Born Dec. 13, 1931 in Watts Township, Perry County, he was the son of the late Samuel F. and Margaret M. Maretz Kumler.
A retired farmer who attended Watts Township Wesleyan Methodist Church, he was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1425, Swansboro, N.C.; Disabled American Veterans; and he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Lenona Chubb Kumler; two daughters, Renee Fry and Marsha Hooker, both of RD 4, Duncannon; three sons, Corey W., Daniel C. and Curtis C. Kumler, all of RD 4, Duncannon; four sisters, Grace Thompson of Liverpool, Ruth Lowe of RD 4, Duncannon, Clee Peters of RD 1, Newport and Fern Kumler of Fort Lee, N.J.; and 10 grandchildren.
The Rev. Fred Brungart will officiate at Saturday's services. Burial with military honors will be in Hill Cemetery, RD 4, Duncannon.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the church.

Funeral services for Erwin B. Mears, 71, of 418 Clifton Road, Shippensburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Shippensburg.
He died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997 in the Swaim Health Center, Newville.
Born Nov. 1, 1926 in Broad Top City, a son of the late Harry C. and Sylvia Bradley Mears, he retired in 1980 from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.
Mr. Mears was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Shippensburg, Cumberland Valley Lodge 315 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Shippensburg Scottish Rite Club, Hub City Club, Minnequa Social Club, and James W. McCartney American Legion Post 232.
He was a life member and past commander of Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223 and was a life member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168. He was also a former Boy Scout leader.
He is survived by his wife, Stella L. Brindle Mears; a son, Robert E. of Amberson; three daughters, Sharon E. Gilbert and Vickie L. Bonitz of Shippensburg and Ruby A. Abram of Coral Springs, Fla; two sisters, Robie M. Mears of Newville and Theone V. Mowry of Mannschoice; seven grandchildren; two step-grandsons; one great-grandson; and one step-great-grandson.
The Rev. Canon William F. Murphey will officiate at Friday's services. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.

Born Aug. 11, 1944 in Boiling Springs, he was a son of Viola Belle Lebo Rupp of Mt. Holly Springs and the late Vernerd Kutz Rupp.
A supervisor at H. J. Heinz Co., Mechanicsburg, he was a member of Mt. Holly Fish and Game and a former president and coach of Mt. Holly Springs Youth Baseball Association. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Adam Wholesalers Golf League, Carlisle.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 26 years, Ruby J. Hartman Rupp; a son, Jeffrey L. of Mt. Holly Springs; two daughters, Debra Lee Failor of Carlisle and Sherry Lee Barnhart of Mt. Holly Springs; a sister, Sundee Lee Rentzel of York; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney L. Rupp Sr.
The Rev. Bradley C. Knepp and the Rev. J. Kenneth Barner will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Kutz's Cemetery, Middlesex Township.

Robert E. Sokoloski, 61, of New Cumberland, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997 at Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.
Born July 2, 1936 in Scranton, a son of the late John and Stella Lisowski Sokoloski, he was a retired food service contractor for East Stroudsburg University.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in York Springs.
Mr. Sokoloski is survived by his wife, Peggy S. of New Cumberland; four sons, R. Gary of Virginia, Glenn of New York, Donald of Mechanicsburg and Carl of Carlisle; a stepson, Brandon at home; two daughters, Karen Gensler and Lynn Fickes of Newville; two sisters, Florence Gardoski of Kingsley and Betty Szablewski of Carlisle; a brother, Ted of Newville; and 12 grandchildren.
There will be no services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation arrangements are by Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.

Maxeline Z. Yocum, 78, of 609 B St., Enola died Monday, Nov. 17, 1997 at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born Sept. 18, 1919 in Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late O.E. and Mary Kauffman Zeiders and the widow of Charles E. Yocum Sr.
Retired from a credit union, she was a member of Enola Emmanuel United Methodist Church and Mifflintown Order of Odd Fellows.
She is survived by a son, Charles E. Jr. of Upper Marlboro, Md.; four sisters, Mildred Z. Robinson and Vivian Bardell of Mifflintown, Earlene Robinson of Newport and Janet Baker of Burnham; two brothers, David E. Zeiders of Georgia and Robert G. Zeiders of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and two grandsons.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon with the Rev. Bruce Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden, Lower Paxton Township.

Wesley R. Bowling
Funeral services for Wesley R. Bowling, 20, of 22 Bard Drive, Shippensburg, and formerly of Chambersburg, were held Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
He died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at his home.
Born March 24, 1977, in Chambersburg, he was a son of Teresa J. Cramer Fry of Chambersburg and Gregory L. Bowling of Orrtanna.
He was a 1995 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was a junior at Shippensburg University, where he was named to the Shippensburg University Honor Society during his freshman year.
He was photography editor of The Slate, Shippensburg University's weekly newspaper. He also worked for the Wal-Mart Photo Lab in Chambersburg and was the head photographer locally for Legacy Photography of Pittsburgh.
He attended Fort Loudon United Methodist Church in Fort Loudon.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Nicholas E. Bowling of Chambersburg; his stepmother, Debra K. Rebert Bowling of Orrtanna; his paternal grandparents, William E. and Helen S. Bowling of Fort Loudon; and his maternal grandparents, Earl and Jean Cramer of Chambersburg.
The Rev. Kenneth Reid and the Rev. Kenneth E. Miller officiated at Wednesday's services. Burial was in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

Jack V. Goshorn, 64, of 1806 New Valley Road, Marysville, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997 at home.
Born Jan. 18, 1933 at Blairs Mills RR 1 to the late Edgar W. and Pearl E. Gifford Goshorn, he was a retired self-employed logger. He attended Richvale Methodist Church, Blairs Mills.
Mr. Goshorn was a social member of Marysville VFW Post 882 and Fraternal Order of Eagles 1299 of Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife, Betty E. Woodard Goshorn; five sons, Terry A. of Loysville, Steve E. of Ickesburg, Dennis I. of Duncannon, Roger I. of Richmond, Ohio and Jeffrey V. of Newport; a daughter, Sharon L. Brooks of Marysville; two brothers, Wayne of Linglestown and Budd of Duncannon; two sisters, Wilma Pyles of Blains Mills and Lena Goshorn of Mechanicsburg; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville with the Rev. Randall L. Goshorn officiating. Burial will be in Shade Valley Cemetery, Blairs Mills.
Viewing will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997 in the Shook Home, Chambersburg.
Born Jan. 7, 1903 in Saginaw, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Amelia Beamer Witte and the widow of George E. Herrman, who died in 1938.
Mrs. Herrman was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg, and its Sunshine Sunday School class.
Surviving are her daughter, Jane Trinklein of Shippensburg; a stepson, George of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
The Rev. Bonnie B. Hoffman will officiate at Saturday's service. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
