He died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997 after an extended illness.
Born March 5, 1916 in Erie to Greek immigrants, the family moved to Carlisle, where they ran a family restaurant business.
Mr. Alexis had been a self-employed businessman in the Harrisburg area for many years prior to his retirement in 1978. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Order of the Ahepa.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Caroline Alexis; a son, John P. of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Georgiann Heidbreder of Quiney, Ill. and Stella Wagner of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Christina McCormick and Alice Leddy of Carlisle, three grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St., Camp Hill.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Camp Hill.
Funeral services for George D. Benedum Jr., 76, of Upper Allen Township, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St., Camp Hill.
He died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997 in Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.
He was retired as an accountant for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, during which he was taken as a POW by Japan.
Mr. Benedum attended Olivet Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg and was a member of The American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor Inc., American Legion Post 27, Mechanicsburg Senior Center, AARP and PARSE.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Hammond Benedum; two daughters, Judith J. Brodovicz of Mechanicsburg and Barbara B. Rower of Enola, a brother, James A. of Little Rock, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Cicely A. Donnelly, 96, formerly of Carlisle, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997 at Sunbelt Health Center, Orlando, Fla.
Born in New Bloomfield, she moved to Clearwater, Fla., in 1959 after living in Carlisle.
The widow of Jesse V. Donnelly, who owned a service station in Carlisle, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane Donnelly McKinney and Edith Reamer, both of Orlando, Fla., and Betty Donnelly Cortner of Miami, Fla.; two sons, Charles Donnelly of Camp Hill and Jesse Donnelly Jr. of Carlisle; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services were arranged through Moss-Feaster Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Belcher Road Chapel, Clearwater, Fla.
Virginia L. Kepner, 90, of 201 Schoolhouse Apartments, Duncannon, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997 in her home.
Born June 7, 1907 in Newport, she was a daughter of the late Lewis W. and Amanda Belle Moretz Ferguson and was the widow of C. Deo Kepner.
Mrs. Kepner was a member of New Buffalo United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Lewis D. of Duncannon; a sister, Joy B. Richard of New Bloomfield; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High St., Duncannon, with the Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Graveside services for Betty Jane Rice, 69, formerly of Landisburg, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Landisburg Cemetery.
She died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Jan. 24, 1928 at RD1 Elliottsburg, she was a daughter of the late Russell C. and Pearl M. Morrison Rice.
Surviving are two brothers, Frank N. of Harrisburg and James R. of Landisburg; three sisters, Helen R. Sheaffer of Landisburg, Dorothy M. McCormick of Cleveland, Ohio, and R. Joanne Rice Jeffries of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John M. and Benjamin P. Rice.
The Rev. Marvin Hoffman will officiate at Thursday's service. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Funeral services for Bruce Brumley, 57, of Carlisle, formerly of Berea, Kan., were held Sept. 27 at Horse Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Summer officiating.
He died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
A graduate of Berea High School and of Berea College, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966. He was retired from IBM Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Gatliff Brumley; a son, Ronald of Carlisle; a daughter, Dawn B. Grago of York; a brother, Don of Versailles, Kan.; two sisters, Barbara B. Woods of Warner-Robins, Ga. and Gayle B. Mautner of Tampa, Fla.; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kaye B. Hamilton.
Burial was in the Engine Cemetery. Rominger Funeral Home in Manchester, Kan. was in charge of the arrangements.
A memorial service for Bruce Dallas, 49, of Hampden Township, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 N. 23rd St., Camp Hill.
He died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997 after a protracted illness.
He was a 1966 graduate of Cumberland Valley, where he was class president four times and state high jump champion twice. He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Mr. Dallas was a reporter for the Associated Press in Philadelphia and Harrisburg and wrote for newspapers in the Philadelphia area, winning awards from the Associated Press and the American Bar Association.
He also was press secretary for Pennsylvania's former Department of Environmental Resources, where he received awards from the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation, International Association of Business Communicators and the Council of State Governments.
He was an associate director for Associated Petroleum Industries of Pennsylvania.
He was active in the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League, Cumberland Valley Youth Basketball Association and the YMCA Indian Guides and Indian Princess programs. He was a coach for both boys' and girls' sports.
He served as a VISTA volunteer in Westmoreland County and as a recruiter for VISTA and the Peace Corps.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia; a daughter, Cory; a son, Adam; a brother, Charles C. of Philadelphia; and a sister, Barbara Palmer of Virginia.
Friends and family are invited to the Dallas home after Thursday's service. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Born Jan. 24, 1937 in Southampton Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Harvey and Anna Morrison Diehl.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was the Lance distributor for the Shippensburg area. He also bowled with a number of local bowling teams.
He was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God and its men's Bible class; the Tanglewood Hunting Club; Washington Encampment 645 Patriotic Order of the Sons of America; LSL Sportsmen's Club; Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Club; HUB City Club; Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223; Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168; and Orrstown Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, S. Joanne Bender Diehl; two daughters, Tina M. Anderson of Boiling Springs and Susan D. Chamberlin of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Edgar N. and Harvey A., both of Shippensburg; four sisters, Janet E. Mowery of Carlisle, Nancy M. Garman and Martha J. Minor of Shippensburg and Anna L. Noel of Lanham, Md.; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
