S. Grover Starner, 98, formerly of 756 Gun Club Road, York Springs, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997 in Forest Park Nursing Home, Carlisle.
Born July 4, 1899 in Menallen Township, Adams County, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Rosie P. Starner Starner.
His first wife, Mary Ann Stouffer Starner, died in 1955 and his second wife, Mabel Brenizer Starner, died in 1991.
A former employee of Knouse Foods Coop Inc., Peach Glen, for 40 years, Mr. Starner was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Cornelius S. of York Springs; one stepson, Clarence Brenizer of Carlisle; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Wilson of Newport, Va.; two sisters, Marion Black of Biglerville and Bertha Murtoff of Gardners; three brothers, Roland of New Oxford and Richard and Ralph, both of Gardners; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Bendersville, with the Rev. Douglas C. Hahn officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Services for Miriam Mansberger, 96, of Eagle River, Wis., formerly of New Cumberland, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, 228 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
She died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997 in Eagle River Health Care Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 4, 1901 in New Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Ann Ross Koch. She was the widow of Bruce Mansberger.
Mrs. Mansberger was a graduate of the former Harrisburg School of Business and was a retired secretary for the school.
She was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland.
Surviving are one daughter, Lois M. Mansberger of Sugar Camp, Wis.
The Rev. Robert A. Graybill will officiate at Thursday's service. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Township, York County.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church.

David E. Szoszorek, 50, of New Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 in Harrisburg Hospital.
Born Aug. 31, 1947 in Erie, he was a son of the late Clarence F. and Marian Yesionowski Szoszorek.
Mr. Szoszorek, a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was a maintenance supervisor for Hershey Chocolate, North America.
He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, Donna L. Shenck Szoszorek; a son, Shannon M. at home; a daughter, Shayna M. at home; two brothers, James C. of Easton and Clarence M. of Erie; and a sister, Linda Radomski of Erie.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ryan C. Szoszorek and a brother, Gerald Szoszorek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. and from 2 to 2:30 Tuesday in Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Ruby D. Wirsing, 93, of 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 in Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
Born Feb. 22, 1904 in Dawson, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Catherine Knight Craig and the widow of Clarence S. Wirsing.
Mrs. Wirsing was a school teacher in the Pittsburgh area as well as a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Surviving are a daughter Grace Browne of Lutherville, Md.; a half sister, Nina Wardrop of McKeesport; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Shaw.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Chapel Pointe at Carlisle with the Rev. Tom R. Rowett officiating. Burial will be in Kutz's Cemetery, Middlesex Township.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Monday in the chapel.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, is handling the arrangements.

Harry R. Meals Sr., 74, of 181 Pine School Road, Gardners, died Friday, October 17, 1997, at Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Adams County and was son of the late Paul and Nora Kuntz Meals.
He was retired from New Cumberland Army Depot, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn R. Sweeney Meals; one daughter, Rosa Lee Meals of Lewisberry; seven sons, Harry R. Jr. of Gettysburg, Stanley T. of Newport, Roy J. and Gary E. of Shippensburg, Sterling W. of Davenport, Iowa, Gilbert D. of Gardners and Kermit W. of Dover; three sisters, Virginia Ecker and Helen Starner of Gardners and Jean King of Mt. Joy, 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and
He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon in the Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave. in Mt. Holly Springs, with the Rev. Wayne Wheeler officiating.
Interment will be in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. until noon in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harvest Time Gospel Hour, Box 5514, Harrisburg, 17110.

Beatrice May Mander, 86, of 907 Vienna Road Niles, OH, died Saturday, October 18, 1997 in her home.
Hoffman-Roth will announce arrangements when complete.

Herman Mandich, 88, of Carlisle, formerly of Trafford, died Saturday, October 18, 1997 at his home.
He was born August 5, 1909 in Herminie, a son of the late David and Mary Afric Mandich.
He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Carlisle.
Prior to retirement in 1975 he was a fire inspector with Westinghouse Electric, Trafford Plant.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Sadar Mandich; three sons, Edward C. of Rockville, Md.; Carl H. of Boiling Springs; Joseph G. of Beaufort, S.C.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the David A. Ritter Funeral Home, 220 Edgewood Ave., Trafford.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Regis Church, Trafford.
Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
Ronan Funeral Home, South Middleton Township, is handling local arrangements.

Services for Elizabeth T. Noftsker, 84, of ManorCare Health Services, South Middleton Township, formerly of Shippensburg, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg.
She died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997 in ManorCare.
Born Sept. 24, 1913 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Paul B. and Ella Coffey Noftsker.
A 1931 graduate of Shippensburg High School and a 1935 graduate of Shippensburg University, Miss Noftsker worked for one year at the Shippensburg News Chronicle following graduation. From 1936 to 1947, she was registrar at Shippensburg State Teachers College, also serving as dean of women from 1943 until 1945. From 1947 until 1949, she was head resident at Syracuse University. In 1949 she received her master's degree in student personnel administration from Syracuse University. She was was employed by the University of Connecticut at Storrs from 1950 until her retirement in 1971.
She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta Honorary Educational Fraternity, National Association of Deans of Women, University Association of College Women, University of Connecticut Women's Faculty Club and was past president of Connecticut Association of Women Deans and Counselors.
Her local memberships include Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg Historical Society, Shippensburg Civic Club and Shippensburg College Club.
Surviving are her sister, Carolyn N. Seeger of Venice, Fla.; and two nephews.
The Rev. Bonnie B. Hoffman will officiate at Wednesday's service. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
There will be no viewing; however, friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 E. Orange St., Shippensburg 17257.

Mass of Christian burial for Anne Terese Potter Scarangella, 42, of New Cumberland, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
She died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 in her parents' home in Fairview Township, York County.
Born July 5, 1955 in Ithaca, N.Y., she was a daughter of Lawrence E. and Catherine Titus Potter of New Cumberland.
A registered nurse with Polyclinic Hospital of Pinnacle Health System, she attended Villa Maria College in Erie and York College. She graduated from St. Benedict Academy in Erie and Harrisburg Area Community College.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, surviving are her daughter, Tricia A. Potter, at home; one brother, Robert J. Potter of Erie; and two sisters, Mary A. Swenie of Fayetteville, N.C., and Elizabeth A. Capron of New Cumberland.
The Rev. Lawrence R. Coakley will officiate at Tuesday's service. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
