He died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 in the Chambersburg Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born March 24, 1937 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John and Mary Caldwell.
A member of the First Church of God, Chambersburg, he had been employed at Grove Manufacturing Corp. for the past 28 years.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores Staley Caldwell; a son, John H. Staley of Fayetteville; a sister, Bonnie Koontz of Shippensburg; three brothers, James of Fort Loudon, William of Shippensburg and Larry; two grandsons; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and a sister.
The Rev. Buck Besecker will officiate at Wednesday's services. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.

Benjamin A. Bollinger, 80, of 23 Hillside Drive, Carlisle, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997 in his home.
Born Dec. 23, 1916 in Culbertson, Franklin County, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth Claudy Bollinger.
Mr. Bollinger was retired from Shippensburg Area School District with over 27 years of service. He was also athletic director and chairman of the math department. Prior to that he taught in Greene Township School District, the Pittsburgh area and the Scotland School for Veterans Children.
He was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg and their choir; the Mendolssohn Choir, Pittsburgh; Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post No. 223; charter member of the Hub City Club; and past member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post No. 6168, all of Shippensburg; National Education Association; Pennsylvania State Education Association; and the Retired Pennsylvania State Education Association.
He received his master's of education degree from Southeastern State College, Durant, Okla. and his bachelor's degree from the former Shippensburg State Teachers College. He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He completed his officers candidate school at Yale University, New Haven, Conn. and was a second lieutenant with the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Joan E. Reeder Bollinger; a son, G. Kip Bollinger of Carlisle; a daughter, Katy M. Meyers of Kalispell, Mont.; a step-son, Russel Stine of Carlisle; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a half sister.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., 112 W. King St., Shippensburg with the Rev. John L. Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday in the funeral home.

Joseph A. Helsman, 85, of Mechanicsburg, died at Holy Spirit Hospital Saturday.
Born Sept. 5, 1912 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Albert J. and Valerie Ferber Helsman.
Mr. Helsman worked as an accountant in Panama for Citco Oil Co.; Internal Revenue Service, Washington, D.C.; and retired from the former Middletown Air Force Base. He graduated from Coughlin High School in 1930; and Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania with distinguished honors in 1934.
He attended Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church and was a member of First Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre.
He is survived by two nieces, Susan I. Helsman of Watsontown and Sara C. Helsman of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald A. Helsman, formerly of Allenwood.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.

Services for Dorothy M. Markley, 78, of 21 Blue Pond Road, Newville, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., 112 W. King St., Shippensburg.
She died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born in Jan. 24, 1919 in Newville, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Jenny Yeingst Keck and the widow of Richard Markley.
She was retired from Carlisle Container.
Surviving are a son, Robert L. Huntsberger of Newville; a daughter, Lisa J. Markley of Newville; two brothers, Donald and Luther Keck, both of Newville; a sister, Jeanette Finkenbinder of Newville; and three grandsons.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
The Rev. Russell D. Higginbotham will officiate Tuesday's services. Burial will be in Huntsdale Cemetery, Penn Township.
There will be no viewing but friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday in the funeral home.
Graveside services with full military honors for Paul D. Martin, 75 of Sun City Center and formerly of Gulfport, Fla. will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.
He died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997 in Pay Pointe Nursing Pavilion.
Born in Shamokin, Pa., Mr. Martin was formerly of Carlisle.
He was a retired Army staff sergeant with 20 years of service and a percussionist with the 5th Army and played with the military band at West Point.
A professional musician, he played with the Derby Lane Band, St. Petersburg; and the Pasadena Community Band.
He was a member of Selama Grotto and Nitram Masonic Lodge No. 188, both in St. Petersburg; and DAV Center Chapter 91, Pinellas Park.
He was Presbyterian.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Anna Martin; a daughter, Jane Smith of Waldorf, Md.; a son David of Gulfport; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in Gulfport Memorial Funeral Home, 5601 Gulfport Boulevard, Gulfport.
Isabel "Izzy" B. Snyder, 84, of 1110 Newville Road, Carlisle, died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Sept. 17, 1913 in West Pennsboro Township, she was the daughter of the late Dale S. and Annie C. Boyd Brehm.
Mrs. Snyder retired in 1977 as the assistance manager for Midway Bowling Center, Carlisle.
She was a member of Plainfield Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, Lester D. Snyder; one son, Barry L. of Carlisle; one brother, Lee Brehm of Carlisle; one grandson; and one step-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, William and Paul Brehm.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Richard L. Hadfield officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.

He died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 in Westminster Heath Care Facility, Clarksville, Ind.
Born Feb. 21, 1917 in Silver Spring Township, he was the son of the late Blaine C. and Mary H. Woods.
Mr. Woods was employed in research and development with 45 years experience for the former Atlas Powder Company now Imperial Chemical Industries, Wilmington, Del. During World War II he was a member of their explosives plant start-up team which was to start up new government plants. One of these plants was the largest TNT plant in the United States, producing more than one million pounds of TNT daily.
He was a 1932 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and received his master's degree in chemical engineering from Penn State College and attended Washington, D.C. University.
He was a member of Speed Memorial Church, Speed, Ind.; Phi Lambda Epsilon (chemistry); Sigma Tau (engineering); Pi Ma Epsilon (mathematics); Penn State Club; American Institute of Chemical Engineers; and the American Chemical Society.
Surviving are his wife, Emily E. Bower Woods; a daughter, Jeannette Byington of Burlington, Vt.; two sons, Charles G. of Lincoln University, Pa. and Dr. Kim B. of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; a sister, Betty Detweiler of Mechanicsburg; and nine grandchildren.
The Rev. Steven D. Dorsett will officiate Tuesday's services. Burial will be in Trindle Spring Cemetery, Silver Spring Township.

William J. Wewer, 68, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday at Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
He was born Aug. 23, 1929 in Ashland.
Mr. Wewer was past executive director of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission then executive director of Parents Anonymous of PA. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Upper Allen Township; Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Queenship Council; West Shore BPO Elks; American Legion Post 109, Mechanicsburg. He served with the Army Counter-Intelligence Corps during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Mary "Betty" Miller Wewer; five sons, Dr. William, Harrisburg, Christopher, Pine Grove, Timothy, Lawrenceville, N.J., and Eric and James, both of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Wendy Donahue of Lawrenceville, N.J.; four sisters, Dorothy Narcowich, Marie Kitsock, Janet Madden and JoAnn Maloney, all of Ashland; 19 grandchildren; and a great grandson.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at his church, 310 Hertzler Road, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Richard P. Waldron V.F. officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, West Hanover Township.
Visitors may call at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
