Earl L. Doup, 57, of Deatrich Avenue, Middletown, died Monday, January 3 in I.H.S. of Hershey at Woodlands, Derry Twp.
Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late William P. and May Brubaker Doup.
He was a consultant for the Fruehauf Corporation, and prior to this he was a controller for the former Fruehauf Corp., Middletown.
He was a member of the First Church of God; member and financial secretary of Rescue Hose Co. #3; graduate of the former Middletown High School Class of 1959; and member of Middletown Historical Society, all of Middletown.
He was also a member of Dauphin County Volunteer Fireman's Association and Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War; and enjoyed camping, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Manfred) Doup; two sisters, Ruth Guenther of Middletown and Anna May Santos of Harrisburg; three brothers, Paul of Londonderry Twp., James of Elizabethtown and Edwin of Royalton; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. and Mrs. Doup had celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary September 25, 1999.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in his church with Rev. William H. Reist officiating. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday in his church.

Henry Jirik
Henry F. Jirik, 66, of Oberlin Road, Lower Swatara Twp., died Friday, December 24 in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lebanon.
He was retired from PennDOT and from the Air Force as a master sergeant; was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown and its Golden Group; American Legion Post 594; Knights of Columbus; Air Force Sergeant Association; and a life member of VFW Post 7415, New Cumberland.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Enney Jirik; two daughters, Kathleen A. Etnoyer of Harrisburg and Rosemary M. Vice of Wilmington, NC; a brother, Robert of Mahnomen, MN; and three grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at his church with the Rev. Louis P. Ogden as celebrant. Burial will be with military honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Frank E. Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home, Middletown.

Mary Strouse
Mary B. Strouse, 86, of North Pine Street, Middletown, died Wednesday, December 22 at home.
She was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Middletown.
She was the widow of Oliver D. Strouse.
She is survived by two daughters, Rita S. Strouse, with whom she lived, and Marcella D. Shire of Lancaster.
Services were held Monday in the Frank E. Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home, Middletown with the Rev. Louis P. Ogden officiating. Burial was in Middletown Cemetery.

Terry Laverty
Terry L. Laverty, 62, of Clearview Drive, Lower Swatara Twp., died Saturday, December 25 at home.
Born January 4, 1937 in Middletown, he was the son of the late Edward B. Z. and Hilda M. Shireman Laverty.
He was a retired construction facilities supervisor for Bell Atlantic and worked at Dauphin Highlands; was a graduate of Middletown High School Class of 1954; a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church; and Middletown Elks and Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Griffith Laverty; two sons, Terry Jr. of Pittsburgh and Gary of Middletown; a daughter, Julie L. Kupp of Middletown; a brother, Larry of Davenport, FL; a sister, Jacqueline Conjar of Middletown; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The couple were marriage June 30, 1955.
Services were held Tuesday at Coble-Reber Funeral Home, Middletown with Rev. Paul F. Zieber officiating. Burial will be private.

Vera Mihovich
Vera Walker Mihovich, 86, of Nissley Drive, Lower Swatara Twp., formerly of Leeds, England, died Saturday, December 25 in Villa Teresa Nursing Home.
She was a former member of Salvation Army and Weslyn Chapel of Sussex, England.
She was the widow of Andrew Mihovich.
She is survived by a son, John at home.
Services were held on Tuesday in the Frank E. Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home, Middletown with the Rev. Paul E. Maulfair officiating. Burial was in Middletown Cemetery.
Claire Eckerd
Claire W. Witmer Eckerd, 83, of ManorCare Health Services, King Russ Road, Lower Paxton, formerly of Royalton, died Thursday, December 23 at ManorCare.
She was a retired employee of Hershey Hotel; was a former volunteer at Frey Village Nursing Center, Middletown.
She is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn Romberger of Phoenixville; three brothers, Martin B., Glenn B. and Berne B. Witmer, all of Harrisburg; two sisters, Winifred I. Bomgardner of Harrisburg and Beatrice W. Hoffman of Hershey; one grandson; and two great-grandsons.
Services were held Monday at the Frank E. Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home, Middletown with Rev. Thomas Sanagorski officiating. Burial was in Shoop's Cemetery, Lower Paxton Twp.
William Snyder
William Cameron Snyder, 80, of Rife Street, Royalton, formerly of Doe Hill, VA, died December 26 at the Hershey Medical Center.
Born July 9, 1919 in Doe Hill, he was a son of Samuel Cameron and Annie Laura (Kiracofe) Snyder.
He was a member of the Doe Hill United Methodist Church; and a World War II veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater in the Amphibian Engineer Corps.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed in long-distance trucking.
He is survived by a sister, Norma (Mrs. James F.) Varner of Monterey; a niece, Vonne Siron; a great-nephew, Evan Siron; a great-niece, Lauren Siron; and a number of cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Doe Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Charles W. Townsend.
Active pallbearers will be Carson and Gary Snyder, Larry and Scott Armstrong, Bob McCray and Gernon Hoover.
There will be no visitation or public viewing.

Grace I. Orner, 81, of Candlewycke Drive, Middletown, died Sunday, December 26 at home.
She was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Middletown.
She was the widow of George E. Orner.
She is survived by two sons, Stanley J. Jurgill, with whom she lived, and James G. Orner of Ogden, UT; three daughters, Eleanore D. Leeper of Camp Hill, Florence P. Sheriff of Enola and Irene D. McKinnon of Austin, TX; a brother, Lawrence Beaver of Warminster; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
