburg, the son of Loretta Rogers O'Hanlan of Carlisle and the late Michael O'Hanlan.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was formerly employed by Hampden Township.
He attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Carlisle, was a former board member of the Cumberland Valley Midget Football Association and a former member of the Carlisle Boxing Club.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Vicki L. O'Hanlan of Mechanicsburg; two sons, Ross and Ryan J. of Mechanicsburg; four brothers, Michael of Las Vegas, Nev., Tom of Chicago, Dennis of Florida and Jack of South Carolina; three sisters, Kathy Souders of Virginia, Donna Volrath of North Carolina, and Laurie Eastburn of Pennsylvania.
The Rev. Andrew J. Fontanella will officiate at the memorial mass. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, is handling arrangements.
