Amy L. Selan
Amy L. Selan, 19, of Lewisberry, died Monday, July 7, 2003, as a result of an automobile accident in Fairview Twp..
She was a 2003 graduate of Red Land High School and was working this summer as a life guard at Hampden Twp. Swimming Pool. She was a member of Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling to the beach.
She was born March 20, 1984 to Peter M. and Roberta L. (Balsbaugh) Selan.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her brother, Jeffrey Selan at home; paternal grandmother, Annie Selan of Warren; maternal grandparents, Verna and Robert Balsbaugh of Carlisle; aunts and uncles, Barry and Tammy Balsbaugh of Duncannon, Steve and Debbie Selan of Warren, Robert and Lisa Selan of Camp Hill, Mary and Thomas Cosgrove of Elverson, and Jane & Keith LeFever of Mechanicsburg; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Thursday at her church with The Rev. Timothy R. Baer officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30pm Wednesday and from 9:30 to 10:15am Thursday at the church. Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to her church's memorial fund, 402 Valley Road, Etters, PA 17319

John M. Slavinsky
John M. Slavinsky, 50, of New Cumberland, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at his home.
He was a self employed real estate appraiser and most recently worked for SIB Mortgage Co. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1970 and Penn State University in 1975. He was an avid Penn State Fan, enjoyed cooking, and watching his daughter play basketball.
He was born August 2, 1952 in Mt. Carmel to the late John and Helen (Petroski) Slavinsky.
He is survived and greatly missed by his loving family: wife, Cheryl A. Wittle Slavinsky; daughter, Kait R. at home; sister, Carol A.; brother-in-law, James R.; and nephew, Mathew J. Bierowski all of Mechanicsburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Tuesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
Viewings will be from 6-8pm Monday with scripture services at 7:45pm and from 9:30 to 10am Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

Laura E. Sprague
Laura E. Sprague, 65, of Harrisburg died Monday, May 26, 2003 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Twp.
She was a retired secretary from Dauphin County Prison and a member of Charlton United Methodist Church, Harrisburg.
She was born November 15, 1937 in Waterman, IL to the late Cyrus Wesley and Myrtle Irene (Fox) Brooks.
She is survived by a son, Arlo Dean Sprague, Jr.; five daughters, Dorothy Irene Loza of Rochelle, IL, Lori Denise Sprague of DeKalb, IL, Deborah Diane Sprague of Swoyersville, PA, Darla June Sprague of York, PA, and Dawn Lenea Sprague of Harrisburg, PA; a sister, Maxine Warren of North Las Vegas, NV; sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 6pm Sunday at her church followed by refreshments in the social hall.

Michael Allen Sweeney
Michael Allen Sweeney, 39, of Franklin Township, Dillsburg, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at home.
Mr. Sweeney was a framer for James Barker Construction, Camp Hill; a member of Yellow Breeches Anglers Association; Bone Daddy Racing; and an avid outdoorsman and a race fan.
He was born July 21, 1963, in Carlisle, to the late Bobby N., Sr. and Linda Gale (Barkanski) Sweeney.
His spouse, Joan E. Dern; a daughter, Jennifer L. Sweeney, of Mechanicsburg; two brothers Ronald J. of Mechanicsburg, Bobby N., Jr. of Lewisberry; two sisters, Lisa Treece of Lewisberry, Sherry Sweeney of Harrisburg; and four grandchildren, survive him.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Tuesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with Pastor Steve Boyer, Christ Community Church of Camp Hill, officiating.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Visitation will be held 1-2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

Norma Leicht Underdonk
Norma Leicht Underdonk, 83, of Harrisburg, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Manor Care, Harrisburg.
Ms. Underdonk was born November 16, 1919, in New Cumberland, to the late George W. and Daisy P. (Mickey) Underdonk.
She was retired as secretary to the chief, PA Dept. of Transportation, Harrisburg; a member of the First United Methodist Church, Harrisburg; United Methodist Women; PA Assn. of Retired State Employees. Surviving is a son, Donald K. Underdonk, II, Queen Creek, AZ; two grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 am Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Paul W. Kauffman officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Twp.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 201, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Marjorie F. Urich
Marjorie F. Urich, 74, of New Cumberland died Saturday, June 21, 2003 in Masonic Homes, Elizabethtown.
She was a retired English and History teacher for the Harrisburg School District, a former substitute teacher for West Shore School District, and a graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland; American University Women; and Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She was born September 3, 1928 in Oil City, PA to the late Craig H. & Elsie M. (Reynolds) Fluent.
She was the widow of John L. Urich and is survived by a son J. Craig Urich of Mechanicsburg and a brother Michael Fluent of Mesquite, TX.
Services will be held 2 pm Monday 6/23/03 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Masonic Homes, One Masonic Dr. Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr. Lancaster, PA 17601.

