Funeral services for Melvin E. "Bucky" Arnold Sr., 74, of Enola, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
He died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 at his home.
Retired from W. S. Miller Construction, he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Enola, Hampden Fire Company and Fire Police, Mechanicsburg and Enola sportsmen's clubs, and the National Rifle Association.
He was the widower of Alice L. Arnold and Evelyn M. Arnold.
He is survived by a son, Melvin E. Jr. of Enola; two daughters, Patricia A. Singer of Enola and Susan A. Kulp of Lewisberry; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The Rev. Simon A. Lehman Jr. will officiate at Saturday's services. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery, Enola.
Funeral services for John H. Fahnestock Jr., 49, of 109 Yates St., Mt. Holly Springs, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs.
He died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 while hunting near Coudersport.
He was born Oct. 17, 1948 in Carlisle to John H. Fahnestock Sr. of Mt. Holly Springs and the late Kathryn Crawford Fahnestock.
Mr. Fahnestock was a technician for G.E. Appliance Service for 23 years, where he received the G.E. Hall of Fame Award for outstanding appliance technician for the last six years.
A graduate of Carlisle High School with the class of 1966, he was a member of Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church and coached Little League in Mt. Holly Springs for many years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, receiving the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service.
He was a member of the Fish and Game Association, National Rifle Association, and VFW Post 7343.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Susan Ruth Fahnestock; a daughter, Emily S. Fahnestock at home; a brother, Jerry A. Fahnestock of Mt. Holly Springs; two nephews; and one niece.
The Rev. Bradley Knepp and the Rev. J. Kenneth Barner will officiate at Saturday's services. Interment will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.

John R. "Jack" Beck, 65, 27 Clifton Terrace, Carlisle, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 at Penn State Geisinger Medical Center, Hershey.
Born Aug. 11, 1932 in Lock Haven, the son of the late John D. and Rosetta Yearick, he was a graduate of Lock Haven High School, University of Pittsburgh, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.
He was self-employed as a dentist in Carlisle for over 40 years until retiring in October 1997. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Dental Corps (Reserve) with two years on active duty.
He was past president of the Fifth District of the Pennsylvania Dental Association and of the Harrisburg Area Dental Society, which gave him the Dr. A.S. Koser Award. He was a fellow of the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and a member of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Beck was a member of South Middleton Township Strategic Planning Commission, past member of the South Middleton Planning Commission, and past member of the South Middleton School Board. He was past president of the Board of Trustees of the First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle and a past director of the Carlisle Kiwanis Club.
An avid sportsman, he was involved with Trout Unlimited as past director and past president of the Cumberland Valley Chapter and past president of the Pennsylvania Council. He was a co-founder of the Rivers Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp.
He also belonged to the Federation of Fly Fishers, Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock, Fly Fishers Club of Harrisburg, Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservationists, Carlisle Fish and Game Association, Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, The Catskill Fly Fishing Center, American Rivers, Cumberland Valley Sportsmen Conservationists Association, Wetlands Institute, Pennsylvania Conservancy and the National Audubon Society.
Dr. Beck was involved with the American Kennel Club as a field judge of pointing breeds. He was national past director of the American Brittany Club, past president and field trial secretary of the Susquehanna Brittany Club, and past director of the Central Pennsylvania Junior Horse Show Association. He also belonged to the National Geographic Society, The Smithsonian Associates and the Cumberland County Historical Society.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Edith Haver Beck; a daughter, Jennifer B. Vogel of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Barbara B. Tecker of Sunset Beach, N.C.; a grandson; and two nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle with the Rev. James J. Ferguson officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

Helen V. Bowers, 94, of 50 E. King St., Shippensburg, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997 in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Dec. 23, 1902 in Fayetteville, she was a daughter of the late Oscar W. and Alice M. McNew Mundorff. She was the widow of Rennes F. Bowers, who died May 11, 1989.
The couple started Bowers Jewelry Store in Shippensburg in 1925. Later, it became Bowers Jewelry and Gift Store. When she was widowed, Mrs. Bowers operated the store with her daughter, Dorothy.
Mrs. Bowers was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, First Court Chapter 471 Order of the Eastern Star and Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223 Auxiliary, all of Shippensburg.
Surviving are four sons, Rennes F. Jr. of Enon, Ohio, Richard R. of Franklin, Tenn., James W. of Shippensburg and Jack T. of Pleasant Hall; four daughters, Beverly M. Boofer of Bedford, Ind., Phyllis J. Valentine and Dorothy B. Wright, both of Shippensburg, and H. Catherine Doyle of Pleasant Hall; one sister, Pauline M. Patterson of Chambersburg; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two granddaughters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, with the Rev. Ernest N. Rumbaugh Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Greene Township, Franklin County.

Born June 16, 1948 in Ickesburg, she was a daughter of the late Banks and Ethel Jane Rowe Reisinger.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Hiler; three daughters, April L. and Krystal R., both at home, and Gayle A. Stoppard of Kansas City; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Hiler of Ohio; one son, Robert G. of State College; two stepsons, James Schroll of Palmyra and Harry Schroll of Steelton; four sisters, Dolly Dunn of Ft. Myers, Fla., Mary Garman and Betty Garman, both of Shermans Dale, and Martha Reisinger of Mechanicsburg; and 11 grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Brown.

She died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 in Forest Park Nursing Center, Carlisle.
Born March 27, 1932 in Huntingdon County, she was the adopted daughter of the late Emery and Frances James Graybill.
Surviving are her husband, William A. Gleim; three sons, Steven Sheaffer and Mark Sheaffer, both of Lewistown, and Allen Gleim of Lewisberry; one daughter, Teri Eagle of Lemoyne; one half-sister, Jaunita Nearhoof of Lewisberry; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The Rev. Elmer Gleim will officiate at Tuesday's service. There will be no visitation. Cocklin Funeral Home, Dillsburg, is handling arrangements.
Lucille M. Taylor, 88, of Chambersburg died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997 in Franklin County Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 10, 1909 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Josephine E. Smith Mitchell.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mrs. Taylor attended school in Greencastle.
She retired in 1970 after 28 years of service with the U.S. government as a supply analyst for the Veterans Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and Philadelphia Naval Supply.
Surviving are one sister, Mary L. Mitchell Thomas of Chambersburg; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Stella and Margaret, and two brothers, Ralph and Floyd.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Chaplain Lt. Col. William A. Robertson officiating.

Born Dec. 20, 1901 in Mahaffey, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David A. and Minnie Meckley White and the widow of Charles Bennett.
Mrs. Bennett is retired from the former Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Township, and was a member of the First Church of God, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are three daughters, Irene Arnold of Boiling Springs, Carolyn A. Wright of Carlisle and Betty Jane Jacobs of Hanover; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert W. Malick Jr. will officiate Monday's services.
