Lester R. Rockey, 85, formerly of 318 Geary Ave., New Cumberland, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997 in Thornwald Nursing Home, Carlisle.
Born Aug. 10, 1912 in Warrington Township, York County, he was a son of the late Wayne L. and Addie Fager Rockey. He was the widower of Gladys S. Rockey.
A graduate of New Cumberland High School and Texas A&I, Mr. Rockey was a retired health and physical education teacher for West Shore School District. He also had taught in Newport and Saxton.
He was in charge of New Cumberland playgrounds and prepared the fields for baseball games for New Cumberland Town Team.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, its Men's Bible Class and Cumberland County Democrats.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne M. of Dover, N.H., and Donald L. of Carlisle; one daughter, Louann M. of New Cumberland; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Trinity United Methodist Church, Fourth and Bridge streets, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Carl F. Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Emmanual Cemetery, Lewisberry.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Stone and Murray Funeral Home, 408 Third St., New Cumberland.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Violet Fasnacht, 95, formerly of 111 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997 in Thornwald Nursing Home, Carlisle.
Born May 5, 1902, she was a daughter of the late Clinton and Ephiah Felker. She was the widow of Andrew J. Fasnacht.
She was the oldest member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Rishel of Wellsville and Betty Sunday of Mechanicsburg.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 626 Williams Grove Road, Mechanicsburg.
Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Hershey. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Altzheimers Disease and Related Disorders, South Central Pennsylvania Chapter, 600 N. 12th St., Lemoyne, Pa. 17043.

Memorial services for the Rev. Herbert W. Jones, 78, of Cambridge, Md., will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Upton.
He died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997 in Glasgow Nursing Home, Cambridge, Md.
Born Aug. 17, 1919 in Atlanta, Ga., he was a son of the late Ludford Cahoon and Gertrude Neal Jones.
The Rev. Jones was raised in Baltimore and attended public schools there. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946.
He earned a B.S. degree from West Texas State University in 1949 and his divinity degrees from Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg. From 1956 until retirement in 1985, he was affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and served churches in Maryland, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
The Rev. Jones was a member and former chaplain of Eureka Masonic Lodge in Sharpsburg, Md., and a member of the Lions Club in Sharpsburg. He was also honored for his service to the Jaycees of Winchester, Ind.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Eunice Williams Jones; one daughter, Carroll E. Margulies of Arnold, Md.; one son, Stephen W. of Chambersburg; one sister, Shirley Callahan of Woodlawn, Md.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Alan R. Wilson will officiate Thursday. Thomas Funeral Home, Cambridge, Md., is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Upton, Pa.

Alice Eugenia Sierotowicz, 79, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of New Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997 at Marion Regional Medical Center in Ocala.
Born June 20, 1918 in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Ann (Martin) Sheehan.
A World War II Army veteran, Mrs. Sierotowicz was a retired registered nurse.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church in Ocala and a former member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Sierotowicz; two sons, Joseph Jr. of York and Stanley of Mechanicsburg; three daughters, Mary Ann Starr of Houston, Tex., Carolyn N. Nilsen of Clementon, N.J., and Frances Sierotowicz of Blackwood, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Resurrection Cemetery in West Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

C. Herbert Capp, 92, of Mechanicsburg, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born March 26, 1905 in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Aaron E. and Clara E. Baker Capp and the widower of Verna S. Schaeffer Capp and Emma Mae Capp/.Mr. Capp was retired from Bethlehem Steel, Steelton and was a member of Trindle Springs Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances Pierce of Wooster, Ohio; two stepsons, Leslie Anderson of Rockport, Texas and Lorenzo Anderson of Mechanicsburg; three sisters, Frances Corman and Florence Durston, both of Mechanicsburg and Elderline Dewalt of New Cumberland; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren.
The Rev. Steven D. Dorsett will officiate the services. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery, Enola.
Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church's building fund, 15 State Road, Mechanicsburg, 17055.

Arthur Donald Evans, 79, of 241 W. Ridge St., Carlisle, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997 in his home.
Born July 26, 1918 in Columbia, Pa., he was the son of the late Arthur C. and Ruth Ayle Evans.
Mr. Evans, a graduate of William Penn High School, Harrisburg, was a retired employee of the Harrisburg Post Office and Dauphin Deposit Bank, Harrisburg.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Carlisle; Hospital Auxiliary; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Seventh Armored Division Association; Harrisburg Postal Chorus; and was a Carlisle Hospital volunteer with over 12,000 hours of service.
He was a Unted States Army veteran of World War II with the Seventh Armored Division, 147 Signal Co., and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Miriam Shulenberger Evans; a daughter, Karen A. McKibben, Newville; a son, David H. Evans, Lakewood, Ohio; a brother, H. Gilbert Evans, Mechanicsburg; four granddaughters, a neephew and nieces.
The Rev. Lynn R. Schultz and the Rev. Wanda L. Velman will officiate the services. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, is handling the arrangements.

Elsie S. Franciscus, 76, of Forest Park Health Center, 700 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, and formerly of Hamilton, Ohio, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born April 21, 1921 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Fred F. and Naomi F. Gordon Shughart and the widow of Ross B. Franciscus, Sr. who died Jan. 7, 1989.
Mrs. Franciscus was a Protestant.
Surviving are a son, Ross B. Franciscus Jr. of Placentia, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Rose of Keavy, Ky.; a brother, Raymond Shughart of Carlisle; a sister Emma Baer of Carlisle; two half brothers, Richard Shughart and Dale Shughart, both of Carlisle; two half sisters, Annie Rummel of Carlisle and Dorothy Beamer of Gardners; two grandsons;a great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Paul Shughart and Frederick F. Shughart Jr.; and a sister, Edna Wagner.
The Rev. Paul E. Gordon will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Township.

Shane D. Goudy, 23, of Duncannon, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997 in his home.
Born July 11, 1974 in Harrisburg, he was the son of David and Bonnie Goudy of Duncannon.
Mr. Goudy, a 1994 graduate of Newport High School, was an employee of England Jeep Eagle, Mechanicsburg.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Saydey Louann Goudy at home; a sister, Shawn Roberto of Carlisle; a maternal grandmother, Evelyn Baker of Duncannon; a paternal grandmother, Ida Mae Goudy of Lykens; and several aunts and uncles.
With the Rev. John Phillippi officiating, burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
