Born Sept. 18, 1931, he was the son of Pauline Windowmaker Curlen of Carlisle and the late Calvin W. Curlen Sr.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Shirley M. Fox Curlen of Cross Junction, Va.; two sons, Robert A. of Hanover and Steven P. of New Rochelle, N.Y. ; a daughter, Diane C. Slebodnick of Columbia Md.; two brothers, James of Carlisle and Calvin W. Jr. of Bowie, Md.; a sister, Marie Enck of Loysville; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Harry H. Witzkes Funeral Home, Ellicott City, Md., with the Rev. Eric P. Wogen officiating.

Joseph J. Galitsky, 62, of 327 8th St., New Cumberland, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997 while at his hunting cabin in Potter County.
Born Aug. 3, 1935 in Shenandoah, he is the son of Anna A. Grutsky Galitsky and the late Joseph J. Galitsky, Sr. He was a personnel staffing specialist at the Naval Inventory Control Point in Hampden Township.
He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland, Penn Harris Gun Club, National Rifle Association and East Fork Sportsman's Club.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Catherine M. Melcavage Galitsky; a son, Joel A. of New Cumberland; two daughters, Laurie A. Rock of Fairview Township and Barbara A. Myers of Cocoa Beach, Fla; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday in his church with the Rev. Lawrence R. Coakley officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in St. Casimir's New Cemetery, Shenandoah.

William A. Griffie, 64, of Dillsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997 at his home.
Born Oct. 12, 1933 in York Springs, a son of the late Brian J. and Mary Griest Griffie, he was retired as a land manager for the Pennsylvania Game Commission and from Hechinger's of Harrisburg.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 25th Infantry Division.
He is survived by his wife, Viola M. McGlaughlin Griffie; two sons, Thomas B. of Indiana, Pa. and Terry F. of Allentown; two daughters, Tammy M. Mann and Tina M. Dunkle of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Thelma Griffie of York Springs; four brothers, Bryan of Middletown, Harold of Biglerville, Edgar of Dillsburg and James of York Springs; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg, with the Rev. Michael Shear officiating.

Elwood H. Hoppich, 77, of 612 York Circle, Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997 in Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg.
Born June 12, 1920, he was the son of the late Harry and Louisa "Zullig" Hoppich and the widower of Helen Jean Hoppich. He was retired from UGI Utilities in Harrisburg after 45 years of service.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Harrisburg and Wormleysburg American Legion Post 945.
He is survived by two daughters, Patti A. Grodski and Karen L. Shur of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Helen Pendell of Harrisburg; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Michael L. Heckathron officiating.

He died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997 in Juniata County
Born Aug. 27, 1931 in Bloserville, he was the son of the late Earl and Anna Hoon Kotzmoyer. He was a retired employee of Carlisle Barracks and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of St. John's Lodge 260 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, and Newville American Legion, Post 421.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Hoover Kotzmoyer; two sons, Keith A. of Mechanicsburg and Mitchell E. of Elizabethtown; a brother, Roy of Carlisle; a sister, Violet Reed of Carlisle; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Jo Kotzmoyer.
The Rev. D. Alan Mathna will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, North Middleton Township.

Winifred C. Swartz of Carlisle died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997 in the Thornwald Home.
Born in Carlisle to the late William D. and Esther F. Bitzenberg Swartz, she was a 1928 graduate of Carlisle High School. She was retired from Carlisle Barracks and had also been employed at the Naval Inventory Control Point in Hampden Township.
Miss Swartz was a member of Allison United Methodist Church and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Surviving are her sister-in-law, Virginia Swartz of Carlisle; a niece, Vicki Wright of Middletown; and a nephew, Kent D. Swartz of Naples, Fla. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas G. Swartz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Robert A. Kaylor officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Township.

Katharine S. Fry, 86, formerly of 102 E. McClure St., New Bloomfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
Born May 7, 1911 in Shermans Dale, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ida Still Shatto and the widow of Frank L. Fry Sr.
Along with her late husband, they were known as "Mr. and Mrs. Perry County Red Cross." They taught first aid classes and served as directors of the Red Cross Disaster Aid Program for fire victims and needy people.
Among the many honors they received were induction into the Red Cross Hall of Fame, the Benjamin Rush Award presented by the Perry County Medical Society and the Lions Club International Plaque.
A member of Trinity United Church of Christ of New Bloomfield, Mrs. Fry also was a volunteer at Perry Village Nursing Home and New Bloomfield Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are five sons, Frank L. Jr. of Idaho, John B. of New Bloomfield, Dale E. of West Chester, David H. of Chadd's Ford and Larry W. of Newport; two brothers, Donald Shatto of Shermans Dale and Neil Shatto of Forksville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Trinity United Church of Christ, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Alan K. Foor officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield.

Born May 28, 1959 in Lakewood, Ohio to the Rev. Howard and Mary Hahn, she lived in Arizona for 34 years. She was employed as a retail clerk.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her former husband, Jeffrey Jumper; a son, Joshua; a sister, Rebekah Reinke and two brothers, Jeffrey and Mark Hahn.
