He died Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997 at the West Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center, Camp Hill.
Born Sept. 5, 1923 in Karthaus, Clearfield, County, he was the son of the late Airy and Jane Brown Shope.
He was a retired manufacturer's representative and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School and attended Penn State University.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Lambert of Slidell, La. and Stephanie Disson of Potomac, Md; three sons, R. Jeffrey Shope of Fort Worth, Texas, Gregory Shope of Atlanta, Ga. and Bradley Shope of Salem, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are by Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon. There will be no viewing.

A memorial service for Vernel B. Zeigler, 74, of 115 April Drive, Camp Hill, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut Street, Camp Hill.
She died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997 in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was retired from D&H Distributing Co., where she worked as a clerk, and was a graduate of Carlisle High School.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Zeigler of Newville and Michael Zeigler of Newark, Del.; and a daughter, Susan Eickhoff of Franklintown.
Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are by Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.

Joseph G. Baumgartner, 71, of Susquehanna Township, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997 at Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.
Retired from the Harrisburg Housing Authority after 26 years of service, he was a member of the American Legion in Enola and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving is his wife, Joanne Baumgartner of Susquehanna Township; two sons, Joseph H. and Charles D. Baumgartner of Harrisburg; five daughters, Margaret Brehm, Penny Marie Lindsay and Paula J. Baumgartner of Harrisburg, Pamela Jo Baumgartner and Patricia L. Lewis of Steelton; nine sisters, Margaret Farling of Enola, Mary Carbaugh of Liverpool, Theresa Eppley, Rosemarie Baumgartner, Anna May Waltman and Jeanette Hoover of Harrisburg, Katherine Rhinehart of Jacksontown and Frances Daubert of Baltimore, Md.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Dailey Funeral Home, Penbrook. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

E. Lee Feuchtenberger, 69, formerly of 129 Beetem Hollow Road, Newville, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Oct. 8, 1928 in Halifax, he was a son of the late Francis and Nancy Pence Feuchtenberger.
Mr. Feuchtenberger was a retired self-employed carpenter and a graduate of Boiling Springs High School.
A member of Elks, Eagles, and Moose lodges, all of Carlisle, and Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post 674, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Army Corps of Engineers.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin J. and William L., both of Newville; two daughters, Vickie F. Wallick of Newville and Kathy L. Feuchtenberger of Harrisburg; a brother, Fred of Carlisle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Lynn Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Kutz's Cemetery, Middlesex Township.

She died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1906 in Penn Township, she was a daughter of the late Anson E. and Sara Ann Mohler Rynard and was the widow of J. Lester Finkey, who died in 1976.
Mrs. Finkey, a 1925 graduate of Carlisle High School, formerly worked at Bowman's Department Store in Carlisle and was a volunteer at Carlisle Hospital.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Carlisle, the Ever Faithful Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women, both of her church.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert V. Rynard of Hanover and William L. Rynard of Carlisle; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Finkey; four brothers, John, George, Leroy and Anson Rynard; and a sister, Martha Rynard.
The Rev. Dr. Marlin l. Snider and the Rev. Eric J. Shafer will officiate at Friday's service.

She died Monday, Oct. 6, 1997 at Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
Born May 19, 1920 in Harrisburg to the late Edwin Beck and Esther Schrawder, she was the widow of Bruce A. Hoover.
Mrs. Hoover was employed by Susquehanna Township High School as a clerk until retiring in 1977. She was a member of Brookfield Bible Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Beaver of Millerstown; a son, Philip A. Duty of Harrisburg; a stepson, Wesley J. Duty of Harrisburg; two sisters, Grace Hetrick of Duncannon and Lilly Rauch of Chambersburg; and four grandsons.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Born in Zallejo, Calif., she was a daughter of the late N. Merchant and Josephine Emma Morse Lord and the widow of Frederick N. Scholtz.
Mrs. Scholtz was a retired teacher from Adams, N.Y. She was the first kindergarten teacher in Riverhead, N.Y., with more than 30 years of service.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and a life member of Order of Eastern Star, Sunrise Chapter No. 399 of Riverhead.
Surviving is her brother, Nelville B. Lord of Camp Hill.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Riverhead Cemetery, Suffolk County, N.Y., with the Rev. Walfred W. Scofield officiating.

Martha M. Bartley, 92, of Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997 at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born Jan. 12, 1905 in Duncannon, the daughter of the late Blake and Ethel Graybill Winter and the widow of Stewart J. Bartley.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris B. Robison of Huntsville, Ala; two sisters, Sara Watts of Duncannon and Helen Smith of Enola; and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High St., Duncannon, with the Rev. Dorothy Mitchell officiating.
