Pamfilo Joseph "Joe" Zinobile
April 17, 2004
Pamfilo Joseph “Joe” Zinobile of Johnstown and Camp Hill, PA passed into the Lord’s hands on the morning of Saturday April 17, 2004, after 74 years of life. He was the son of Mary and Joseph Zinobile of Mount Union, PA who preceded him in death.
He served in the USAF for four years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant after service in Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Guam, and Tai Pae. After graduating from Shippensburg State College in 1956 with degrees in Social Studies and Business Education, he taught at East Pennsboro High School for 3 years before entering the insurance business in 1959. He was a successful insurance broker (President of Metro Insurance Agency, Inc.) and real estate investor in the Harrisburg area. He also renovated the old “Beachcomber” night club and ran it as the River City Inn before selling it. Until recently, he was a columnist for the Valley Log newspaper. He was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the VFW, a life member of the Mount Union Alumni Assoc, a member of the Mechanicsburg Club, the American Legion, Elks Club, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockledge, FL and St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland.
Surviving are sons Joseph of Johnstown and Steven of Landisburg, and daughters Louise “Louanne” Chan of Baltimore, Kathleen Peiffer of Camp Hill, and Amy Dawson of Elizabethtown. He is also survived by three sisters, Madeline Piper of Sharon, Rose P. Benigni of Ebensburg, and Mary Lou Chapman, Oveido, FL; 12 grandchildren. One grandchild predeceased him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Friday in his church with the Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson. Burial with military honors will be in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Viewing will be held 6 -8 pm Thursday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
In accordance with his wishes, his family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Doctors Without Borders USA, P.O. Box 1856, Merrifield, VA 22116-8056 or the American Heart Association, Capital Region Division, 1517 Cedar Cliff Drive, Camp Hill, Pa 17011.

Linda Kay Fickes
April 12, 2004
Linda Kay Fickes, 52, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died April 12, 2004, at her home.
She was a former employee of the DDSP, New Cumberland; attended Faith Assembly of God, New Cumberland; member of American Legion Post 143, and VFW Post 7415, both of New Cumberland; she enjoyed walking, gardening, and most importantly, she enjoyed her grandchildren. Linda was born January 1, 1952, in Chambersburg, to Paul and Virginia (Helman) Flora of Shippensburg.
In addition to her parents, surviving is a son, Jeffrey S. Thrush, Dover; a daughter, Rebecca M. Schwartz, Harrisburg; a brother, John Flora, Waynesboro; four sisters, Virginia Henderson and Barbara Wadel, both of Chambersburg, Kathy Coldsmith, Shippensburg, and Paula Thomas, Greencastle; three grandchildren.
Services will be held 2 pm Friday in St. Thomas Assembly of God Church, 173 Rhondel Drive, St. Thomas, PA.

John Julius Dress
April 23, 2004
John Julius Dress, 88, of Country Meadows of West Shore, Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Lemoyne, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at Holy Spirit Hospital.
He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a retired supervising engineer from the former Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lemoyne; American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland; West Shore Lodge No. 681, F & AM, Camp Hill; Consistory; Zembo Shrine; Zembo Luncheon Club; Cumberland County Shrine Club; York County Shrine Club; Bell Telephone Pioneers of America; Lemoyne Senior Citizens; and a past member of various musical organizations including the Shrine and Consistory Orchestras and the Calvary Church Sunday School Orchestras. He was born August 8, 1915 in Steelton to the late John Julius and Elizabeth S. (Gruber) Dress.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Agnes L. McNear Dress; two sons and daughters in law, John J., III and Lorraine of Atlanta, GA and J. Michael and Judith of Mechanicsburg; and three grandsons, James B. of Barcelona, Spain, Stephen M. of Houston, Texas and Erich M. of Mechanicsburg
Memorial services will be held at 11am Tuesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 700 Market Street, Lemoyne. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Private entombment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Memorial Contributions may be made to Children’s Fund at Zembo Shrine, 2801 N. Third Street, Harrisburg, Pa 17110 or to his church.

