Born Nov. 5, 1918 in East Liberty, he was a son of the late Harry and Pearl Miller McCartney.
Mr. McCartney was a World War II Army veteran who was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war for six months.
He was a former construction worker for H.J. Williams of York.
Surviving are four daughters, Gloria Slogik of Altoona, Betty Morrow of Gardners, Sandra Scott of North Carolina and Susan Smith of Centerville; four sons, Douglas of Lee's Crossroads, David E. Jr. of Biglerville, Steven of Florida and Michael, stationed in Korea; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Douglas M. Eberly will officiate at Monday's service. Burial will be in Bendersville Cemetery.

Jane Wimett Brenner of 1051 Trindle Road, Carlisle, died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997 in Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Oneida, N.Y., she was a graduate of Cornell University.
Mrs. Brenner was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph D. Brenner; one son, Joseph D. Jr.; three daughters, Margaret Bushey, Nancy Blakely and Katherine Menges; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, with the Rev. John L. Larson officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

She died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997 in Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born Feb. 5, 1906 in Middlesex Township, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Thomas W. and Louisa D. Brandreth Preston. She was the widow of Arthur C. Wise, who died Oct. 17, 1997.
A 1925 graduate of Carlisle High School and a 1928 graduate of the former Shippensburg Normal School, Mrs. Wise was a retired teacher who taught in Middlesex Township and Lemoyne.
She was a member of Middlesex United Methodist Church and its ladies' aid group and was a former Sunday School teacher. She also was a member of Bonnybrook Riding Club and the National AARP.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, George B., Ernest W. and W. Willard Preston, and one sister, Gertrude Sunday.
The Revs. Gene W. McCallips and J. Roy Bower will officiate at Monday's service. Burial will be in Kutz's Church Cemetery, Middlesex Township.

He died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born June 14, 1908 in Annville, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose Perla Capriotti and the widower of Miriam M. Eisenlohr.
Mr. Capriotti was a retired Machine Operator for General Dynamics, Corp., San Diego.
He was a member of the former East San Diego Presbyterian Church; East San Diego Lodge No. 561, F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Temple; and Estrella Chapter No. 412, O.E.S., San Diego.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruth C. Freedman of Lower Allen Township; a son, Earl F. (Bud), of Harrisburg; two sisters, Caroline Schiaroni and Angelina Favone, both of Hershey; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Fr. Luis R. Rodriguez will officiate Wednesday's services. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, at the convenience of the family.

Born Dec. 24, 1903 in New Bloomfield, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Florence Kitner Reich and the widow of Bruce W. Diener.
Mrs. Diener, a member of First Church of God, Mechanicsburg, also attended the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are three sons, Leroy C. Brunner, Edward C. Brunner and Lee J. Brunner, all of Carlisle; four daughters, Nancy J. Miller with whom she resided, Edith E.M. Booser of Hershey, Pauline V. Conrad of Shermans Dale and Ferne I. Murlatt of Camp Hill; a brother, Ed Reich of New Bloomfield; 29 grandchildren; 54 great-granchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James T. Brunner.
The Rev. Robert J. Ohliger will officiate Tuesday's services. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.

Herman William Potter, 77, of 343A Tourist Park Road, Halifax, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997 at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg.
He was born June 16, 1920 in Liverpool, Perry County. He was the son of the late Banks and Minnie Landis Potter.
He was a retired employee of Conrail, an Army veteran of World War II with three bronze stars and a member of American Legion Post 340 and V.F.W. Post 255, Duncannon.
He was a member of Delville United Methodist Church, Duncannon.
He was the widower of Geraldine Reichert Potter and was preceded in death by a son, Frank W. Potter, Sr.
Surviving are one son, Danny H. Potter of Halifax; one daughter, Bonnie L. Scrivens of Florida; three brothers, Marlin Potter of McAlisterville, Leroy Potter of Harrisburg and Herbert Potter of Camp Hill; five sisters, Dell Horting and Miriam Straub of Harrisburg, Geraldine Potter of Pennsylvania, Beatrice Feidt of Elizabethville and Gladys Dickey of Berrysburg; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon with the Rev. Robert Stump officiating.
Burial with be with military honors in Dellville Cemetery, Duncannon.

Born June 3, 1913 in South Dickinson Township, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Esther Myers Fanus. She was the widow of Clifford E. Beam, who died in 1952.
Mrs. Beam was a retired employee of McCoy Electronics, Mt. Holly Springs, with 25 years of service. She was a member of Goodyear Lutheran Church, Gardners.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Ann Kuntz of Gardners, Lois M. Sowers of San Jose, Calif., and Nancy L. Fernbaugh of Mechanicsburg; two sons, Laverne E. of Gardners and Clifford E. Jr. of Dillsburg; two sisters, Cora Waugman of Carlisle and Gloria Gitt of Boiling Springs; two brothers, J. Parker Fanus of Gardners and Sheldon Fanus of Leesburg, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leo. R. Beam.
