TOWER CITY - Ethel T. Buggy, 80, of 415 W. Grand Avenue, died Thursday, Jan. 9 at Harrisburg Hospital.
Born August 3, 1922 in Porter Twp., she was the daughter of the late Alex and Verna Knight Hornock and was the widow of Thomas J. Buggy.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Tower City and the church's Women's Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Catherine A. Magee.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 11 at her church. Burial was in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery in Williamstown.

Irene Mary Scheib
Hegins - Irene Mary Scheib, 85, of 957 E. Main St., died Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Pottsville Hospital.
Born Sept. 2, 1917 in Eldred Twp., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Annie Wetzel Limbert.
She was retired owner/operator of Elsie's Restaurant in Hegins and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, also in Hegins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Brassington and Gertrude Savide and a brother, Vernon Limbert.
Surviving are her husband Floyd; a granddaughter, Audrey Maule of Gratz; and two grandsons.
Graveside services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

LeRoy Albert Knorr Sr.
Hegins - LeRoy Albert Knorr Sr., 84, of 626 Chestnut St., died Wednesday, Jan. 8 at his home.
Born Sept. 8, 1918 in Dornsife, he was the son of the late Clarence and Alverta Snyder Knorr.
He was a retired self-employed coal miner and a member of Friedens United Church of Christ Church; Independent Miners Association; and Hegins Fire Company, and was a former driver for the Hegins Area Ambulance Association.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marlin, Elwood and Robert Knorr; three sisters, Marie Schneck, Violet Knorr and Pearl Bruso; and a grandson.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Miller Knorr; a son, LeRoy A. Knorr Jr. of Hegins; four sisters, Hilda Stutzman of Valley View, Myrtle Herring and Dolly Klouser, both of Hegins, and Betty Despres of Reistertown, Md.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home in Valley View. Burial was in Friedens Cemetery in Hegins.

Clair D. Wiest
Halifax - Clair D. Wiest, 79, of 33 S. Third St., died Thursday, Jan. 9 at his home.
Born in Gratz, he was the son of the late George and Anna Shive Wiest.
He was a retired supervisor from the New Cumberland Depot and a member of the Valley's United Church of Christ Church in Halifax. He was a lifetime member of the Halifax VFW Post No. 5750 and served on the military honor guard. He was a former scoutmaster and cubmaster in Halifax and delivered meals on wheels in the Halifax area for 25 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having participated in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.
Surviving are his wife, June E. Still Wiest; a son, Gary D. of Harrisburg, two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. at the his church in Halifax. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Oscar J. Baumert Jr.
Herndon - Oscar J. Baumert Jr., 59, of Herndon RR1, died Friday, Jan. 10 at Hershey Medical Center.
Born March 4, 1943 in Dornsife RD, he was the son of Geneva L. Rebuck of Elizabethville and the late Oscar J. Baumert Sr.
He was a 1961 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School and was a self-employed farmer. He attended Delaware Run Wesleyan Church in Watsontown.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary, and an infant son.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 41 years, Marilyn F. Lahr Baumert; three daughters, Karen L. Roach, Sherri A. Bixler and Sue L. Baumert, all of Herndon RR1; three sons, Oscar J. III of Grovetown, Ga., Matthew H. of Novi, Mich. and Michael L. of Herndon RR1; two sisters, Evelyn Zerfing of Gratz and Doris Wetzel of Klingerstown; a brother, Richard of Herndon RR1; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ Church in Urban. Viewing will be Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Millersburg - Mildred I. Bonawitz, 88, formerly of 207 James Road, died Sunday, Jan. 12 at Susquehanna Lutheran Village.
Born Nov. 18, 1914 in Fisherville, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Sallie Leitzel Gonder and was the widow of Carl F. Bonawitz.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hebron United Methodist Church in Millersburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Carlene Wright of Millersburg; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 16 at 11 a.m. at her church. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Halifax.

Millersburg - Terry L. Bailey, 55, of 680 Rising Sun Lane, died Thursday, Jan. 9.
Born in Hershey, he was the son of Pearl Deppen Bailey of Millersburg and the late Stanley S. Bailey.
He was a graduate of Millersburg High School and Penn State University and served in the U.S. Army as a combat veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was owner of Terry L. Bailey State Farm Insurance Agency in Halifax and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millersburg; Susquehanna Lodge No. 364 F&AM; Millersburg Lions Club; American Legion Post No. 326; VFW Post No. 5507; and Millersburg Ferryboat Association. He was a board member of Millersburg Water Authority and a former board member of Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda Rutter Bailey; a son, Douglas of Millersburg; a daughter, Jill Tate of Wayne; three brothers, Stanley Jr. of Perkasie, Benjamin of York, William of Mountaintop; and a grandson.
Graveside services with military honors were held Jan. 13 in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg followed by a memorial service at his church.

She was a homemaker and member of God's Missionary Church in Pillow.
Surviving are her husband Paul; a son, Rick of Harrisburg; a sister, Jean Strohecker of Mansfield; and three granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at her church. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
