Stephen Francis Sebastian, 48, of Fairview Twp. died unexpectedly Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Harrisburg Hospital.
Stephen was an IMO at Defense Distribution Depot Susquehanna PA. He was a 1973 Graduate of West Catholic High School, Philadelphia. A Veteran of the United States Air Force, he served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. An avid golfer, he was a member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church Golf League. He was a published poet and enjoyed reading.
Born April 12, 1955 in Bryn Mawr, PA. He is predeceased by his father, Paul Justo Sebastian. Beloved husband of Susan P. Hayes Sebastian. He is also survived by his mother, Bridget Ann Sullivan Sebastian of Philadelphia two brothers, Brian of Bridgton, NJ and Paul of Sewell, NJ; and seven nephews and nieces, Jonathon, John, Ryan, Caitlin, Paul, Ian, and Brendan. All of his family and friends will miss him dearly.
Viewings will be from 6-8pm. Tuesday with a Scripture Service at 7:30pm. and Wednesday from 9 to 9:30am. at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday at St. Theresa’s with The Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.

Jeffrey H. Lowe

Jeffrey H. Lowe, 48, of Middle Paxton Twp., died Tuesday April 6, 2004 at his residence.
He was a Photo Journalist for the Patriot News Corporation. He was born June 23, 1955 in Harrisburg and was preceded in death by his mother Barbara A. (Gohl) Lowe.
He is survived by his wife Rita A. (Swedkowski) Lowe; his father Clifford P. Lowe of New Cumberland; and a sister Joyce A. Hamilton of New Cumberland
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday April 12, 2004 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Committal will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home.

Romaine E. Shaub

Romaine E. Shaub, 87, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
She had been an employee of the former Penn Harris Hotel and the former Kinney Shoe Corporation, both of Camp Hill. Mrs. Shaub was born June 4, 1916, in Harrisburg, to the late Elmer and Mary I. (Danner) Sunday and was the widow of Lewis D. Shaub, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor I. Singer.
Surviving are three sons, Lewis D. (Whitey) Shaub, Jr., Goodyear, AZ, Elmer W. Shaub, Dillsburg, and Jack M. Shaub, Mechanicsburg; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland, with Pastor Shawn J. Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be held 10 – 11 am Tuesday in the funeral home.

Alvin G. Eckenrode

Alvin G. Eckenrode, 83, of New Cumberland, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at Carlisle Regional Hospital, Carlisle.
Mr. Eckenrode was a retired clerk for Conrail, Harrisburg area; a WWII Army Air Corps veteran; a member of New Cumberland First Church of God; Pennsylvania Railroad Veteran Employees Organization, Harrisburg; and he enjoyed mall walking and yard saling. He was born April 16, 1920, in Harrisburg to the late Alvin S. and Ethel N. (Benner) Eckenrode. Mr. Eckenrode was the widower of Marion L. Weaver Eckenrode
Surviving is a son, David G., Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Doris J. Lentz, Abbottstown and Barbara A. Jackle, Drexel Hill; four grandchildren, Joel F. Jackle, Beverly A. Eckenrode, Daniel E. Lentz, and Michael G. Lentz.
Graveside services will be held 2 pm Wednesday in East Harrisburg Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis E. Hamsher, his pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to his church, fourth and Reno Streets, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
Theodore J. Stanley

Theodore J. Stanley, 86, of New Cumberland, departed this life at his home on April 17, 2004 after a long illness.
Born November 11, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan, he was raised in Dearborn, Michigan before attending college at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. He retired from the U.S. Federal Government on January 4, 1980 following a distinguished career as a Logistician spanning 40 years. His early career took him to many duty stations including Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois; Fort Omaha, Nebraska; Fort Custer in Battle Creek, Michigan; and Tokyo Army Depot in Occupied Japan immediately following World War II. He later worked at Fifth Army Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois and Fort Sheridan in the Chicago area. In 1968 he accepted a position with the Logistics Doctrine and Systems Readiness Agency in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania which later became the Logistics Evaluation Agency. In 1972, he served a voluntary tour of duty in Viet Nam as an expert in army logistics. During the course of his career, he was the recipient of numerous varied awards. He retired from the Federal Government in 1980. Subsequent to his retirement, he served as a consultant to the Saudi Arabian military in Riyadh from 1982 to 1984. Surviving are his devoted wife of 57 years, Betty J. Moore Stanley of New Cumberland, who lovingly cared for him during his extended period of illness; daughter, Sherilyn Stanley of Carlisle; daughter Pamela Needham and her husband, Charles of Mechanicsburg; grandson, Colin C. Needham of Mechanicsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Helen Sommers of Dearborn, Michigan.
Viewing will be at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, from 9:30am to 10:30am. Following the viewing, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at his church, Saint Theresa’s Roman Catholic, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Monsignor William M. Richardson as celebrant. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.

John R. McCaslin, Jr.

John R. “Jack” McCaslin, Jr., 52, of New Cumberland, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was an employee of Pizza Hut, Camp Hill; a 1969 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill; a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 143, New Cumberland; a social member of VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland; a former member of the Enola Sportsman’s Assn. and was a dedicated NASCAR and Professional Golf Assn. fan. Mr. McCaslin was born October 10, 1951, in Mechanicsburg, to the late John R. McCaslin, Sr. and Mary Agnes Grubic Jackson of Camp Hill.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister and her husband, Beth A. and Kenneth L. Arnett; step sisters, Susan Stoner and Brenda Robinson, both of New Cumberland; beloved pets, Nickie, Indy, and Lee-Lee; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted friends.
Memorial services will be held 6:30 pm Tuesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Andrew Fitch officiating. Visitation will be held 5 – 6:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Martha S. Appleby

Martha S. Appleby, 98, of Frey Village, Middletown, and formerly of Pennbrook, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the Village.
She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland and the Frey Village Auxiliary. Mrs. Appleby was born December 23, 1905, to the late Hugh (an Irish Immigrant) and Martha (Frew) McCloy. She was the widow of Thomas E. Appleby and also preceded in death by a son, John W. Appleby and a son in law, Samuel S. Feehrer, Jr.
Surviving is a son and daughter in law, Theodore C. and Georgetta Appleby, Harrisburg; three daughters, Isabelle M. Feehrer, Linglestown, H. June Davis and husband Richard F., Mechanicsburg, Anne M. Parsons and husband Roy, Canton, OH; a daughter in law, Fae E. Appleby; a sister Mary J. Recla, Llewellyn, PA; eleven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday in her church with Pastor Elaine M. Dent officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be held 9:30 – 11 am Wednesday in the church.
