Dorothea Jean DeMerice
Dorothea Jean DeMerice, 77, of New Cumberland, PA, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at home.
Mrs. DeMerice was a licensed Nurses Aid at Country Meadows Assisted Living, Mechanicsburg; she enjoyed her job at Country Meadows and her family was the central focus of her life.
She was born November 21, 1925, in Vancouver, WA, to the late Delbert and Mary (Jines) DeHaven.
Mrs. DeMerice was the widow of Robert Bruce DeMerice, Jr.
Two sons, Robert Bruce DeMerice, III of Jackson, New Jersey, and Michael Warren DeMerice of Lemoyne; a daughter, Marilyn Jean Elliott of New Cumberland; six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, survive her.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland with the Rev. Robert A. Graybill officiating.
Entombment will be at Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.

George S. "Pat" Diffenbaugh, Sr.
George S. "Pat" Diffenbaugh, Sr., 81, of New Cumberland, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at home.
He was a retired arrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Harrisburg Branch and a former employee of both the Naval Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg, and the Commonwealth of PA, Dept. of Labor and Industry; a World War II Army Veteran; a life member of the Second Armored Division Association, Company H, 41st Air; VFW Post 7530, Lower Allen Twp.; American Legion Post 109, Mechanicsburg.
Mr. Diffenbaugh was born July 8, 1921, in Harrisburg, to the late George W. and Kathryn M. (Bell) Diffenbaugh.
He was the widow of Mildred L. (Wert) Diffenbaugh and was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond U. Maun.
Surviving are two sons, George S. Diffenbaugh, Jr., Harrisburg, and William A. Diffenbaugh, Frederick, MD; two daughters, Kathy A. LaPerle, Salisbury, MD and Donna E. Fishel, West Fairview; a brother, Alvin Diffenbaugh of Harrisburg; 20 grandchildren and 17 great grand children.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be held 10-11 am Monday in the funeral home.

Evelyn M. Eckstine
Evelyn M. Eckstine, 86, of Mechanicsburg, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was the secretary and owner, along with her husband, the late John E. Eckstine, Sr., of the former Steel Erectors and General Welding Company, Camp Hill and a member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg.
Mrs. Eckstine was born June 30, 1916, to the late George F. and Anna M. (Fix) Brown.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Roland A. Eckstine.
Surviving is a son and daughter in law, John E., Jr. and Phyllis I. Eckstine, New Cumberland; a daughter and son in law, Lynne M. and Linnwood F. Marsh, Enola; 9 grand children and 14 great grand children.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 S. York St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

Dale E. Follmer
Dale E. Follmer, 66, of Camp Hill, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
Mr. Follmer was a retired dispatch manager for Rich Foods, Harrisburg.
He was born August 12, 1936 in Williamsport, PA to the late John C. and Helen L. (Frymier) Follmer.
Surviving is his wife, Judith A. Follmer; three sons, Craig E., Mechanicsburg, James M., Dillsburg, and David S., Mill Hall; two step daughters, Kelli O. Thompson, Harrisburg, Karin L. Fulton, Newburg; three brothers, Robert, Ralph, and Charles, all of Williamsport; a sister, Doris Shuman, Williamsport; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 6:30 pm Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Carl Ford Peterson officiating.
Viewing will held 5:30 - 6:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth B. Frye
Elizabeth B. Frye, 89, of Newberry Twp., died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Woodland Center for Nursing, Fairview Twp.
Mrs. Frye was a member of Parkville Bible Church, Etters, and a member of the Tri-County Assn. For the Blind.
She was born June 4, 1914, in Linfield, PA, to the late Henry G. and Elizabeth (Klein) Betz.
Mrs. Frye was the widow of Lewis Robert Frye.
Surviving are two sons, John H. Roller, Roswell, NM, and David R. Frye, New Cumberland; three daughters, Esther, M. Hoskin, Roswell, NM, Ruth E. Camerlin, York Haven, and Rachel L. Wertz, Etters; a brother, Henry G. Betz, Lewisberry; a sister, Catherine P. Anderson, Dover; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday in her church, Parkville Bible Church, Etters, with the Revs. Robert Witter and Mark E. Fultz officiating.
Burial will be in Paddletown Cemetery, Newberry Twp.
Viewing will be held 6-8pm Monday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Blanche MacFadyen Gonglewski
Blanche MacFayden Gonglewski, 75, of New Cumberland, died at home surrounded by her family on July 4, 2003.
She was a loving and joyous mother, wife, Grammy, sister, aunt, and friend, and will be greatly missed. Blanche was among the first women in local real estate. She began at Rothman & Schubert in New Cumberland in the early 70's, and soon moved to Jack Gaughen Realtor in Camp Hill, where she was one of the first women to sell one million dollars' worth of real estate in one year. She retired in 1995. She was born on October 29, 1927, in Kearny, New Jersey, to the late Frank and Silvia MacFadyen. In 1944, Blanche graduated at the top of her class from Kearny High School. She attended New Jersey College for Women, from which she graduated summa cum laude, followed by graduate studies in philosophy at the University of Chicago. In February 1951, she married fellow student Zygmund Gonglewski. Blanche was a vivacious participant in life: she was an active 30-year member of the First Church of the Brethren, a member of the Appalachian Trail Club, a patron of the arts, a poet, and a world traveler. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Zygmund Gonglewski, and their daughter, Katherine Dexter.
She is survived by a sister, Elyse Rogers, of Midland, Michigan; a brother, Fred MacFadyen, of Bloomfield, New Jersey; and six children: John of Albuquerque; Elisabeth of Rockville, Maryland; Hugh of Miami, Florida; Jeanette of Philadelphia; Margaret of Arlington, Virginia; and Alice of Philadelphia; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation with family will take place at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland on Thursday, July 10, from 6-8:00.
A memorial service to celebrate Blanche's life will be held at the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren on Sunday, July 20 at 2:00pm.
It was Blanche's request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the New Cumberland Public Library, 1 Benjamin Plaza, New Cumberland, PA, 17070, or the First Church of the Brethren, 219 Hummel Street, Harrisburg, PA, 17104.
Arly Mae Haas
Arly Mae Haas, 87, formerly of Shiremanstown, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Woodland Center for Nursing, Fairview Twp.
She was a retired inspector for American Can Company, Lemoyne and a member of its retiree club; and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Highland Park, Camp Hill.
Mrs. Haas was born May 7, 1916, in New Germantown, Perry County, to the late David L. and Anna B. (Barclay) Mumper.
Two sons, Jan A. of Dillsburg and John D. of Carlisle; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, survive her.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday in her church with the Rev. B. Penrose Hoover, her pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be 1-2 pm Friday at the church.