Paul E. Wetzel
Paul E. Wetzel, 85, formerly of New Cumberland, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the Woods at Cedar Run, Lower Allen Twp.
He was a retired foreman and machinist for Harrisburg Steel, Harrisburg; a Navy Veteran of WWII; a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Highland Park, Camp Hill; a Special Fire Police Officer and a life time member of the New Cumberland Fire Dept.; New Cumberland River Rescue; American Legion, Post 143, New Cumberland; and a charter member of Boy Scouts Troop 82, New Cumberland.
Mr. Wetzel was born June 25, 1917, in Churchtown, Cumberland County, to the late Jacob E. and Laura A. (Stammel) Wetzel.
H e was the widow of Bessie M. (Schurlknight) Wetzel. Surviving is a son, Howard M. Wetzel, New Cumberland; a brother and sister in law, Donald S. and Maralee S. Wetzel, Tucson, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 2pm Monday, June 2, 2003 at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

Ivan Titus Yost
Ivan Titus Yost, formerly of Rome, NY passed away on June 5, 2003 at the Masonic Home, Utica, NY. He had resided there since June 2002.
Ivan was born February 12, 1922 in Yocumtown Pennsylvania to Titus A. and Minnie B. Yost.
He was a graduate of New Cumberland High School and attended Thompson Business College in Harrisburg, PA. On July 17, 1942 he married Geraldine W. Shoap of Harrisburg. She passed away in 1974. Mr. Yost entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served at the Base Air Depot in Burtonwood, England. He was discharged in 1946 as Master Sergeant. He began his career as a secretary at Mercersburg Academy but later accepted employment with the Federal Government in Middletown, PA in 1941. He transferred to Rome, NY in 1942. In the same year, he typed the order to officially open Griffiss Air Force Base. He remained there as Chief of Administration, retiring in 1971. Post retirement, he held positions with Canterbury Press, the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, and City Publishing Company. Ivan's community service activities included: First President of Grifiss Air Force Base Credit Union, Chairman of Rome's Fort Stanwix Days, 1966-1970, Chairman of Oneida County Planning Board, Chair of Herkimer-Oneida Counties Comprehensive Planning Program, past Secretary of Board of Managers of Rome Hospital, past Secretary of Board of Relations Committee-Buildings Campaign for Rome Family YMCA, Chair of Urban Renewal Committee of Rome Area Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of Rome Hatheway Lodge #223, O.E.S. Wanekena Chapter #650, and A.A.S.R. (Scottish Rite). Ivan personified the word "character". He embraced the concept in his personal and professional relationships, but was also a character in the most individual and humorous sense of the word. He was a voracious reader, a champion of liberal causes and was constantly enthralled with current events both political and social. He voiced his opinion on such issues through more-than-frequent letter writing. Ivan also used his typewriter to maintain old friendships as well as to establish new ones, and anyone who knew him or had even briefly met him was likely to have received at least one of his famed letters. Ivan's main gift was his unfailing ability to make anyone and everyone smile. For Ivan, multitudes of friends and admirers were easy to come by simply because he was unforgettable. Without question, Ivan embraced life and lived his to its fullest extent.
Ivan is survived by daughters Mary Ann and Ronald Martinez, Westminster, Colorado; Janet Lascurettes and David Burr, Holland Patent; NY, Kristina Yost; and step-daughter Suzanne and Nick Teal, Colorado. He also leaves three grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Martinez and Kyle Lascurettes, two great-grandchildren, and a former son-in-law, Tod Lascurettes. He is survived by many Pennsylvania relatives including sisters-in-law Martha Yost, Peggy Yost and many special nieces and nephews who remained close to their Uncle Ivan.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gerry, daughter Suzanne Campana, sisters Miriam Jacobsen and Nora Bowman, and brothers Erwin and Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday at Newberrytown Church of God with his nephew, Pastor David A. Yost officiating.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be from 10am until time of service Wednesday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Newberrytown Church of God, 2290 Old Trail Road, Etters, PA 17319
