Dorothy M. Turruiviate

Dorothy M. Turruiviate, 80, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Twp.
She was a retired cook from Coakley's Restaurant & Pub, New Cumberland; a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post 7415 and the American Legion Post 143, both of New Cumberland; an avid sports fan, particularly the Cleveland Browns, the Dallas Cowboys, the West Shore Pool League, and the Browns Backers Softball Team; she was also a member of the Browns Backers Club. Mrs. Turruiviate was born October 9, 1923, in Faison, Duplin County, North Carolina, to the late Luther B. and Lula Mae Gautier. She was the widow of Lon C. Smith, Sr. and Ysmael “Smiley” Turruiviate.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth W. Smith, Holly Ridge, NC, and Lon C. Smith, Camp Hill; two daughters, Betty F. Adams, New Cumberland, and Lula B. Yohe, Mechanicsburg; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Steven Grosvenor officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be 6-8 pm Thursday in the funeral home.

Manfred Schild

Manfred Schild, 78, of Newberry Twp. died Thursday March 11, 2004 in Manor Care South, York.
He was a retired accountant and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Schild will be buried in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. and there will be no services. Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland is handling arrangements.
Edna D. Bailey
March 4, 2004
Edna Davis Bailey of Harrisburg, died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
Mrs. Davis was one of the first residents of the Towne House Apartments when she moved to Harrisburg in 1961. She had graduated from the Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing, obtained a BS from the University of Pennsylvania and a masters degree from the Wharton School. The majority of her working career was spent as a nurse and subsequently in the field of nursing education. In 1948 she became the Director of the Nursing Department and School of Nursing at The Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia
She is survived by a brother, Robert Davis of Kingston, PA and a host of friends in the central Pennsylvania area.
According to her request, there will be no services. All other arrangements are being handled by Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland

Norene M. Jenkins

Norene Moul Hamme Jenkins, 89, formerly of Reeser’s Summit, Fairview Twp. Died Wednesday March 3, 2004 in Manor Care, Camp Hill.
She was a retired typist for Holmes O.K. Lettershop, Lemoyne and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, New Cumberland and its Couples for Christ Sunday School Class. She was born April 27, 1914 in Shiloh, York Co. to the late Harry L. and Elsie (Moul) Hamme.
She was the widow of Richard C. Jenkins and is survived by 3 sons, Richard C. Jr. and wife Nancy S. of Mt. Pleasant, Jeffrey G. and wife Sande W. of Mt. Holly Springs and Harry L. and wife Kathy H. of New Cumberland; a brother M. Duane Hamme and wife Esther D. of York; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Private burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery, York.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front St. Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to her church at 405 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070.
Mary R. Haley

Mary R. (Purcell) Haley, 83, formerly of New Cumberland, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at her son’s home in Dillsburg.
She was a retired employee of the Commonwealth of PA, Dept. of Motor Vehicles, Harrisburg and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, and its Rosary recitation group. Mrs. Haley was born October 29, 1920, in Williamsport, PA, to the late James and Mary (Lash) Purcell. She was the widow of Edmund A. Haley, Sr.
Surviving are five sons, Edmund A., Jr. of PA, Frank R. of PA, Charles E. of PA, Michael B. of NH, and David J. of PA; a sister, Edna Nebbio, Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Monday in her church with the Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson as celebrant. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp. Viewing will be held 2 – 4 pm Sunday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rosary being recited at 3 pm.

Daniel P. LaMar

C.W.O. Daniel P. LaMar, US Navy, Ret., 50 of Shiremanstown died Tuesday March 23, 2004 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was a graduate of Northampton High School, a retired Chief Warrant Officer for the United States Navy, last stationed in Memphis Naval Air Station, Memphis TN and was currently a Watch Officer for the PA Emergency Management Agency. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland and its choir; the Irish Heritage Society; and vice president of Childrens Friendship Project for Northern Ireland, Inc. He was born July 26, 1953 in Allentown, PA.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis M. (Hollywood) LaMar; 3 daughters, Susan M., Danielle L. and Karen S., all at home; his mother Joyce Demczyszyn of North Catasaqua; his father James Peters of Allentown; 4 brothers, John D. Demczyszyn of Northampton, Scott W. Demczyszyn of Quakertown, Mark Peters of Albrightsville and Larry Peters of Alburtis; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 pm Saturday March 27, 2004 in his church with the Rev. Msgr. William Richardson, his pastor as celebrant. Committal will be in Derry, Ireland. Viewings will be 6-8 pm Friday with a Scripture service at 7:45 pm and again 1-1:30 pm Saturday, both in the funeral home.

Muriel Dunham Abbott

Muriel (Dunham) Abbott, 82, of Camp Hill died Friday March 19, 2004 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Allendale, Camp Hill and the Allendale Association. She was born November 9, 1921 in Northville, NY to the late Nelson and Melissa (Whitney) Dunham.
She was the widow of Paul S. Abbott and is survived by a son John W. Abbott of New Cumberland; 2 daughters, Lynn W. Waltham of Whitesboro, NY and Jyl Abbott Reeves of Clarks Summit, PA; a brother John Dunham of Marathon, FL; a sister Melissa Cunningham of Baltimore, MD; and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son P. Scott Abbott.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Monday March 22, 2004 in her church with the Rev. Dr. Tim Roach, her pastor officiating. Burial will be in Northville Cemetery, NY. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday in the church.
