Obituaries by LocationServices for Evelyn J. Stine, 87, of Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Middlesex Township, formerly of Plainfield, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle.
She died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 in the center.
Born July 18, 1910 in Middlesex Township, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Emma F. Hoover Stine.
A 1929 graduate of Carlisle High School and a 1931 graduate of Shippensburg University, Miss Stine was a retired elementary school teacher. She taught 13 years in rural schools and the remainder in Mt. Holly Springs and Bellaire Elementary schools.
She was a member, organist and Sunday School teacher for many years of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Plainfield. She also was a member of AARP, Plainfield Golden Age Club, Retired Teachers Association, Carlisle Womens' Democratic Club and Farm Women Group No. 9.
Surviving are her sister, Freda Stine Rynard of Plainfield; one niece, Donna Burkholder; two great-nieces; one great-great-nephew; and one great-great-niece.
The Revs. Richard L. Hadfield and Deacon Paul Williams will officiate at Thursday's service. Burial will be in Upper Frankford Brick Church Cemetery, Upper Frankford Township.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Services for Wilson E. Farner, 85, a resident of Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle.
He died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997 at the community.
Born on July 18, 1912 in Newville, he was the son of the late William and Mary Ankabrandt Farner and the widower of Lela M. Rotz Farner.
He was a retired employee of Carlisle Tire and Wheel with more than 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in England, France and Germany.
He was a member of Brethren in Christ Church, Carlisle and the volunteer Sunday school class. He was also a member of Cumberland-Goodwill Fire Company and Gobin Guards, both in Carlisle.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane F. Burke and Shirley E. Martin, both of Carlisle; two sisters Helen Kuhn of Carlisle and Gladys Harper of Lewistown; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Luther, and Martin, and a sister, Blanche Bishop.
The Rev. Kenneth O. Hoke will officiate at Wednesday's services. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Funeral services for Yvonne Colbert Fischer, 68, of 320 Mountainview Road, Shermans Dale, and formerly of Hummelstown, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home, 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown.
She died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 in Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in London, England on Sept. 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Nina Snellgrove Colbert.
She was retired from the Hummelstown News Agency, where she was a clerk, and J.P. Lilley and Son Inc., Harrisburg, where she was a film inspector. She was a member of the Church of England.
She is survived by her husband, Duane R. Fischer; two sisters, Nina Marie Foutz of Harrisburg and Brenda O. Ritter of Enola; and several nieces and nephews.

He died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997 at the center.
Born June 24, 1898 in South Newton Township, he was a son of the late Joseph M. and Mattie Bixler Hemminger.
Retired from Paul W. Snyder Trucking, Carlisle, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom.
He is survived by his second wife, Mary R. Printz Frey Hemminger; two sons, Floyd N. Hemminger of Newville and Teddy L. LaMont of Rigglewood, N.C.; a daughter Martha Louise Sheaffer of Shippensburg; three stepsons, A. Richard Frey and Ronald E. Frey, both of Shippensburg, and Thomas L. Frey of Carlisle; a stepdaughter, Bonnie L. Bowers of St. Petersburg, Fla.; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie A. Lautsbaugh Hemminger, who died Dec. 25, 1978; a son, Joseph Hemminger; and a daughter, June Hemminger.
The Rev. Deborah Heisley-Cato will officiate at Thursday's services.

She died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born on Aug. 28, 1932 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of Evelyn Speck Arnsberger of Dillsburg and the late John W. Arnsberger, and the widow of the late Elwood J. Schaeffer.
She was retired as a registered nurse for Holy Spirit Hospital's Dillsburg Clinic.
She was a 1950 graduate of Dillsburg High School and a 1953 graduate of the Hospital for the Women of Maryland in Baltimore.
She was a member of Christian Life Assembly Church and the Golden Agers Club of Dillsburg.
Besides her mother, she is survived by a son, James A. of Dillsburg; a daughter, Linda D. Lee of Charlottesville, Va.; a sister, Carol A. Bessel of Wilmington, Del.; and four grandchildren.
The Rev. Ronald Smith will officiate at Thursday's services. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery. Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his parents Gary R. and Norma Jean Lentz Stitzel of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Terry Lynn Blackburn of Carlisle; a paternal grandmother, Janet Stitzel of Manchester; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.

Retired from Mack Trucks Inc. of Middletown, he also was a former employee of Pennsy Supply Inc. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Weaver attended the former Duncannon High School and was a member of Duncannon American Legion, Central Pennsylvania Metal Detecting Club and the Pen Mar Historic Recovery Association.
Surviving are his wife, Doris M. Simmons Weaver of New Bloomfield; a son, Stephen L. Weaver of York; a daughter, Kathy L. Snyder of Carlisle; two sisters, Arlene M. Maneval of New Bloomfield and Gloria J. Chohany of Lewistown.

Born Aug. 9, 1926 in Newburg, a son of Howard O. and Ethel W. Bowman Brandt, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Brandt Dry Wall, Mechanicsburg.
Mr. Brandt attended Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and Newville High School. He was a charter member of Failor-Wagner American Legion Post 421, Newville, Mechanicsburg Post 6704 VFW, West Shore Elks, and was a lifetime member of Big Spring Fish and Game and Safari Club International, Blue Mountain Chapter.
He is survived by his wife, Tilden "Tillie" Quick Brandt; two daughters, Susan B. Kalodner of Wallingford and Tona T. Shaver of Mechanicsburg; two sons, Jay H. Brandt Jr. of Carlisle and Jack E. Tennant of Bennettsville, S.C.; three brothers, Lee E. Brandt and Richard S. Brandt Sr., both of Newville and William H. Brandt of Newburg; a sister, Janet Abram of Newville; and seven grandchildren.
The Rev. Iva L. O'Brien will officiate at Saturday's services. Interment will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
