Walter J. Panko
Walter J. Panko, 83, of Lower Allen Twp., Camp Hill died Thursday,
May 1, 2003, in Messiah Village, Upper Allen Twp.
He was a retired pipefitter for over 42 years with A.K. Steel Co. (formerly Armco Steel), Butler, PA and worked part time after his retirement in 1982 at Giant Food Store, Camp Hill. He was a WWII Army veteran assigned to Battery D of the 869th Anti-Aircraft Battalion where he was in charge of the batteries on the Marshall and Gilbert Islands prior to his discharge in October of 1945. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and its Little Flower Club.
He was born 10/27/19 in Blairsville, PA to the late Macey and Julia (Panko) Panko.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Caroline M. (Knapp) Panko; 3 sons, Walter E. and David J. Panko, both of Camp Hill and Carl M. Panko of Perkasie, PA; and 6 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Monday in his church. Entombment will be 2 pm Tuesday in Butler County Memorial Park, Butler, PA.
Viewings will be 6-8 pm Sunday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with a scripture service at 7:45 pm and 1-2 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Butler County Memorial Park.

Wallace L. "Wally" Peair
Wallace L. "Wally" Peair, 65, of East Pennsboro Twp., died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at home with his entire family by his side.
He was a retired brakeman/conductor for Conrail, Enola; a member of the 1955 graduating class of the former Enola High School; a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Enola; Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 842, Chambersburg; Home Run Club member of the University of Maryland; a lifetime member of the American Hunting Club; he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting; and most importantly, he was actively involved with his grandchildren's sporting events.
Mr. Peair was born June 18, 1937, in Martinsburg, WV, to the late Andy and Edna (Richards) Peair.
Surviving is his wife, Dolores E. Kowalick Peair; a son, Max J. Peair, Carlisle; two daughters and their husbands, Michelle M. and Leroy Dallmeyer, Enola, and Sandra L. and David Evans, Enola; a sister, Barbara Ann Phillips, MD; three grandchildren, Michael L. and Brandi L. Dallmeyer, and Christopher D. Peair.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Friday in his church with the Rev. John A. Acri as celebrant.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 225 Salt Road, Enola, PA 17025, or to Hospice Preferred Choice, 4813 Jonestown Road, Suite 211, Harrisburg, PA 17109.

James Roberts
James Roberts, 68, of Etters, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at home.
He was a retired Machinist from Hamilton Foundry, Hamilton, OH and an Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was born June 14th, 1934 in Burning Springs, KY to the late Horace and Edna (Montgomery) Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James E. Roberts.
He is survived by a son, Greg Roberts of Mt. Vernon, KY; four daughters, Donna L. Tyson of Etters, Susan E. Roberts of Knoxville, TN, and Allison N. and Karrie L. Roberts, also of Etters; six step-children; a brother, Curtis Roberts of Hamilton, OH; three sisters, Freda Marler of Mt Vernon, KY, Barbara Jones of Hamilton, OH, and Wanda Branson of IN; four grand children and a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am Monday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Stella Marie Rowe
Stella Marie Rowe, infant daughter of Gary L. Rowe, Jr. of Etters and Jamie M. Settle of Mifflintown, died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
She was born May 24th 2003 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Virona and Gary Rowe, Sr. of Etters and maternal grandparents, Sue Settle of Mifflintown and George Settle, Jr. of New Cumberland.
Memorial services will be held at 7:30pm Sunday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
Visitation will be from 6:30pm until time of service.

Mary M. Russ
Mary M. Russ, 98, of New Cumberland, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at West Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was the former owner of the Mary Russ Beauty Salon, Harrisburg, for 70 years; a member of Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Harrisburg; life member of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio; a former member of the Synchronized Swimming Club, Harrisburg.
Mrs. Russ was the widow of Richard S. Russ.
Surviving is a daughter, Dee Ofak, New Cumberland; a granddaughter and grandson in law, Kimberly A. and Brian J. Williams, Harrisburg; two great grandchildren, Colin Ivor Williams and Olivia Lauren Williams; several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am Friday in St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland with the Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson as celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Swatara Twp.
Viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:30 am Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Bernice Marie Scheffler
Bernice Marie Schreffler, 86, of Camp Hill, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Manor Care.
She was a retired meat wrapper from the former A & P Grocery Store, Highland Park and a member of New Life Baptist Church, New Cumberland. She was born July 3, 1916 in Wagner, Montana to the late Richard E. and Verda (Klock) Wiest.
The widow of Irvin S. Schreffler, she is survived by two daughters, Shirley L. Dockey of Camp Hill and Kristina L. Stahl of New Cumberland; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be from 1 to 2pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth (Hudson) Scouler
Elizabeth Scouler, 84, of Highland Park, Camp Hill died Thursday, May 22, 2003, in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was a graduate of Pierce Business School, Philadelphia and a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Highland Park, Highland Women's Club and West Shore Country Club, Camp Hill.
She was born February 4, 1919 in Philadelphia to the late Raymond Theodore & Laura J. (Long) Hudson.
She is survived by her husband James F. Scouler; 2 daughters, Jane S. Day of Boca Raton, FL and Susan S. Phillips of Lake Ridge, VA; and the loving grandmother of Jim, Beth, Bob & Chase.
A memorial service will be held 11 am Thursday May 29, 2003 in her church with the Rev. B. Penrose Hoover, Sr., her pastor officiating.
Committal will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church's Steeple Fund at 1610 Carlisle Rd. Camp Hill, PA 17011.
