He died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997 at his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1915 in Buffalo, N.Y., his adopted parents were the late Charles W. and Vera Eichelberger Krecker.
He was a past member of First Christian Church, Lemoyne and attended New Bloomfield Bible Baptist Church.
He was a retired Erie Insurance agent and was a former agent for Atlantic Life, Sun Life and Maine Fidelity. He also was a former employee of the Old Sled Works, Duncannon.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah M. Eichelberger Krecker; two daughters, Susan L. Witmer of Grantville and Linda A. Myers of Newburg; a sister, Vera Maitland of Phoenix, Ariz.; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, James R. Krecker.
The Rev. James God will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Salem Union Church Cemetery, Dover Township.

Graveside services for Calvin "Ted" Goodhart, 88, of Messiah Village, formerly of Dillsburg and Middletown, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Dillsburg Cemetery.
He died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, in the village.
Born Nov. 5, 1908 in Newville, he was a son of the late Isaac and Sarah Wagner Goodhart and the widower of Verdella C. Cassell Goodhart.
Mr. Goodhart was a retired hydraulic technician for the U.S. Air Force and the former New Cumberland Army Depot.
A member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, Dillsburg, he also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and New Hope Ministries, both of Dillsburg.
Surviving are two sons, Gene A. of Middletown and Richard of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Shirley Summerour of Sumter, SC.; a sister, Hattie Etter of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The Rev. Troy Howell, his pastor, will officiate at Thursday's service.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Cocklin Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

A memorial service for Leo D. McDermott, 73 of West Chester, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Emmanuel Baptist Church, 200 S. Church St., West Chester.
He died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, at Chester County Hospital, West Chester.
Born in Leadwood, Mo., he was the son of the late William B. and Paula Settle McDermott and the widower of A. Virginia "Ginger" Johnston McDermott.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He flew 33 missions over the Pacific as a navigator and earned a Purple Heart, the Distinguished Flyers Cross and an Air Medal.
He served 12 years as a Chester County commissioner and was a former real estate broker. He was active for 20 years with Alcoholics Anonymous and at the time of his death he was a volunteer and led weekly Sing-A-Thongs at various nursing homes in Chester and Berks County.
A member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in West Chester, he was a former community theatre performer with Barley Sheaf Theatre and West Chester Players and was an avid walker.
He is survived by two sons, Leo D. Jr. of Anniston, Ala. and Thomas J. of Carlisle; six daughters, Virginia Lee McDermott of Waterloo, Iowa, Denise M. Dunleavy of New York City, A. Marie McDermott of Yorktown, Paula A. McDermott and Janice E. Riegel, both of Wernersville and Kathryn M. Bowers of Kunming, China and West Chester; three brothers, Joseph of Reading, T. Dermot of Knoxville, Tenn. and Francis of McLean, Va.; a sister, Lorette Kerns of Concord, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

Services for Delmar R. Starner, 67, of 20 Peach Glen Road, Gardners, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Road, Gardners.
He died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997, in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Feb. 24, 1930 in Adams County, he was a son of the late Delmar and Esther Beam Starner.
Mr. Starner was retired from PennDOT as a foreman with 32 years of service and also retired from refrigerator maintenance with Knouse Foods, Gardners plant, after six years of service.
He was a Republican committeeman for Dickinson Township; a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Goodyear; Sheriff's Association; National Rifle Association; Upper Adams, Adams County and Mt. Holly Springs Fish and Game associations; and Biglerville Historical and Preservation Society.
Surviving are his wife, Helen M. Cline Starner; two sons, Leslie D. of Gardners and Lynn R. of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Lloy Brough of Gardners; eight brothers, Allen, Lowell, Galen, Larry, Sherle, Terry, Barry, and Benny; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Starner Bender, who died Dec. 11, 1995.
The Rev. Kenneth G. Swick will officiate at Wednesday's service. Burial will be in Goodyear Cemetery, Dickinson Township.

Mr. Starner had been employed as a heavy equipment operator by McCoy Brothers, Mt. Holly Springs, for many years.
He was a member of Uriah United Methodist Church, Gardners, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Jean R. Beam Starner; two daughters, Connie E. Adams of Biglerville and Luann S. VanMetre of Fairfield; a sister, Verdella Davis of Gardners; two brothers, Ellis and Edgar, both of Gardners; one half-brother, Russell Kuhn of Lemoyne; and five grandchildren.
The Rev. Richard L. Reese will officiate at Wednesday's service. Burial will be in Uriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gardners.

Mr. Conklin, of 122 Strayer Drive, Carlisle, died Aug. 23, 1997, in Carlisle Hospital.
He was a retired teacher for Carlisle Area School District and retired as a colonel from the U.S. Army in 1970.
He served in World War II, the Korean War and served two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts and served in the First Cavalry Division when it was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth D. Cauley Conklin; a daughter, Lynn Conklin Power; a son, James T.; a brother, John; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia.
Memorial services for Marion Burtnett Carpenter, 99, of Willow Street, formerly of Landsdowne, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 S. Decatur St., Strasburg.
She died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997 at Willow Valley Lakes Health Care Center after a long illness.
Born in Landisburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella Stahlnecker Burtnett and the widow of E.F. Carpenter Jr., who died in 1969.
Mrs. Carpenter worked as a registered nurse in the Philadelphia area for various hospitals. She was a 1923 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia.
She was a member of Yeadon Presbyterian Church, Yeadon, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Garden Club of Lansdowne and the 20th Century Club of Lansdowne.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Anne Suplee of Malvern, Claire C. Byler of Broomall, and Sara Jane Arniel of West Chester; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene F.
The Rev. Steve W. Clark and the Rev. Jennifer B. Clark will officiate at services. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mary E. Shapiro, 75, of Messiah Village, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997 at the Village.
Born March 16, 1922 in Harrisburg to the late Ralph L. and Anna Stever Earley, she was the widow of the late Jack C. Shapiro.
A housewife, she was a member of the Messiah Village Brethren in Christ Church, Mechanicsburg.
She is survived by a son, Ralph E. Shaeffer of Fall River, Mass.; a daughter, Carol E. Schrum of Landisburg; a sister, Pauline L. Burrell of Harrisburg; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at the convenience of her family. Cocklin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