Christine H. Smith
April 24, 2004
Christine H. Smith, 85, of Lemoyne died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at ManorCare, Carlisle.
She was a retired Branch Manager from the former CCNB Bank, Lemoyne. She was a 1936 graduate of Susquehanna Twp. High School and a member of its Alumni Association. She was a fifty year plus member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lemoyne where she served on numerous boards and committees and taught Sunday School for many years. She was born October 21, 1918 in Penbrook to the late Michael David and Nellie Pearl (Wadell) Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Louis E. Smith; a daughter-in-law, Linda Gould of Macungie; a sister, Marian Brinkley of Enola; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Wednesday at her church. Interment will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery, Susquehanna Twp. Viewing will be from 9:30 until time of service Wednesday at her church.

Marianne A. Orris
April 25, 2004
Marianne A. Orris, 96, formerly of Pittsburgh, Herndon, VA and Lewisberry died Sunday April 25, 2004 in Claremont Nursing Center, Carlisle.
Marianne was the former owner / operator of Marianne’s Children’s Store, Braddock, PA and enjoyed sewing, playing Bridge and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and a former member of St. Paul’s Cathedral, Pittsburgh and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Herndon, VA. Marianne was born September 26, 1907 in Pittsburgh to the late Casimirus and Stephania (Derdowska) Zachowska.
Marianne was the widow of Michael L. Orris and is survived by a son David M. Orris of Oak Hill, VA; a daughter Joan M. Papinchak of Gaston, SC; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm Wednesday April 28, 2004 in the Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be Saturday June 5, 2004 in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2209 Forest Hills Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17112.

Ardith Jeannine Tetherow

Ardith Jeannine Tetherow, 74, of Mechanicsburg died Friday April 30, 2004 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp., PA
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, a graduate of Indiana Vocational Technical Institute and a former airplane pilot with the Civil Air Patrol. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Greensburg, IN; Harrisburg Bridge Club; Welcome Wagon; and Psi Iota Xi, Greensburg, IN. She was born March 23, 1930 in Decatur, IL. to the late Howard and Wilma (Murray) Smittinger.
She is survived by 5 daughters, Janice Kaye Tetherow Salisbury of New Cumberland, Anita Marie DuJardin of Morgan Hill, CA, Kristine Ann Thomas of Lewisberry, Sandra Ellen Zeisloft of Mechanicsburg and Beverly Jayne Reynolds of Pittsburgh; 2 sisters, Joyce Rueff of Corpus Christi, TX and Karen Lusk of Columbus, IN; and 12 grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by infant twin daughters and her former husband Paul N. Tetherow, all of whom are buried at Mount Hope Cemetary, Wood Lake, Nebraska.
A memorial service will be held Monday May 3, 2004 at 11 am in Bethany Village Chapel, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Wood Lake, NE on Thursday May 6. Visitation will be one half hour prior to service Monday in the chapel at Bethany Village.

George W. Bair, Jr.
May 8, 2004
George W. Bair, Jr., 66, of East Pennsboro Twp., Camp Hill died Saturday May 8, 2004 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a retired Guidance Counselor at East Pennsboro Middle School and a former Athletic Director for East Pennsboro High School with 37 years of service to the District. He was a graduate of Shippensburg University where he also received his Masters in Guidance. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill and its Men’s Breakfast Group. Mr. Bair was born August 12, 1937 in Lower Allen Twp. to the late George W. and Frances (Brenneman) Bair, Sr.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn K. (Thomas) Bair; 2 daughters, Kelly A. Smith and husband Jeffrey L. of Mechanicsburg and Kathryn L. Keeney and husband Michael D. of Selinsgrove; 4 sisters, Frances Sax of Flushing, NY, Janet Eppley of Etters, Audrey Gamby of Harrisburg and Brenda Weitzenhoffer of Roswell, GA; 4 grandchildren, Benjamin R. and Kathryn E. Smith and Megan A. and Elise M. Keeney.
Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday May 11, 2004 in his church with the Rev’s. B. Penrose Hoover and Joel Petruschke officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be one hour prior to service Tuesday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church at 1610 Carlisle Rd. Camp Hill, PA 17011.
