Betty J. Saltzer, 89, of Mount Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, May 2 at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg.
Born in Lebanon, Lebanon County, she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha A. Anspach Behney.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elizabethtown. Prior to retiring in 1964, she was employed for 18 years at the former Olmsted Air Force Base, Lower Swatara Twp. A member of the Lebanon Senior Citizens, Mrs. Saltzer enjoyed playing pinochle with friends.
She was the widow of Ernest L. Saltzer who died in 1991.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L., wife of Kenneth W. Fetterhoff, Grantville; a son, Gary L. (husband of Judith E.) Bitterman, Fredericksburg, PA; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Behney and a sister, Kathryn Lutz-Grissinger.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Frank S. Miller Funeral Home, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown with The Rev. James D. Corbett officiating. Interment will be in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Joseph Rhen, Ph.D.
Joseph Edward Rhen, Ph.D., 81, of East Main Street, Middletown, died Monday, May 3 in the Hospice of Central PA Residence, Susquehanna Twp.
Born in Richmond Hill, NY, he was the son of the late David J. and Laura (Schaffer) Rhen.
He was professor emeritus from Millersville University, Millersville, PA; a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Franklin & Marshall College, Class of 1934; and earned his master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
He began his teaching career at East Drumore Twp. High School, Quarryville 1934-1937; and had taught at Honeybook High School, 1937-38; Chester High School, 1938-48; John Harris High School, Harrisburg, 1948-1950; Hershey High School, 1950-1956; Millersville University, 1956-1974, teaching Latin and served as English department chairman from 1971 until his retirement.
He was a member of First Church of God, Middletown; a member of Phi Beta Kappa of Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster; an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the 42nd Division as First SGT. He enjoyed traveling and had made several trips to Europe.
He is survived by two brothers, Dale S. Rhen of Hummelstown and Rev. R. Jack Rhen of York; two nieces, Michelle Allen of Hummelstown and Beth Johnson of Glastonbury, CT; one nephew, David Rhen, Owings Mills, MD; three great-nieces, Rachel Allen, Heather Rhen and Rebecca Allen; and one great-nephew, Connor Johnston.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the First Church of God, 245 W. High Street, Middletown with Pastor William H. Reist officiating. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the church.

Gladys Reinhard
Gladys M. Reinhard, 84, of Catalpa Street, Middletown, died Wednesday, July 28 in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Middletown.
She was the widow of William J. Reinhard.
She is survived by a son, Robert W. of Camp Hill; two daughters, Helen T. Moore of Steelton and Janet M. Kimmel of Lebanon; two sisters, Ethel Wise and Helen Tobias, both of Lebanon; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday in her church. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp.

Leah Lepperd
Leah E. (Hetrick) Lepperd, 82, of East Harrisburg Pike, Londonderry Twp., died Thursday, July 29 at her residence.
Born in Piketown, she was the daughter of the late Riley and Leah R. (Nye) Hetrick.
She was a retired clerk for the former McCrory's Dept. Store, Middletown; a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Post 594 Auxiliary, all of Middletown; and Londonderry Senior Citizens.
She was the widow of Benjamin P. Lepperd Sr.
She is survived by six daughters, Nancy Keister, Londonderry Twp., Betty Simmers, Norfolk, VA, Beverly Groff, Mt. Joy, Rita Fruhwirth, Hummelstown, Darlene Lepperd, Dresher, and Peggy Lepperd, at home; two sons, Benjamin P. Lepperd Jr., Hummelstown and Robert Lee Lepperd, Peach Tree City, GA; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at Evangelical United Methodist Church, Spruce and Water streets, Middletown with Rev. Paul F. Zieber officiating. Burial was in Hummelstown Cemetery.
