Joseph C. Blanchard, 81, of Hershey, and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, FLA, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2003, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lebanon.
Born in Orono, Maine, on October 27, 1921, he was the son of the late Philip and Edythe Southerland Carter. He retired as a cab driver in Fort Lauderdale. He was an Army veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3502, Hershey.
He is survived by one son, William Blanchard husband of Deborah Yantz Blanchard of Hershey; one daughter, Des Ashmeade of Monticello, NY; three sisters, Marilyn, Caroline and Wilma; one brother, Albert; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at 1 PM in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township, Lebanon County.

LINDA L. WYLAND SWARTZ
Linda L. Wyland Swartz, 89, formerly of Perry County and Country Meadows of Hershey, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at the Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg.
Born in Millerstown on April 1, 1914, she was the daughter of the late James and Cora Edna Fahnestock Wyland.
She retired from the Pennsylvania State Department of Benefits and was a former employee of the Hershey Chocolate Company 2nd and 3rd floor wrapping department. She enjoyed sewing and doing crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold J. Swartz on January 14, 1953.
She is survived by 2 brothers, Roy D. Wyland of Baltimore, MD and Howard J. Wyland of New Kingstown.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vivian R. Sgrignoli; a brother Raymond M. Wyland and two sisters, Margaret M. Bechtel and Ida Mae Chase.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 30, 2003 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc. 114 West Main Street Hummelstown. Interment will be in the Stoverdale Cemetery, Hummelstown. Friends are invited to call Thursday, May 29, 2003 from 7 to 9 in the funeral home and on Friday at 10 AM until time of the services.

THOMAS G. STAPF
Thomas G. Stapf, 61, of Hershey, passed away Friday, May 16, 2003, in the Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg on September 11, 1941, he was the son of the Mary Sullivan Stapf of Mechanicsburg and the late John S. Stapf. He was a Contract Administrator for Rite Aid Corporation, Camp Hill, and had formerly worked in the family’s business - the John Stapf Corporation. He was a 1960 graduate of Malvern Prep School, and attended the University of Miami and Elizabethtown College. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. He was a former member of the Hershey Rotary Club, the Curling Team of the Hershey Country Club, and a volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House, Hershey. He was an avid auto racing fan, enjoyed working in the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan Deckard Stapf; two sons, Thomas G. Stapf, Jr. and his wife, Wilhelmina Richards Stapf of Elizabethtown, John N. Stapf and his wife, Christine Heimbach Stapf of Maytown; two grandchildren; Sarah Elizabeth Stapf of Maytown and Samuel Wilson Stapf of Elizabethtown; a brother, John S. Stapf and his wife Anne McManus Stapf of Harrisburg, and a sister, M. Barbara Cleveland and her husband C. E. Thomas Cleveland of Briarcliff Manor, NY.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 10:30 AM in the St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 114 State Street, Harrisburg with The Rev. Msgr. Hugh A. Overbaugh of St. Catherine Laboure Roman Catholic Church as celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Swatara Township.
Friends are invited to call on Monday, May 19, 2003 from 7 to 9 PM at the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 PM Monday in the funeral home.

GEORGE W. DEIMLER
George W. Deimler, 94, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003, in the Integrated Health Services of Hershey at the Woodlands.
Born in Chambers Hill on March 5, 1909, he was the son of the late George W. Sr. and Susan Logan Deimler. He retired from the Hershey Foods Corporation where he was a rigger; and had worked part-time for the Hummelstown Cemetery and the former Hesteco Dress & Sportswear Manufacturing Company, Hummelstown. He was a 1926 graduate of the former Swatara Township High School. He was a member of the former Hummelstown Church of the Brethren He was a former member of the Hummelstown Cemetery Association Board, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 410, Middletown. He was an avid hunter and gun collector.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion M. Love Deimler, on March 13, 1987.
He is survived by one son, Bryan L. Deimler of Bainbridge; two daughters, Beryl E. Brown of Beaver, Utah, and Wendy wife of Richard L. Nunemacher of Harrisburg; two sisters, Mildred Lichtenfels of York Springs, and Margaret Gochnaur of Middletown; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son Barry W. Deimler on December 18, 1960, and a daughter, Marilyn Keever on December 19, 2000.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery.

Arthur H. Ellison
Fredericksburg - Arthur H. Ellison, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 26 at his home.
Born in Toronto, Canada, he was the son of the late George and Gertrude Asby Ellison.
He was retired from the Lebanon Steel Foundry.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Kathryn Kimmel Ellison; two daughters, Cindy Donley of York and Sheila Ellison of Camp Hill; four sons, Steven of Grafton Ontario, Ward of Hegins, Scott of Myerstown and Keith of Lebanon; a sister, Elva Bailey of Toronto, Canada; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the convenience of the family.
Anna D. Cann
Harrisburg - Anna D. Cann, 75, of 1205 South 28th St., died Friday, Jan. 24 at Dauphin Manor.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Edith L. Wiest and was a former employee as a medical secretary at a number of dental offices in the Harrisburg area.
Surviving are a sister, Janice Lark of Hummelstown; a brother, Donald Wiest of Harrisburg; a cousin, Jean Kehler of Valley View; four nephews, Randy Lark of Halifax andKeith Wiest, Karl Wiest and Ron Wiest, all of Harrisburg; and a niece, Sandy Wiest of Hegins.
Funeral services were private.

Lorane A. Signor-Bordner
Millersburg - Lorane A. Signor-Bordner, 44, of 521 Berrysburg Road, died Sunday, Jan. 26 at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Norma Baim Hoover.
Surviving are her husband, Phillip E. Bordner; a son, Clyde E. Signor III of Millersburg; a brother, Frank Hoover of Carlisle; four sisters, Shirley Hoover of Harrisburg, Joanne Malseed of Carlisle, Deborah McDonald of Ohio and Judy Kline of York; and three grandchildren.
Viewing was held Jan. 29 at the Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc. in Millersburg. Burial was at the convenience of the family.
Evelyn S. Mende
Elizabethville - Evelyn "Lynne" S. Mende, 85, formerly of Hummelstown, died Saturday, Jan. 25 at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born May 26, 1917 in Passaic, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Anton and Eleanor Jacobi Schmitt and was a graduate of Passaic High School.
She was a homemaker and docent at the Hershey Museum and also served as a volunteer at the Hershey Medical Center.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dauphin and a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hillsborough, N.J.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Mende.
Surviving are three sons, William R. of Elizabethville, Alan F. of Hummelstown and Robert C. of Kempton; a daughter, Lynette N. Mende Siedlecki of Buffalo, N.Y.; four granchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home, Inc. in Hummelstown. Burial was in Neshanic Cemetery in Neshanic, N.J.
