He died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997 in his home.
Born Nov. 7, 1919 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Jacob Shank and Mable Stansfield.
Mr. Shank was a retired missile mechanic from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who was highly decorated.
An avid outdoorsman, he was a former member of VFW Post 6704, and American Legion Post 109, both of Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are five daughters, Barbara D. Stratmeyer of Manchester, Deborah L. Shank of Harrisburg, Sandra D. Williams of Enola, Pamela L. Bennett of Frederick, Md., and Trudy Jones of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Kimber of Dillsburg; five sisters, Joyce of Shippensburg, Edria of Camp Hill, Marilyn and Brenda, both of Mechanicsburg, and Sharon of Carlisle; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert Kauffman will officiate at Saturday's service. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service for Albert J. Tomassone, 71, of Pine Hill, N.J., will be held at the convenience of the family.
He died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997 in Pine Hill.
Born July 29, 1926 in Philadelphia, Mr. Tomassone was a police dispatcher for the city of Philadelphia.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Pisano Tomassone of Philadelphia; two sons, Daniel and Michael, both of Carlisle; a brother, George of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren.
Harleigh Crematory, Camden, N.J., is in charge of arrangements.
Funeral services for June E. Bowman, 75, of Upper Allen Township, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg.
She died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997 at Cumberland Crossings Retirement Center.
Born Aug. 3, 1922 in Harrisburg, she was retired as a bookkeeper for the former Harrisburg Trust, CCNB and First Bank and Trust, Mechanicsburg, and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are her mother, Barbara Aungst of Carlisle; two daughters, Linda B. Penny of Camp Hill and Barbara J. Roberts of Shavertown; and four grandsons.
The Rev. Gale M. Gregor will officiate at Monday's services. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Township.

Esther R. Miller, 84, formerly of Tower Circle, Carlisle, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1913 in Carlisle was the daughter of the late Parkison and Margaret Ziegler Horn.
A Protestant, she retired in 1975 from the Cumberland County Court House after 10 years of service.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Raymond H. Miller of Carlisle; a son, Lee R. of York Haven; a daughter, Erma J. Tomcheck of Oxnard, Calif.; a brother, Ray L. Horn of Carlisle; a sister, Helen Fry of Carlisle; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Chaplain Anna Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in North Middleton Church of God Cemetery, North Middleton Township. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Thomas Eli McKelvey, 59, of 13 Sulphur Springs Road, Wheatfield Township, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997 at home.
Born July 27, 1938 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late William and Emma Sheaffer McKelvey. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 520.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Maneval McKelvey; a son, Thomas E. II of Etters; four daughters, Sherry Stephanson, Barbara McKelvey and Donna Heck, all of Duncannon, and Martha Bond of Summerdale; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Boyer Funeral Home, 230 N. High Street, Duncannon with the Rev. Anthony C. Hill officiating.
Interment will be in Duncannon Presbyterian Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Funeral services for Chad Andrew Nace, 17, of 1 Zion Road, Newburg, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg.
He died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997 in Southampton Township, Franklin County.
Born Sept. 1, 1980, he was a son of Richard H. Nance of Newburg and Bonita L. Bock Nace of Newburg.
He was a junior at Shippensburg Area Senior High School and was in the masonry program with the Franklin County Vo-Tech Career and Technology Center, Chambersburg.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Brian L. of Chambersburg; paternal grandmother, Mary Nace Harder of Carlisle; paternal foster grandparents, Charles and Edith Holtry of Newburg; maternal grandmother, Frances Bock of Newburg; and a niece.
The Rev. David C. Wilson will officiate at Saturday's services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Glenda F. Finkenbinder, 79, of Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Middlesex Township, formerly of 2521 Ritner Highway, Carlisle, died Friday, Nov. 7, 1997 in the center.
Born Nov. 15, 1917 in Adams County, she was a daughter of the late Percy H. and Elizabeth Firestone Gardner. She was the widow of Millard J. Finkenbinder Sr.
Mrs. Finkenbinder was a former employee of Chapel Pointe, Carlisle.
She was a member of Mt. Rock United Methodist Church and its adult Sunday School class, West Pennsboro Township Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and Golden Age Club of Carlisle.
Surviving are two sons, Millard J. Jr. of Carlisle and Dewaine E. of Shippensburg; one sister, Irene Riley of Biglerville; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert L. and John H. Finkenbinder, and a granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Howard A. Kerstetter officiating.
Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, North Middleton Township.

William Richard Collins, 62, of Etters died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997 in Hospice House, Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County.
Born Nov. 5, 1935 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late William and Dorothy Noble Collins.
A retired police chief for Fairview Township, Mr. Collins was a graduate of the FBI Academy, Quantico, Va., and Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
He was a member of Pennsylvania and national chiefs of police associations and a volunteer for SCORE.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Collins; two daughters, Maureen P. Blose of Lewisberry and Linda J. Robenolt of Etters; one son, William J. of Oxnard, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland, with the Rev. Timothy L. Hoffman officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township, Lebanon County.
