Elizabeth Bowman
Elizabeth Bowman, 91, of New Cumberland died Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Woodland Center, Fairview Twp.
She was a retired seamstress from Amalgamated Textile, Ephrata. She was a member of Lewisberry Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
She was born December 31, 1911 in Ephrata to the late Harvey and Emma (Gelsinger) Becker.
The widow of Eugene Bowman, she is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Howard of Lancaster and Patricia Bowman of Fairview Twp.; two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 3pm, Saturday August 2, 2003 at Lewisberry Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness.
John "Ben" Brakefield, Sr.
John "Ben" Brakefield, Sr., 59, of Highland Park, Camp Hill, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Harrisburg Hospital.
He was retired from the Marine Corp and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Currently he was employed by the Pennsylvania State Department of Welfare. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church; the American Legion and VFW Posts of New Cumberland; the Steelton Moose Lodge; and the Mechanicsburg Club.
He was born September 5, 1943 in Syracuse to the late Ernest and Mabel (Rowley) Brakefield.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Cookie" Brakefield; son, J.D. Brakefield and his wife Nicole of Camp Hill; daughter, Marina A. Brakefield of Storrs, CT and her husband Wes Younts; two brothers, Richard of Palm Springs, CA and Michael of Wappwalopen; two sisters, Judy Norton of and Jean Hooter of California; and a granddaughter, Sophia Gelaine Brakefield of Camp Hill.
Memorial Services will be held at 5pm Saturday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland.
Interment with Military Honors will be held at 10:30am Monday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Visitation will be from 4-5pm Saturday at the funeral home

George Drake Bull, Sr.
George Drake Bull, Sr., 75, of Silver Spring Twp., Mechanicsburg died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in his residence.
He was a retired truck driver for the former Hall's Trucking Co., Inc. and an Army veteran of WWII.
He was born in Red Lion to the late Henry & Helen (Griffen) Bull.
He is survived by his wife Josephine L. (Leber) Bull; 4 sons, George D., Jr. of Carlisle, Ronald E. of Duncannon, Calvin L. of Denver, PA and John E. of New Cumberland; 2 daughters, Shirley M. Zimmerman of Camp Hill and Karen S. Hermany of Carlisle; a sister Jacqueline Bull of York; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 2 pm Friday 5/23/03 in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Thomas Cavanaugh
Thomas Cavanaugh, 75, of New Cumberland, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a retired carpenter for the former Mechanicsburg Navy Depot; a WWII Navy Veteran; a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Cumberland; National Assn. of Retired Federal Employees, West Shore Chapter; American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland; and a life member of V.F.W. Post 7415, New Cumberland.
Mr. Cavanaugh was born August 21, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Joseph T. and Emma (Kirschbaum) Cavanaugh.
Surviving is his wife, Doris J. (Fetrow) Cavanaugh; a son, Thomas M. Cavanaugh, Upper Allen Twp.; two daughters, Terry C. Scully, Naperville, IL, and Lori C. Lerew, York Springs; a brother, Joseph Cavanaugh, Marysville; a sister, Janet Dudley, Newport, PA; four grandchildren, Holden C. Scully, Catherine C. Scully, Christopher R. Lerew, and Nathan M. Cavanaugh; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday in his church with the Rev. Elaine M. Dent, his pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Twp.
Viewing will be 1-2 pm Thursday in the church.

Mary K. Miller Corcoran
Mary K. Miller Corcoran, 80, formerly of New Cumberland, died Sunday, June 08, 2003 at Homeland Center, Harrisburg.
She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland, VFW Auxiliary, Wormleysburg, and New Cumberland Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed craft making and baking for her church bazaars.
She was born March 24, 1923 in Petersburg, WV to the late John E. and Zetta (Ault) Miller.
The widow of Edward W. Corcoran, she is survived by two sons, John E. of New Cumberland and P. Michael of Dillsburg; and her grandchildren, Jamie and Ryan also of Dillsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday at her church.
Burial will be in Holy Savior Cemetery, York.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Mary L. Danner, 85, of Etters, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital.
She was the owner of Pierre's Café, New Cumberland. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and was dedicated to her family.
She was born January 22, 1918 in Fairview Twp. to the late Steven and Cecelia (Wantuk) Mikos.
She was the widow of Charles V. Danner. She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie M. Dietz of New Cumberland; son, Richard E. Baum of Shippensburg; brother, John S. Mikos of Chester, VA; sister, Anne E. Shumaker of Etters; five grandchildren, Kevin and Scott Dietz, Alicia and Mary Baum and Jennifer Hartung; and five great-grandchildren, Alekhin, Gwendolyn, and Paul Hartung and Kevin Dietz, Jr., Michael Dietz
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm Tuesday at her church. Burial will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Fairview Twp.
Viewings will be from 6-8pm Monday with recitation of the Rosary at 7pm and from 1-1:30pm Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Virginia K. Davis
Virginia K. Davis, 82, of New Cumberland died Wednesday June 25, 2003 in Seidle Skilled Care Center, Mechanicsburg.
She was a retired secretary for Shaull Equipment Company, Lemoyne, a Red Cross Swimming Instructor, performed puppet theatre at the former Manor Elementary School in New Cumberland and enjoyed playing "Giggle" tennis. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church, New Cumberland and its choir; past president of New Cumberland Women's Club; and Order of Eastern Star.
She was born March 16, 1921 in Harrisburg to the late Frederick and Leora (Brenisholtz) Kohle.
She was the widow of James J. Davis and is survived by 2 daughters, Jana D. DeBoard of Sandpoint, ID, Ginger K. Davis of New Cumberland and a sister Ruth Collins of New Cumberland.
Services will be held 11 am Monday June 30, 2003 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Scott Ogden, her pastor officiating.
Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Visitation will be one half hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home.
