Born March 2, 1922 in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, he was a son of the late William and Lottie Stouffer and the widower of Lois L. Stouffer.
Retired from the former Sunderland Chevrolet of Lemoyne, Mr. Stouffer was formerly employed by Rufe Chevrolet of Carlisle, Keefer's Food Market and Bill's Town Market, both of Mechanicsburg.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg and American Legion Post 945 of Wormleysburg. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 10th Armored Tiger Division.
Surviving are two sons, G. Frank II of Shermans Dale and Ronald R. of Carlisle; a sister, Charlotte of Harrisburg; a brother, Paul of Harrisburg; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. David W. Schmuck, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Township.

A memorial service for Hazel Mae Shiffer Tressler, 85, of 301 Glenn Ave., Boiling Springs, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
She died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 in the Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
Born Nov. 27, 1912 in Dunlevy, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Annie Long Gelnett Shiffer and the widow of Robert Louis Tressler.
A registered nurse, she was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church of New Kingstown, where she served on the church council, was a life member and past president of the former Women's Missionary Society and past president of the church's ELCW.
She was a past matron of Chapter 544 of the Eastern Star of Mechanicsburg and served as the first den mother of Cub Pack 180 of New Kingstown.
Surviving are two sons, Robert L. Jr. of Herndon, Va. and Gary K. of York; two sisters, Sara K. Baer of Newport and Phyllis F. Mohler of New Bloomfield; a brother, William J. of Brooksville, Fla; and five grandchildren.

Private funeral services are scheduled for Dorothy D. Allport, 80, of Bethlehem, who died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997 at her home.
Born in Houtzdale, she was the daughter of the late George T. and Mae R. Archibald Dahlin and the widow of George T. Allport Sr., who died in 1977.
A graduate of Woodward High School in Houtzdale and the Altoona School of Commerce, she was a 50-year member of the Houtzdale Order of Eastern Star, now merged with the Philipsburg chapter.
She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lehigh Consistory in Allentown and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Whitehall.
She is survived by a son, Col. George H. II of Carlisle; a daughter, Dr. Susan A. Schneider of Northampton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Interment will be at Allport Cemetery in Allport. Funeral arrangements are by John F. Herron Funeral Home, 458 Center St., Bethlehem.

She died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997 in Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 1, 1908 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Menser Stover and the widow of Alfred Emerson Howell, who died in 1979.
Mrs. Howell was a graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College. A certified elementary teacher for more than 69 years, she taught in the Carlisle schools.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale, Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Honesdale Women's Club and the Alumni Association of Shippensburg University.
She was on the board of directors of the Honesdale Consolidated Water Co., a den mother for the Girl Scouts of America, a volunteer for Hershey track and field and the Honesdale High School Friends of Track and Field and Cross-Country, and was a contributor of artifacts to the Carlisle Museum.
Surviving are two sons, Alfred J. and Robert E., both of Honesdale; a daughter, Janemarie Wacker of Bethany; a brother, Richard Stover of Carlisle; two sisters, Violet Rocky of Carlisle and Burnetta Stover of Alabama; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter H.; an infant grandson, Robert A. Howell; and two brothers, Lee and Robert Stover.
The Rev. Gregory C. Myers will officiate at Saturday's services. Cremation will follow at the Maple Hill Crematory.

Born May 13, 1922 in Aspers to the late Charles E. and Irene M. Black Miller, he was a retired truck driver for Hempt Brothers Inc., Camp Hill.
A U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, he was a member of VFW Post 6704 and American Legion Post 109, both of Mechanicsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Snyder Miller; a son, Raymond E. of Carlisle; a brother, Clyde A. of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township.

She is survived by a son, Ray L. Kann of Shippensburg; three daughters, Grace M. Keiter and Josette N. Wingert of Shippensburg and Sue Ann Kann of Chambersburg; a brother, George E. Middlekauff of Shippensburg; a stepbrother, Guy Cooper Jr. of New Cumberland; a sister, Esther M. Heck of Shippensburg; one stepsister, Barbara Bick of Philadelphia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

He died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997 in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.
Born Jan. 23, 1919 in Hamilton Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Horace M. and Cora Coble Besecker.
The pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Greenvillage, Chambersburg, the Rev. Besecker was a 1936 graduate of Chambersburg High School, a 1941 graduate of Gettysburg College and a 1944 graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg.
His first ministerial assignments included Resurrection Lutheran Church, Franklin Park, Ill.; Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilmington, Del.; and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Gaithersburg, Md.
He was one of the first Lutheran pastors to receive a sabbatical, which he served at the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey, Switzerland, in 1965. He later served sabbaticals with a river parish in Guyana, South America, in 1970 and at India Vellore Medical College and Hospital in 1978.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Marian M. Mull Besecker; two daughters, Judith B. Rudolf of Waldorf, Md., and Marilyn J. Kuray of North Potomac, Md.; one son, Peter D. of Wilmington, Del.; two sisters, Frances Sites and Helen Showalter, both of Chambersburg; and one brother, Horace M. of Lexington, Mass.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul L. Besecker, who died Aug. 17, 1976.
The Rev. Thomas Swears will officiate at Monday's service. Burial will be in Coble Cemetery, St. Thomas.

Ella M. McClain, 88, of 154 Brookwood Drive, Carlisle, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Born Feb. 10, 1909 in South Middleton Township, she was a daughter of the late Levi and Mary Raudabaugh Shover. She was the widow of Ray Shughart and Marshall McClain.
Mrs. McClain was a former employee of Broiler Restaurant and Bellaire House Restaurant, both of Carlisle, and Heishman's Restaurant of New Kingstown.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of New Kingstown and its Martha and Mary Sunday School Class, Carlisle Fish and Game Auxiliary and Farm Women Group No. 11 of Carlisle.
Surviving are three stepsons, Earl McClain of New Greneda, Blair McClain, with whom she lived, and Gail McClain of McConellsburg; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, George and Ray Shughart.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Joseph L. Kugle officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Township. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
